Movie night recap for Friday, Aug. 23, 2013. First, the important details. I wore Benefit Dallas (looks great with a tan), NARS Tinted Moisturizer (a combo of St. Moritz and Cuba) with Hourglass Ambient Powder in Dim, POPBeauty Plump Pout in Fuchsia Freesia and a shimmery taupe lid with black cat eye liner.
Next, the movie, Elysium. Well, it could have been great…but it went down the rabbit hole of your run-of-the-mill action flick. The idea — a massive utopian space station where all of the world’s wealthiest people live in luxury, immune to disease and wanting for nothing, while the earth is polluted, overcrowded and impoverished sounds pretty interesting, right?
Sounds like good sci-fi, and it could have been, but then the samurai swords come out, and Matt Damon picks up a machine gun and BAM! — nonstop action movie.
I liked it…but I wanted to love it!
Oh, well.
In other news, are you rising and shining today? I plan to, just as soon as I get some coffee in me. Oh, sweet nectar of the gods, how I look forward to our morning meetings… 🙂

My new favorite foundation is Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H. I did the color IQ at Sephora with my friend last weekend. The Lancome foundation was a color match on my list, so I got a sample. I had never tried Lancome foundations before….I have to say, so far I’m loving it. It’s pricey at $45, but very nice.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen you post a favorite foundation (or maybe I’ve missed it). Do you have a favorite foundation?

At various times, I’ve had subscriptions to BirchBox, Sample Society (through Allure), MyGlam (which I think has changed its name), and Glossybox. The only one I’ve kept for any great length of time is BirchBox (I’ve had my subscription for two years). The others I only had for a few months. While all of them have their pros and cons, I like Birchbox because of their great customer service and because of the price. The $10 price tag makes me much more forgiving of a lackluster month than I am with other boxes.

I have purchased makeup on ebay several times now and I have yet to be dissappointed. The best thing that I purchased was a set of 12 eyeliners in various colors and they go on great, are waterproof and smooth. I LOVE them and they were very inexpensive.
I have bought makeup on line before and it didnt go so well LOL wrong colors, wrong textures, it was a nightmare. for from now on I buy at store only 🙂

I’m newly addicted to Josie Maran’s Argan Creamy Concealer Crayon. As a person with very light skin, it is very difficult to find concealers to match. I was delighted to discover this one!!!

My favorite oncealer right now is a new find for me and it is the L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Crayon Concealer in Medium Deep. It is so creamy and easy for touch-ups on the go with the twist up tube. I am trying to stock up on a few this weekend with sales,coupons, CVS/Drugstore Rewards etc. The color is so great for me but I find that it disappears quickly at 0.1oz/2.8 g.
I am also loving the new Maybelline Fit Me! Shine-Free Foundation Coconut 355, which is a fatter stick at .32 oz/9g.The color works so well for my skin tone which is an NC50/NW45 (Gabrielle Union like complexion). Loving this new product launch and hoping to get a few of these bc my color is sometimes hard to find after a while. The price is another lovely feature of both sticks at around $6 or$7.
I really want to join one of the beauty subscription programs but I am so confused as to which one would give me the most bang for the buck…hmmm.

I actually have bought makeup off of ebay before. I was freaking out, paranoid that I had been dumb and bought something that was a knockoff, but it was great! I purchased the Nars Danmari palette, and it came in perfect condition. I recommend people should check out ebay for cheaper alternatives, but definitely be cautious.
I buy all my BB cream from eBay. It’s sooo hard. I have to comb through a million blogs to find reputable buyers. But I’ve been very happy so far and no issues at all with the buying process or the product. 🙂

I recently had the worst allergic reaction to L’Oreal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Concealer. My cheeks and eyelids broke out in itchy red bumps, my skin dried out, and my whole face burned. It was awful!

I currently subscribe to BirchBox (13 months) & Ipsy (12 months). Both are pretty good but Ipsy is great! Love the product sizes and makeup bags.
Oh! and I forgot I wanted to share my favourite concealer is YSL anticernes, but because of its price, I most of the time have to settle for NYX concealer jar, which is not bad at all!

