Oh, sweet, sweet watermelon. How I’ve missed you!
To pick a good watermelon…
- Look it over: Look for a firm, symmetrical watermelon free from bruises, cuts or dents.
- Lift it up: The watermelon should be heavy for its size. Watermelon is 92% water.
- Turn it over: The underside of the watermelon should have a creamy yellow patch from where it sat on the ground and ripened in the sun.

And I had my first strawberries yesterday 🙂
Ahh watermelon! I had some last week, but it wasn’t so good yet, so I’m going to wait for a while before getting another one.
I knock on the watermelon to see if it’s good! If it has a really dull sound, it means it’s very juicy. If it sounds too “crispy” then well, it’s not very juicy!
That funny as I read this I hear my Grandma’s voice when she taught me that “knocking” trick!! It works!
Can’t wait to get my hands on a nice ripe watermelon. We still have a little while to wait out here in NJ, but soooooooooon.
Looks delish! Wish I could get a nice watermelon so early here in PA.
So yummy! We have them regularly here in the Caribbean! I’m now seeing mangoes on my tree!!!!
Oh thats probably what I miss the most about living in Carib…..the sweetest mangoes…. & climbing trees to get them before they drop LOL!!
