Sure, you’ve got your beauty bases covered for life’s big events — cocktail parties, baby showers, weddings, the zombie apocalypse — but what about those once-in-a-while mornings when you wake up feeling “meh”?

NARS recently released 413BLKR Duo Eyeshadow ($34) and 413BLKR Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($24), the two newest numerically-named members of Team 413BLKR (a collection named after the company’s flagship NY store), to celebrate Fashion’s Night Out, a big New York Fashion Week festivity.
You know…I never would have thought to pair these two products together, and that’s one of the reasons why I love NARS. They have a knack for introducing unexpected pairings that just plain work.
Wearing these pieces, I feel like shouting “halleluja!” up to the heavens. “Mama’s still got it!” They make me want to blast Bad Girls by Donna Summer and twirl around in my living room with my arms raised up!
413BLKR Duo Eyeshadow ($34)
Officially, these two colors are described as a shimmering amethyst eyeshadow and a black eyeshadow with red pearl, but on my skin I get more of a muted taupe with a satin finish and a sheer matte black shadow sprinkled with tiny flecks of purple glitter. Die-hard pigment paramours may balk at the medium coverage, but in this case I think it makes ’em more wearable and easy to control. Helps, too, that there’s almost no fallout whatsoever. 413BLKR Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($24)
A funky fresh fuchsia that lasts a solid 4-6 hours? SOLD! Not only is it astonishingly easy to apply, it doesn’t dry out my lips. And if you love NARS Mexican Rose, don’t miss this. It reminds me of Mexican Rose, if Mexican Rose had a satin finish, a little less red and a little more blue. More than anything, I’m in love with the finish. Picture a matte with a faint whisper of shine. Hello, lovah!

The lip pencil is just GORGEOUS. I’ve never tried the Nars matte pencils, for fear of them being drying. I’ll have to try 413BLKR since that doesn’t seem to be an issue and I love the color!!

They’re not drying at all, not for me at least. They’re pretty darn comfy a far as mattes go!
I ordered the lip pencil last night. I was contemplating the eyeshadows too, but they’re not that special.

Dolce Vita is probably my favorite! Just a nice everyday color!
I’ll have to keep an eye out to see if they’re available in Canada. I hope they’re ongoing. I want the whole collection but plan to use up a bit of my stash first before obtaining more.
