If my cheeks could talk, they would’ve said, “Ahh…” in ecstasy the first time I tried Chanel’s Hydra Beauty Creme Riche moisturizer.
Then my wallet, assuming it also had the ability to talk, would have added, “Girl, you so crazy!” because it would have just shelled out big bucks on skincare from Chanel.
Unfortunately, Chanel doesn’t do drugstore, but I must say, I think their skincare is really good (I used both Lait Confort Creamy Cleansing Milk and Sublimage Eye Cream down to the last drop). If I were an RHOBH (that’s Bravo shorthand for a “Real Housewife of Beverly Hills”), I’d be rockin’ this stuff 24/7.
Just released this month, along with a new hydrating lip balm, new Hydra Beauty Creme Riche moisturizer is powered by something Chanel calls, “Camelia Alba PFA.”

The moisturizer, I love. It’s very thick and dense — a lot like a balm — but it absorbs quickly into my skin without leaving behind a greasy film. I use it on the dry patches on my cheeks and around my nose, and my skin soaks it right up.
It’s extremely hydrating and hasn’t triggered any breakouts yet (knock on wood).
I should also point out that it has a super strong scent — green apples and lilies — which I like, most of the time, except when I have a migraine (and then it’s just too much).
As for the lip balm, ya know, it’s a’ight. It has the same green apple flavor and scent (nice, but again, strong), but in terms of moisture, I feel like I get more from my good ol’ Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector, which is $23 (versus $50) and comes in a more convenient tube.
Sure, the balm is probably overpriced, but that really depends on your outlook on Chanel. If you’re a fiend for the brand and just looking for light lip hydration, you’ll get that here.

There’s nothing like luxury moisturizers though. I used to be hooked on Clarins HydraQuench for years until they changed their formula for the Cream version. *Shakes fist at the Universe* Flakey patches on the face are so annoying so it’s good to hear that the Chanel moisturizer does work for that. I’m currently using Kate Sommerville’s moisturizer – alternating between the Goat Milk version for when my skin is a bit dry, and Oil Free for when I’m wearing makeup as it makes my skin look so smooth (illusion ;)). If you’re looking for a “slightly” less than Chanel-price moisturizer, do consider the Kate Sommerville one. It’s so basic and non-irritating, unlike some others. Another one I wouldn’t have thought would turn out so good is Korres Pomegranate moisturizer. It’s a gel formula that is silicone free (thank heavens!) and very soothing.
I’d never go so overboard for lip care, but ehh, it IS Chanel of course, lol… 🙂

Ouch! That’s a steep price for a moisturizer. Right now, I’m loving the “Lotus Youth Preserve” moisturizer by Fresh. It’s super moisturizing and feels so luxurious–and it’s only $42 for 1.7 ounces. 🙂
The lipcare looks very “meh.” I tried La Mer’s, and being a devotee of the original creme I hoped for fantastic results. It irritated my lips to no end!
Have you ever tried Dior’s Creme de Rose? Now THAT is good stuff. I think it’s the shea butter. Plus the rose scent makes me feel fancy shmancy.

My face can’t tolerate fragrance in most skincare products, but one that my skin just drinks up is Algenist’s Firming and Lifting Cream for $90. Same with their Genius Cream for $110. Awesome for dry skin. Rich, but sinks right in and isn’t greasy.
If I’m going to spend that much on a lip product, I’ll get By Terry. As for the cream, I’d have to try it. If it’s something that just plain works, I don’t think $87 is a waste of money. It’s a waste to keep buying things that only half work. If I find something that works really well, I tend to keep using it until it either doesn’t or they frack up the formula.
I would use that Chanel lip balm up waaay too fast to justfiy the price, but it is tempting to know how it would be to actually feel *glamorous* while using one 🙂

I have a bunch of Chanel Le Blanc samples around, but it just was not agreeing with my skin. Too much fragrance and alcohol, but that’s probably good with my budgetary constraints, LOL.
My skin needs fragrance-free, so most of the luxury brands are out of the question for me.
