In case you were wondering what a nine-year-old girl with Ralph Macchio hair would look like, here’s a picture of me at the Grand Canyon from the mid ’80s.
Please note the center part and wing flaps over the ears… 🙂
To the right (in the pic up top, of course) is my childhood BFF, Karrie, looking more like Olivia Newton-John. Yes, I was insanely jealous of Karrie’s hair.

If I were also wearing a Member’s Only jacket and some gold chains in this pic, I would look EXACTLY like a smaller version of any of my uncles from that era…

Honey, let’s talk about those short shorts. : )
This is exactly what I was going to say!!
Lol first thing I saw after the hair too. LOL
Those shorts are faaaaabulous!
Lol, tough call…
Ah this is so funny.
LOL! 😛 You look cute!!
You look adorable, but I’m gonna have to go with Ralph on this one….
I think you were rockin’ the look.
You’re working it with that looking over the shoulder pose!
Totally agree.
You are adorable! I can definitely relate to grade school bad hair days.
So cuuuuute!!!
The true test of if you were a cute child is being able to look adorable even with that haircut!
You know I love you but I just can’t vote against Ralph’s 80s hair. It’s just stunning. 😉
Like the gals above, the shorts also caught my eye. I remember those well and had a bff whose were terrycloth. Yes, you’re reading that right. Short, thick-and-thirsty terrycloth shorts were a thing. It’s true. 🙂
Karen,
I voted for you on this one ! You amaze me with the knowledge & the pics that you have !
That pic has to be among one of your classics !
I hope you had a great weekend ; the weather here East Coast was perfect ,
Michele
I came to this post because of the link you provided within today’s post. I had this same cut back in the day. I think it was just an 80s kind of thing. I had thicker hair and had this hairstyle when I was about 9 years old too. I was the Latina Ralph Macchio 🙂