Yeah, I’ve purchased a LOT of makeup from ebay…and for the most part I’ve been lucky that I’ve only had problems with authenticity once or twice. The key is to find sellers with good consistent feedback and ask any and all questions before bidding. ^_^

My roommate from college got married this summer, and I was one of her bridesmaids! We all did our own make up but seeing as it was an outdoor wedding, it was hard to get our makeup right for pictures and still have enough sun protection (I burn really easily 🙁 )

All the time. Living in Sweden and not having access to brands at makeup counters, and most American brands’ own web stores not shipping overseas, eBay has become a close friend over the years. I try to buy whatever I can from larger online retailers in the UK or Europe, but for some elusive brands (Bobbi Brown, Tarte, Revlon…) I head to eBay. I haven’t received a fake/faulty product yet (knock on wood!) but I still wish I could just pop into a Sephora whenever I get an itch only makeup can scratch.

I didn’t purchase makeup on eBay but I did purchase a set of make up brushes a couple of weeks ago.I really needed to replace some of my brushes but they are so expensive. I’ve had friends buy make from eBay but I was a little uneasy and figured this would be the best way for me to try it out. They arrived sealed and unused, so far so good.
I bought a perfume sample from Ebay once, not exactly the best idea, but it’s the closest to buying any beauty products.

Hi, hope you are having a great week/end! Last night before I went to sleep, our dog was barking at someone in our driveway beeping their horn. When my hubby went outside, a house about 4 houses down was just blazing away! Luckily, no one lived in it and it was on old house. But it was arson, but that really sucks!
I went fishing this weekend and caught a salmon! Salmon feast to happen immediately.
I’ve purchased so many cosmetics on eBay, I’m losing count. Mostly lippies, nail polish, some eyeshadow… but I’ve cut my losses on funky, dried up mascara. On that note, I recently splurged (at Sephora) on the Hourglass Femme Rouge in Vintage. I wasn’t feeling the color right out of the gate, but I’m really liking it now! It will be a great fall lip color. The formula ROCKS! It lasts through sipping beverages. I kinda like the square tip. I feel like it hugs my lips, though I can see how it would be tricky for bright colors like Icon.

The best concealer I’ve tried so far is the Mac studio finish… a bit like photoshop, if applied correctly! And I’ve bought Soap&glory stuff from ebay, since it’s not available in my country. ^-^
For concealer, I have been really wanting to try the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer! And as for weddings, there has been an influx of engagements in my extended friend circle so perhaps next year lol.

As a new Mum, my beauty routine has been seriously neglected. Something which I have discovered though to save dry, cracking lips is Avent Moisturising Nipple Cream – so quick and easy to use and I’m not worried about kissing my bubba with it on as it’s totally safe for babies. It comes in a very convenient, travel-sized tube which is great for when you’re on the go. It’s a fantastic little multi-tasker which could also be used for taming brows and moisturising dry cuticles.
I haven’t tried much concealer, but so far I like the NYX HD concealer. Any suggestion would help, but I guess I’ll do some reading on your blog to find it 🙂
I am going to dump the guy I’ve been dating because he’s not emotionally available and has not been telling me the whole truth. Lies of omission are just as bad as lying!!!! That’s the highlight of my weekend!!
I have a few favorite concealers: Mac Studio Finish concealer, NYX concealer in the jar and Black Opal Total Coverage spot and erase concealer. All of them are used in different areas of my face and for different effects.
I use Bobbi Brown color corrector then over top I use Mac Pro longwear concealer. It doesn’t crease as much as all the others I have used.
I’ve had great luck buying makeup from ebay. It was an affordable way to get me into some big name brands. I am very careful I do all my research first though – the seller, the product, colors, etc.

