I got some balloons for El Hub’s birthday last week, and they’re still flying high.
Tabs was terrified of them at first, then intrigued, and now he’s just totally uninterested.
I wonder what he thinks they are… When he looks up at them he gets a look on his face like, What kind of dark sorcery is this!?
I laid down on the carpet to take these shots.

My cat used to be the same! He would prod them (when we tied it fairly low) and then do some ninja cat jump ten feet away and run off. So amusing!
I’m pretty sure he’s thinking ‘I want to bat these areound, and sink my claws into them, night-hunter style…but some dark magic is keeping them aloft, yet motionless?!? What sorcery is this?!’

Haha, yeah I do that too, I think about what goes through the mind of cats when they look at certain things. Or dogs. Or all animals, actually.
Those suckers last forever. We still have a couple from February (that somehow escaped the bitey cat).
My cat did not like balloons at all. The only time I ever heard her hiss was at a balloon. I think most cats definitely have the “what sorcery is this?” reaction when they first see a balloon.
