Speaking of bell peppers, I have a question for the green thumbs out there.
Uh…how do you tell when green bell peppers are ripe?
Mine look plump, and green, but they’re still kind of small (the biggest one fits in the palm of my hand), so I can’t tell. A lot of the veggies I grow on the deck are in planters and don’t usually get huge like grocery store size.
I’m wondering, though, should I pick it now or wait?
It’s my understanding if you leave it on there too long it’ll start turning yellow
Hi Charlotte! As for the peppers, I have no clue. What color are they supposed to be? I am terrible when it comes to gardening and growing greens.

Hi it entirely depends on which colour you prefer to eat. If you leave them they will turn yellow, orange and red. The red are the sweetest, the green I find more of a bitter stronger flavour, so it really just depends what your preference is taste wise.I like green ones in things like curries, but prefer red or yellow raw in salads. You could pick one while it’s green and see what you think and leave some to ripen further and then try those. They look gorgeous by the way!

Gillian is correct about the peppers, but it does take a long time for them to start changing colors, so if you would like them to be bigger, go ahead and leave them on – they will keep growing! When they hit the size you like, go ahead and pick ’em. Once they start turning yellowish, they probably won’t get any bigger!

I agree with the above. The longer you leave them on the plant, the sweeter they become and the color will change accordingly.

We have a jumper spider that lives on my windowsill in the front room. He/she has been there since it was tiny. Never bothers anyone and loves to eat mosquitos and the occasional fly that gets in. LOL If a new friend happens to see it, I just say, “yep, been living here for years.” Sometimes they just don’t get it LMAO!

Red, orange. I picked some this morning : red, orange , they are plump and and sweet!
As for Charlotte : she may be eating other insects but remember all spiders are poisonous. All have their own amount of venom. So stay your distance.
