Does your Target have a produce section? Isn’t that the most convenient thing ever? I was at ours yesterday, allegedly there to buy grapes, when I ran into the Boots No. 7 limited edition Opulence Eye Palette ($10).
It comes with five powder eyeshadows (four shimmers and one matte) in shades of gold, brown, navy, beige and black. The colors, Boots says, were inspired by Russian Tsarinas and the 1980s, because, ya know, those two things totally go together so well. 🙂
How would you wear this palette? I’m thinking a day look using the navy on the lid and the brown along the lower lash line, hmm…

It’s pretty good for drugstore! If you want lots of concentrated color you’ll probably have to apply the shades wet.

Gotta check out the Boots here. But the price is gonna be in British pounds and that’s gonna cost a lot more than in the US *sigh….

I like the geometric package graphics – which I think may tie in more with the 80s than Tsarinas, but I’m no expert on Russian royalty. Russian hockey players, on the other hand… 🙂

The season starts on Friday so it’s more top-of-mind than usual. I think our ice goes in next week so I’m pretty excited. My ACL is a bit nervous though. Old + kids = weak knee ligaments. Sigh. 🙂

The packaging on that is pretty cool. Very futurist, but I could do without the makeup inside.

LOL, I love that combo. Boots is pretty good. I brought my friend back some from England a few years ago, and shortly afterward Target began carrying it. Ha ha. 🙁 I do like these colors, though. Very 80’s. Not really seeing the tsarina thing, though.

I didn’t end up getting the palette (for once I managed to exercise self restraint), but if I do I’ll put up a look.
1980s indeed, although I don’t know much of anything about Russian Tsarinas. I was wary about the colors, but the look they feature on their display is awesome. And $10 is decent.
$10 bucks is great! I love affordable stuff with nice packaging.
I love Boots stuff. I used to spend hours in their stores in England. They have the best cleansers and colours. Too bad they aren’t carrying all of their products here in the US.

What were/are some of your fave products from the line?
I have this one! I don’t think I’ve managed to wring the full potential out of it yet, but I love the faux 80s look, and the brown and dark gold are beautifully thick and buttery soft, and really pigmented. I haven’t played with the blue yet…. i have a thing against blue eyeshadows o_O
I had the same feeling about blue for a long time, too, but then I started playing with it more and found I that I really like it!
I just saw your blog today for the first time so was really surprised/happy to see the palette I designed for Christmas 2009 here. The design concept was mainly Russian constructivist art, the shapes and graphics of Russian art and design at the beginning of the modernist period with a bit of the 80’s colour trend for Christmas 2009 thrown in (a lot of the 80’s geometric shapes were influenced by Russian graphics) No idea where the Tsarinas came from??? Its a shame it took a whole year to get into Target : (
