If you like the KAPOW! of black eyeliner but usually gravitate toward subtler shades like charcoal gray and brown, first of all, HELLO, ARE WE MAKEUP TWINS? Second, check out Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Empire ($22), a jeweled eggplant purple. Allegedly, it is not magical…but I’m not so sure about that.

Whenever I want some serious smoke, Empire softens into a hazy, gorgeous gradient…that’s also smudge-proof when it sets and stays put on lash and water lines. You can also use the super-smooth formula to draw razor-sharp wings or trace your lash lines with skinny-mini streaks.

Depending on the lighting, sometimes it looks matte, and sometimes there’s a hint of shimmer.
Magic, I tell ya!
Empire is a permanent fixture in UD’s lineup. Could it be your new favorite eyeliner for fall? ?
Ballerina daughters
Because Rosie is my youngest child. ? Anyway, Connor takes a live Zoom ballet class on Wednesdays, and apparently Rosie has decided she’s a ballerina too.

She parks her torbie booty in the middle of the floor and watches Connor jump over her and twirl around. It’s the funniest thing because Rosie’s just so chill about it. I’ve never seen a cat so unbothered…

Now Connor’s ballet teacher and the other little girls are used to Rosie’s cameos in class. I’m tempted to get her a little kitty ballet tutu of her own!
I’m running to Target in a few to grab some last-minute Halloween items because it’s going to be a very IMPROV Halloween ’round these parts this year.

Since nobody’s really trick-or-treating in our town this year, we’re taking Coywolf to a pumpkin patch on Halloween morning, and then we’re going to carve jack-o-lanterns in the afternoon. I’m also going to try doing a Halloween candy hunt for her (kinda like an Easter Egg hunt) in our little circle, if I pull it off.
What are you up to? I hope all is well.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

UD Empire!! Yes! I swear depending on what you pair it with it can look navy blue-ish too! Or purple. Or Eggplant. And it looks great on so many skin tones.
Haha! I love Rosie parking it right in the middle of Connor’s Zoom ballet class. Dear Daughter says Nibbler ignores her most of the day, but the minute she gets on a Zoom call or yoga or ballet class Nibs wants all the attention.
Are parks still closed in your county? The state just moved us one tier lower so more things are opening up. Even though salons are open, I still haven’t braved sitting in a chair for an hour with someone breathing over me to get a haircut.
Hope you find a way to do a good Halloween.
The parks are technically open up in Marin county but I’m still a little nervous about touching things and getting to close to others on the playground. Her preschool does have designated playgrounds for each of the cohorts though, so she does manage to get some playtime in, thank goodness! She has a lot of energy to burn.
And yeah, I feel you on needing a cut. I want to get one so desperately but the thought of someone up in my space makes me so nervous, too!
Nibbler has the cutest name, by the way! 🙂
I think Rosie IS a ballerina but hasn’t released that info to you yet…
Yes! And a secret makeup artist!
Empire is my ride or die! I use it almost every day because it brings out my blue-green eye color like no other. It’s the one product I always buy when there is a sale because I’m sure I’m almost out, but then I discover that I still had two…oops. 🙂
I do that all the time with certain colors too (hello MAC Velvet Teddy)!
It seems like Empire needs to be on my wish list, even though I see it more navy than eggplant.
About Rosie being a ballerina, Zeus is really funny, sometimes he doesn’t even care about being on camera but the other day in barre class he sit in front on it so I had to stop the exercise to move him.
That’s an awesome idea about the Halloween candy hunt! I’m sure Connor would love it. You totally need to get Rosie a tutu. 🙂
I’ve always had good luck with UD liners; they’re my fave. I almost never wear them these days because I find shadow-as-liner much more forgiving for my old eyes. HAHA!
Happy Friday – I hope you have a fabulous Halloween and weekend!
Omg, I literally can’t take how cute Coywolf is doing her ballet with her adorable tutu and TINY chair!!! SO CUTE!!!! Just bought this eyeliner at the Sephora sale because of your recommendation and I can’t wait to try it!! Thank you, Karen!!
I don’t really wear shadow often (very hooded eyes, eczema) but I love doing fun liner (though I usually just do a black or brown wing) so this is beautiful!
I love Connor and Rosie! I have a friend whose kitty likes to make appearances when he films his burlesque routines. Jiji likes to join my husband’s French classes on Zoom. ?
