How’s it going, friend? I hope you had a nice Friday (never mind the ominous date). Mine turned out pretty well.
Maybe even great. 🙂
I had most of the afternoon off, as Tabs left early to catch a flight to Capri where he’s shooting a kitty modeling spread this weekend for Dolce & Gabbana’s new fragrance, Light Blue for Tom Cats.
(Look for it on counters spring 2013.)
I don’t know… Maybe it was the extra catnip I slipped into his gravy before the limo picked him up (he gets so nervous when he flies), but he was unusually nice to me this morning.
He even called right before takeoff to tell me that I could go to the salon today. His treat!
Meow mrrow, he said. Seriously, those were his exact words.
Not needing to be told twice, I booked a last-minute appointment with my bud Alis over at A-Line Salon.
Alis freshened my roots, trimmed my scraggly ends and lightened a few more sections to crank up the ombre effect I’ve been wearing for a few months.

No pink streaks this time, but I’m still considering these Colorsmash Hair Shadows…
I think I may have also found a new makeup look I’d like to try while flipping through the August issue of Glamour at the salon.

Actress Mila Kunis with a bangin’ cat eye
That liner — perfection!
I’m meeting Jen and Cindy for dinner in the city tomorrow night, and I think I’m gonna give it a try (wish me luck!).
After the salon, I swung by the mall to get a closer look at the new YSL fall 2012 collection.

I’ve been dying to see the khaki mascara in person.

Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in Vert Graphite ($30)
Kinda bananas, right? I’m intrigued yet scared at the same time.
I wonder if it’ll have a similar effect on brown eyes as purple mascara, maybe make them look browner? — but I don’t know about the color. Something about it’s sayin’ “baby poo” to me.
The collection looks promising, though, doesn’t it? Khakis, purples and grays for eyes; reds and khakis for nails; red lips; and sheer, shimmery cheeks courtesy of liquid highlighters that remind me a little of the NARS Illuminators.

Swatches from the left: Dare to Glow Silky Highlighting Veil in 1) Tempting Gold, 2) Fatal Red and 3) Naughty Pink ($28 each); and 4) Terre Saharienne ($50)

Pure Chromatics Wet/Dry Shadows in 5) No. 10 and 6) No. 11 ($52 each)

Rouge Pur Couture Matte Lipsticks in 7) Orange Imagine, 8 ) Rouge Rock and 9) Grenat Satisfaction ($32 each); 10) Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in Vert Graphite ($30); La Lacque Couture Nail Polish in 11) Khaki Arty and 12) Rouge Expressionniste ($25 each)

What do ya think? See anything you like?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

You hair is AMAZING! It’s so beautiful!
o.m.g. YOUR HAIR IS FABULOUS. What a great cut and color!!! You are going to look amazing tomorrow. 🙂
The lipsticks are gorgeous. And your hair look really chic!
That volume…. it defies gravity!
Your hair is gorgeous!
Karen, your hair looks awesome, so beautiful and edgy!
The collection is to die for. I’ll be definitely checking out lipsticks and mascara.
damn girl–that is some SERIOUS supermodel, bouncy hair! I’m so jealous. I don’t do ANYTHING for my hair (I spend all my $ on products. Hm…), but I think it’s about time for me to shelve the scissors and boxed hair dye and start going to a REAL professional. I think it would really make a difference in my look–I literally don’t do anything with my hair (don’t even brush it. i don’t have to–it dries without tangles and if I brush it, I usually lose any semblance I had of body)!
I LOVE your hair – you look gorgeous! Your hairdresser is brilliant.
Karen you hair is so gorgeous! Loving the new highlights, and the volume, so pretty!
Your hair looks amazing Karen! I love the YSL highlighters!
i love your hair. they are looking super stylish!
Karen, you look fantastic!
You always look amazing but your hair is out of this world now! So beautiful:) I picked up Rouge Rock lipstick and I can’t wait to try it! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
The hair looks great!
And as for the swatches, I refuse to think about fall yet… We haven’t even had a couple of decent summer days here! I need a bit of real summer first before I can think of fall… 🙂
Yess I’ll take that gold/khaki palette and the orange lipstick please!
I love your hair! I’ve had a hair cut similar to that one but mine didn’t look full and glorious like yours. lol
I am really liking the green quad!
Your hair!! OMG so gorgeous!!
Your hair is absolutely stunning! Oh, and that volume…holy moly!
Love the hair! Perfection!
He said meow mrrow! OMG! Cuteness :). I have already read that line, like, a bazillion times! *Runs to get Tabs for Sephora set*
LOVE, LOVE , L-O-V-E THE HAIR KAREN!!! YOU LOOK GORGEOUS!!!
Karen =)
OMG! Your hair! It’s amazing! I think it’s your best ever. You look gorgeous!
Your hair looks amazing! Really loving the color and the cut. It really shows off your pretty face 🙂 I haven’t tried YSL stuff but that khaki mascara does look a little skeptical…
I love,love,love your new hair!
I am thinking a similar for me!
I love the Pure Chromatic quad in 10, gorgeous khakis!
Love, love, love your hair!! I agree, you look gorgeous.
Fabulous hair! Will you please do a tutorial on that cat eye, pretty, pretty please? That khaki mascara is very intriguing, I have the purple YSL mascara and get compliments on it constantly. I wonder if the khaki would suit my green eyes even more? I would worry that it wouldn’t be dark enough. I like some MAJOR lashes!
Your hair looks awesome — love it! Ive been much too lazy to visit my hair lady so I have insanely long hair these days (for me at least) … its almost halfway down my back! I normally keep it just past my shoulders!
Love this new hair of yours. Too bad theres no pics of the packaging of the highlighters
Your hair looks amazing! I am in hair envy 🙂
More deets on the pink stripes… what brand/color of dye did you use? I’ve been wanting to do that for a while.
Hair looks fab, Karen!
Your hair looks amazing, I love how the golden hightlights peek through in the first picture.
From the collection, I’ll take the first two lipsticks,
You’re making me tempted to cut my hair a bit shorter!
Love your hair–I prefer this look to the pink. Gorgeous.
I really like that reddish highlighter! I turn kind of reddish/tan in the summer (part native American) and I think it would go well with my summer tan. I also like the metallic eyeshadows! But I’m not a fan of that mascara (it would never show up on my lashes).
Love your hair, Karen. It’s really fabulous!
You always look cute, but your hair looks extra awesome here!
Wow, your hair is gorgeous! Now I wanna go dye my own hair~
omg your hair looks so chic karen!!!
Karen, your hair looks SO INCREDIBLE! You beauty!
I love your new hair, it’s so pretty! ♥
ur hair looks amazing! what a good blowout! love the volume and sleekness u get at the salon! 🙂
Wow! This hair color/cut is so incredible on you. My favorite yet in the three years I’ve been following your blog!
That is the exact haircut I’d get if only I had more of a forehead and could be bothered to straighten my hair most days. I just love it. Getting mine cut Tuesday and I need to loose some length and sacrifice sleek ponytail-ability for better shape. I may regret it, but it must be tried!
Hmm…can I copy your cut/color? Haha! You look super gorgeous, but that’s nothing new! Love it!
I love your new hair! It looks awesome! And I had the same reaction to the mascara. Very reminiscent of baby poo. 🙂
I LOVE your hair!!!!
Karen, your hair is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous!!!
Thanks, boo-boo! That was a good hair day. 🙂
Happy Monday!
Karen, you look fabulous. I LOVE your hair. If I was in Cali, she’d be my stylist too!
That is some gorgeous hair! I love the amped-up colour :>
I am loving the hair!!!
