I was standing on my deck this evening trying to catch a glimpse of the ring of fire eclipse when I saw the shadows from the oak trees on the back of the condo. I can’t believe I’ve lived here for almost three years and never noticed them before! I love the patterns and think they’d look really pretty on a piece of fabric.

Love these!
I love these patterns..did you catch the eclipse? My friend told me about it..but I forgot all about it in about 5 minutes..besides I am a bit scared to look at these eclipses..
Hi, Rads. We tried to, but the sun was still so bright that I couldn’t quite see the effect. Even in the pics I took, they just looked like the regular sun, only a little less bright than usual.
I should have built a pinhole box of some kind to see it properly, but by the time it occurred to me, it was already too late.
The bottom picture was during the eclipse, right? It looks like tiny little eclipse shadows.
Yup, Katherine, it was. Did you guys see it where you were? I couldn’t see the halo effect or the shape with the naked eye, but I could see the shape in the shadows on this wall.
No, I couldn’t really see it. I live in Houston so the sun was setting by the time the eclipse started. And it’s so darn flat here I couldn’t think of a good place where I could try to catch a glimpse of the sunset.
I like your main picture the best. I also like taking pictures of shadows. They look so ethereal.
Those are all eclipse shadows! So pretty!
Very pretty & intruiging
Very cool, Karen! I have to agree about the shadows – they’d look great as fabric for a loose, summery blouse or something. 🙂
