It’s almost time! OMG. Two more sleeps ’til I leave for the Emmys with Dove in Los Angeles. I head down there on Sunday, and the show is Monday night.
Here are the two gowns I rented from Rent the Runway. It’s important that I see how they move and look in pics because, you know, the paparazzi from Crazy Cat Lady Weekly will be there, and I want to look my best. Obvs.
Yup, I said gowns. Plural. Because I also ordered a backup (hey, how many times does someone get to go to the Emmys?), a black mermaid silhouette dress by Monique Lhuillier, which I got in case the hot pink Badgley Mischka Fluorescent Chiffon Gown made me look like a rejected extra from Toddlers and Tiaras.
I’m barely five feet tall, so this is a legitimate concern.
Anywho, Tabs votes for the pink.

I like the draping of the black Monique Lhuiillier better than the pink dress. The pink dress isn’t fitted as nicely. I love your exuberance in the 1st photo! Have a great time!

Like the makeup geek and dork that I am, without shame of course, I was hoping you’d do something like this. I was all for the pink gown when you described it but now that I see it compared with the black one, I vote for the black one. I dunno, it makes you look all Heidi Klum-like. As if you starred in one of those films that’s gonna win an Emmy and like you should be receiving one yourself.
But you know, the pink one looks ethereal. Hmmm, I’m not much help am I? For the record, I voted for the black one….and I promise not to come back to the site and vote for the pink one. Now PLEASE show us the makeup look you’re doing. Or, are you getting it done professionally?
The silhouette of the black one is a better fit for your shape. It draws attention to your shapely hips, down from a high waist (which I also have and so have spent years thinking about this, haha!). But the color of the pink one is way better. And you seem to be having so much fun in it! The black is more elegant, but the pink looks easier to move and be natural in and has a great flow to the fabric. So I say both work, and whichever makes you feel best and gives you most confidence is the right one!
This is tough, but I went with the pink one. I love that Tabs made an appearance. That tummy! I love it. If he wears a tuxedo bow tie and collar, I might die from cuteness. 🙂

I vote black. It fits your curves better. And being a shoe lover I think you could find some colored shoes that pop and some great jewels. Maybe teal? A chunky colored necklace for kate spade?

I’m going to say that my vote is based more on practicality.. While the black does accentuate your curves very well, I’m not sure if it’s that great for walking. I wouldn’t want to put myself in a position where if I was rushed that I couldn’t move quickly enough, especially in an unfamiliar environment. But aside from that, the pink is a gorgeous color and looks amazing on you!

I love both, but personally I would go for the pink, because it’s a memorable color and looks the most fun. That is so seriously awesome that you are going to the Emmy’s! The closest I have come to meeting celebs is meeting Jane Seymour from Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman at a Grand Prix show jumping show (for horses).

I think the shape and fit of the black suit you more in terms of making you look more rockin’ in the bod department. I’d go with the pink though because it’s a stand out shade. No one will remember the black dress even though the fit is better. Plus the pink makes your complexion sing.

I like the pink dress – it stands out against your gorgeous skin tone and looks more summery. The black dress makes you look thicker than you really are (I think it’s the pleats that do it).

If you are already wearing heels in the pink one, then I’d so go for the black one. The pink one looks like it’s too long. I like the neckline better on the pink one, but the black one looks more expensive.
I would normally instantly say PINK!! I actually would wear that as my wedding dress (yea traditional I think NAWT)but with ur height it swallows u and the black dress **in my tyra banks voice** eloooongates u daaaarling!! u lookin 6ft in that black dress hunty!!
Bae, every picture I saw from the Emmys, I got out my magnifying glass and searched for that pink dress!! It was the most excellent choice. First, you look fantastic in it and secondly, it stands apart from the crowd. LOVE