I’ve purchased makeup from ebay before. Mostly, it’s for Korean brand stuff. 🙂 I bought a few lipsticks last time which are these really cute ones in the shape of a heart. The pigmentation was pretty good, but they feel like you need to warm them up a little (just held against the lip for a bit) to smooth out the application. The one I got was a little patchy otherwise.
My favorite t-shirt says the wolfman ate my homework. I bought it on threadless. I always get compliments when I wear that t-shirt!

I had plans to go to lunch/dinner with my older brother today. Had a blast! The outing was one of many signs that we both needed to get out more often in general, especially in light of our mother’s passing a few months back.

I have a subscription to Birchbox. I love getting products to sample every month. The great thing about this subscription is that some of the samples have become my faves like Coola sunscreen and Cargo blush. They have become my everyday products.
I have been to a wedding this year…in fact I was in it! My best friend was getting married and her wedding theme was more of a rustic country wedding. All of the bridesmaids wore coral colored dresses, each one was different and unique to the bridesmaid with the only exception they were the same color and they went below the knees, and brown cowgirl boots. The grooms wore black cowboy boots. It was a beautiful wedding and she had everything perfected to her theme…to include the table centerpieces that she put together herself!
My two must have beauty items? Philosophy Hope in a Jar moisturizer and Mally Volumizing Mascara.
I belong to Ipsy. It’s a great surprise every month.

What’s your very favorite t-shirt? an over-sized black T-shirt that says “Primadonna” with a white mask (for Phantom of the Opera). I usually wear it to sleep bc it’s sooo soft but I always get compliments if I happen to wear it out.

I am wearing a nail color I purchased on ebay right now! Usually it is for things I can’t get in stores anymore- LEs that are long gone, or at times, just to save some $. Mostly just nail polish- since there are no expiration dates for those! I won’t pay obvious price gouge-ers who take advantage, though. I’ve never paid inflated prices but I have been appalled at how much they are asking for some of these items.
I am actually attending a wedding in a couple of months. Looking forward to it.
I have purchased makeup on eBay (with good results). I really wanted to try cosmetics from Etude House, Holika Holika, and Jill Stuart, but since I’m in the US, I don’t have access to them. eBay had some really great sellers who offered the products at reasonable (and even cheaper) prices, and the products were authentic and brand new. I wouldn’t buy anything expensive from eBay, but I’m glad I got the items I did!

I’m struggling with concealer – do I need it? I’m 45 but my biggest under eye problem is wrinkles. I don’t really have dark circles or bags. Believe me, I’d rather dark circles because nothing covers wrinkles! And concealer seems to make them look dryer and wrinklier. If it weren’t for my under eye wrinkles I’d look ten years younger than my age 🙁
My favorite concealer at the moment is the Maybelline Fit me concealer because it covers, it’s light weight, doesn’t crease on me and last all day.
I haven’t found my HG concealer yet, but currently I’m using one from Smashbox,
Currently using MAC Prolongwear concealer (thanks Karen) and liking the product but hating the pump dispensing too much product. Still looking for my HG undereye concealer!

While I’ve never bough makeup from eBay, I have bought both my clarisonic Mia 2 and brush heads for my clarisonic from there. It’s all been authentic and always a great price. I’d consider buying makeup from there like Korean bb creams, because I don’t trust amazon sellers.
The rumors are true–the Cle de Peau concealer is amazing. Paired with Tom Ford’s corrector in naked bisque?? MAGIC.

I’ve had a couple of good ebay makeup purchases, and one really bad one – a NARS nail polish that was obviously not “NIB,” since it separated as soon as I tried to apply it.
I’ve just bought makeup from Ebay! The first Rimmel lip pencil I bought, however was defective because the tip was mangled, so I reordered and just received a new (perfect) one and some ELF products to try.
Would love to splurge on some NARS sometime!

