Smooth, creamy, glossy. When I think of what I look for in a lip product, these are the first three adjectives that come to mind. And oh, my gosh, you guys, that is exactly what the new Chanel Rouge Coco Stylos for Spring 2016 deliver.
I have always loved Chanel makeup, and the thrill of pulling out a product in that sleek black packaging with that eponymous double-C logo embossed in shiny crisp white never loses its appeal. That’s why I’m so excited that these easy to use and sleek little tubes of Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lip Shine ($37 each) feel so good on my dry lips.
Chanel describes these lippies as having “the intensity of a lipstick, the shine of a lipgloss and the comfort of a lip balm,” and there truly has never been a more accurate product description. For a lip care formula, these Rouge Coco Stylos are incredibly pigmented and offer a pop of pigmentation perfect for spring.
On the other hand, they’re especially creamy and shiny — not unlike the brand’s much loved Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss formula — giving lips a plump appearance that I’m head over heels for.

An added plus? Fellow Francophones will note that Chanel has hidden a clever play on words in the product names. The line is called “Rouge Coco Stylo,” with “stylo” being the French word for “pen,” and each different shade is named after a type of writing — Conte (tale), Histoire (story), Recit (narration) and Script (script).
I love the little play on words. It’s sweet and oh, so Chanel.
Remember how I mentioned that I have dry eczema-prone skin (mostly around my lips)? I’m going to ask you to please go easy on me as I guest post on Makeup and Beauty Blog. Because of the dryness, I tend to be a little self-conscious about my lip swatches. I only mention this as the formula of these lippies is incredible for those of us who struggle with such concerns in the lip area. Even at their flakiest, my lips look (and feel!) plump and healthy thanks to this formula.
See what I mean about pigmentation? These Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lip Shines seriously feel just like an incredibly emollient and hydrating balm, but the pigmentation isn’t lacking. Chanel really hit the nail on the head with this formula, but beware — don’t press too firmly when you’re applying this product on your lips!
You can see in the swatch of 202 Conte (above) that the product will break off the stick when pressed too firmly. A gentle press and swipe, and your lips are coated in rich and hydrating color.
Bottom line? Packed with hydrating apple seed extract, jojoba oil, coconut oil and beeswax, the new Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lip Shines are superb. Whether your spring comes in like a lion before going out like a lamb, and you need a little extra somethin’ somethin’ in terms of hydration, or whether you live in a dry climate that can be hard on your lips, these are for you.

I was pleasantly surprise that these aren’t overly scented. I didn’t notice anything that put me off, and I’m sensitive to fragrance in my lip products.

Now these sound lovely, just like I prefer my lipsticks. I don’t own a Chanel lipstick yet, which should be a good enough reason to buy my 18996. red lipstick, don’t you think?
I’ve liked all the ones I’ve seen on various blogs, for me personally I’ll have to go with the darker shades because I have pretty colored lips for as pale as I am.

I have one and I like how pigmented, glossy and comfortable it is. The only thing that annoys me is that because it’s so soft, it broke once when I applied it and I lost a large chunk of it…
Oh I know! That happened to me with Conte as you can see in my arm swatch. Big bummer to have wasted product since they’re so costly. At the same time, the softness is much appreciated once applied.

I have Script. I love it. Glossy, moisturizing, comfortable and nicely pigmented. Like you, I love Chanel. Too bad it’s so pricey….. By the way, your lips look great.

As someone with dry lips, I’d be curious to hear what you think of (this is gonna sound weird) the e.l.f. Matte Lip Colors. I find them pretty miraculous, especially considering their price ($3). They might not be 100% true mattes, but I love their satiny/matte finish. They tend not to feather on me, and they don’t emphasize my dry lips AT. ALL. Admittedly, I don’t have eczema-prone skin, but my lips more often tend towards the dry-and-gross side than the smooth side of things. I’d love to hear if they work for you/you like them. They’re basically the only matte lipsticks I’ve found that work well for me. (and $3! I mean, c’mon!)

I bought Histoire when these babies first came out. I love the formula and that it dries down to a nice satin finish. Love the scent and the little pen just feels so chic, non? I swear Histoire looks different on everyone. On you its more like a bright red, on me (caramel skin) a corally red. I will wear this a lot this spring/summer as the formula is much more forgiving than matte when you’re in the go and I don’t feel the need to touch up after my morning coffee. This formula leaves a bit of a stain so I don’t feel totally naked when it starts to wear off.
