Wouldn’t it be just grand if every decision were only as complex as what lipstick to wear for the day!? Adulting is hard, man! Oh, well…
This week I’ve been working on the flooring project I talked about, which means trying to figure out when to start it, what material to use, whom to hire, how to test our existing tiles for asbestos since the home was built in the 1970s, figuring out how to remove the old carpet, whether we can coordinate the project to coincide with some repairs we have to do, which may or may not require us all to temporarily live someplace else with our cat while the work is done, which has been…challenging, but at least I figured out what lipstick to wear for the day! 🙂 That was easy, peasy, lemon squeezy compared to asbestos testing (OMG).

Yesterday I had the best time trying to figure out which of these Chanel Rouge Coco Lipsticks to wear… I mean, the orangey red shade is obviously fun and fierce and shiny. It sings “Spring is here!” Unsurprisingly, I also love the nude beige pink, which looks so elegant and sophisticated! They both have their own cool vibe.

Ultimately, I went with the orangey red because I needed some “lipstick armor” to get through the day, but which one do you prefer?
Oh! — I’m wearing cream shadow in this look because these ones from Chanel are awesome. I’ve also been on a cream shadow kick. These double as shadows and liners, and, in case you’re wondering, yes, they’re comfortable on the waterline. Not drying at all! I’m wearing a matte light brown called Contour Clair on my lids and matte dark brown Rouge Noir on my lash and water lines.

I blended out the edges of the lighter brown with what I *thought* was a clean blending brush, so I was surprised when — whoops! — orangey brown appeared in my crease. Turns out I forgot I had used this particular brush with the UD Naked Wild West Palette, and it had some leftover matte brown in the bristles. I actually ended up liking how it turned out though!
Don’t ya just love fortuitous makeup accidents?
By the way, happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️? Connor Claire and I painted our nails green this morning to celebrate. She’s part Irish on El Hub’s side.

I was going to make corned beef and cabbage in the Instant Pot, but eh…I might just make a Whole Food’s Frozen Cheese Pizza with some green broccoli on it instead! ?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Other than the super long, complicated name, I love Chanel Stylo Ombre Et Contour Eyeshadow-Liner-Khols. I sometimes wish they came in more colors. But then I’d be broke. I love Coco on your lips. Adrienne somehow makes me look like a corpse. Not the correct undertone I guess.
I still need to find Chanel Malice blush. I think I’ll treat myself when I’m finally able to get my vaccine.
Happy St. Pat’s!
The name is way too long. LOL Let’s just call them Chanel cream shadow sticks and call it a day! What colors do you have? I now want 38 Burgundy Perle and 40 Beige Perle.
BTW do you have a date on your vaccine yet? I asked my doc yesterday and she says that late April/May for us. I CAN’T WAIT!
I love your posts! They are so informative.
Thank you, Amy!
Without looking at my stash I know I have Contour Clair and Electric Brown. I would like Nude Eclat and Beige Perlé as well. There’s also the Boy de Chanel 3-in-1 eye pencil that looks similar and I’d like that one in Navy.
No idea when I can get a vaccine. There seems to be a huge shortage of them for this county. I was hoping Dear Daughter and Dear Husband could each get theirs before they set out for the cross country trip to move her to NYC.
I’ve been eyeing the Boy de Chanel crayons too! I bet the formulas are very similar; you know, marketing and all.
When do your people leave for the cross country trip? I was just thinking how hard it must be to see your daughter go.
If you click on the tab beneath the product picture that says “More Details” there is a list of ingredients for each product. Except for the pigments/colorants they are very similar formulas.
Dear Daughter and Dear Husband leave the end of April. I get to stay home and take care of Nibbler who will be staying in CA instead of moving to NYC. She’s getting to be an old kitty and I’m not sure she can handle either a plane trip or a week long cross country trip. Also easier to find apartments in NYC if you don’t have a pet.
I figured as much about the sticks. Funny how much marketing plays into things!
I’m happy and excited for your daughter’s new adventure. Hope the trip goes smoothly and that she finds a nice place near school. 🙂
Thanks. I’m hoping things go smoothly too. Although I expect some frustration and a lot of calls and texts until she gets settled. Things would be easier if this pandemic was over.
I do wonder if she will move back to CA when the program is done or stay in NY or move somewhere else. Sigh. I suppose it’s to be expected now that she’s an adult.
She’s lucky that she can call you and text you for support. I’ve always felt like I had to figure out everything on my own; I bet it’s comforting for her to be able to lean on you. 🙂 You’re a good momma!
Happy St Patrick’s Day Karen from Dublin!!!
Thank you, Karen K! Hope you had a good one. 🙂
Regarding asbestos in homes the best advice is not to test it yourself or try and remove it, but record where it is and floor over it so it is not exposed. I work in an old building with asbestos and the safest thing is to let it be. Xxx
Hi Elinor,
We’re having an inspector come and do it because it’s required when you’re working with floor companies out here. I definitely have no desire to mess with it! Thank you for your input!
I prefer the orangey-red, but that surely doesn´t surprise anyone.
