I’m thinking about having the words, “It’s Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in 39,” printed on a t-shirt, and I’ll tell you why.
Because whenever I wear it, I must get asked 10 times a day what I’m wearing on my lips.
It’s almost as flattering as the lipstick itself. 🙂
If I had that shirt, I could just smile, open my jacket and BAM! — point at the shirt.
Once you start wearing this satiny, orangey coral ($19, available now at Make Up For Ever Boutiques and counters, Sephora stores and also online), you’ll see what I mean.
It’s one of those colors you can’t miss when it walks into a room, so be prepared to answer questions about it as you go about your day.
I think it has something to do with the opacity, for one. The bright block of solid color really showcases your lips. That, and the orangey tones, which are just so…bright.
You might be wondering if you’re looking at a dupe for MAC Ravishing. Well, they have some things in common, as you can tell. Both are full-coverage corals, but I think 39 is brighter, although not as shiny, and much more orange than Ravishing.
The satin finish could almost pass for matte, which, I don’t know, gives it a vintage, almost ’50s feel. For a modern take on a retro look, I like wearing it with smokey cat eyes and mint green nail polishes like Zoya’s Neely ($8).
With the thick, concentrated Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense formula, a little goes a long way, and I can’t complain at all about the wear time. I can slip it on right after breakfast, make it through lunch and two cups of tea, and not have to touch it up until late afternoon.

The shade looks almost neon in the swatch, pretty but difficult to pull off. It looks gorgeous on you, goes well with that top and the eye makeup.

When I saw the #39 lipstick at Sephora, I knew that I HAD TO HAVE IT. I love corals (although everyone else is trying to steer me away from them. So, you know how it is when you find the perfect lipstick, only to find they’re out of it…well, that’s what happened.
Nothing, however, was going to stop me from having that lipstick and I ordered off the site and, oh my gosh, it IS gorgeous! Perfect for Spring although I wear it year-round of course. lol.

Okay, I must go to Sephora tomorrow and buy that lipstick. It is sooo pretty and I love Makeup For Ever lipsticks. And I’m missing a coral. I had one from Smashbox that I really loved but it was in my purse when it was stolen last November 🙁
A coral lipstick will totally help me get my spring groove on.