I used to subscribe to BeautyFix, which was a bit expensive but it was only once a quarter and the value was incredible. When it went away and was replaced by the Blush box – which cost almost as much but every month – I quit. (The sales calls from BeautyFix/Blush have started now, and I’m NOT happy about it.) I’ve decided to try ipsy instead, and will get my first bag/box next month. If that doesn’t do it for me I’m going to try either Starbox or Wantable.
I’m going back to work this week!…I could use another week off though, I’m not ready to wake up so early in the morning.
My favorite concealer for the under eye area is definitely the MAC Pro longwear, it’s really the only concealer I’ve found that won’t crease under my eyes. For blemishes I like using the Laura Mercier Secret Camoflauge concealer duo.

Favorite and HG concealer is NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard. Absolute fave even if it’s a touch darker than my skin. The lighter shades are either too light or of different understones 🙁

My favorite undereye concealer is the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer. I’ve never found another product with a shade that works so well with my skin tone AND that covers my dark circles well at the same time.
I’ve purchased nail polish on ebay, but wouldn’t consider purchasing any other type of makeup.
My favorite concealer is by IT Cosmetics. It’s so concentrated, you only need the TINIEST amount.

I was using the Kat Von D tattoo concealer which is pretty great at covering my red areas but I think I gotta switch the shade because it’s a touch too dark for me now, but I still have so much of the current tube left 🙁
I am loving NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer at the moment! The color match is spot on and it’s just right for covering my dark circles without getting cakey 🙂
The only makeup I’ve bought off ebay is the Tarter for True Blood eye shadow palette and some of my lemming OPI polishes.
It’s not a t-shirt, but my favorite shirt would be a silk and lace top that belonged to my Great-Grandmother. Not only is it gorgeous and luxurious, but it has a lot of sentimental value.

I tried a lot of concealers, high end and drugstore and at the moment I am using the Wet and Wild Camouflage concealer…and I must say…it works better than a lot of other high ends that I have tried…but is a little heavy though:(

i’m actually excited to comment about my favorite concealer! i don’t have breakouts fortunately but i’ve been looking high and low for the perfect under eye concealer that lasts all day with good coverage and creamy texture since i have super dry skin; things cake really easily under my eyes. anyways, i’m a huge fan of the nars radiant creamy concealer! it’s pretty expensive (several dollars more than other concealers at sephora) so i can totally use the gift card to splurge on the new nars radiant creamy foundation!

I really love the under-eye corrector by Bobbi Brown and the pro long wear concealer from MAC. They are the perfect combination for covering up my dark circles, plus you only need a little of each so they work out to be fairly budget friendly 🙂

I can’t find anything I like as well as MAC Pro Longwear concealer – it’s the best color match and it covers everything and lasts really well without getting clumpy or obvious. Downside – like most MAC products, it breaks me out.
I also like Tarte’s amazonian clay stick concealer. My latest purchase is the NARS concealer stick but I think the SA matched me too light. I wish I could find another full-coverage liquid concealer. Suggestions?

My favorite summer makeup purchase has been Tarte’s Aqualillies Palette. It looks absolutely gorgeous on and doesn’t budge all day/night!!
Oh, my fave under eye brightener is a dark yellow liquid concealer by Mally. It totally does the trick for me because I am tan and I don’t get darkness under the eye but puffiness. So this brings light to the shadow cast by puffiness.

Since it’s still summer hot, I’m currently using Smashbox CC cream. I haven’t used it enough to see if it’s helping my skin (it’s supposed to help get rid of dark spots) but it is nice and light and a good match to my darker summer skin. Have you tried it?

My summer is coming to an end since school starts next week. On the brighter side, it is time for me to go back to school shopping!
The best concealer I’ve found so far is the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. I find it doesn’t crease in the undereye area if I layer it over UDPP and skip setting it with a powder over where the “lines” are, and it’s emollient so it gives a gorgeous glow to the cheeks on dry skin when not powdered. The only drawback is that my mascara smudges when the concealer isn’t set, so I’m gonna try MAC’s Pro Longwear concealer next, since it seems less high-maintenance (a liquid concealer so it should set on its own) and I’ve had good results having that applied on me in-store! 🙂
so. Can we just talk about the Rimmel Apocolips (or whatever they’re called) lip laquer thingies for a minute? Wow. Super pigmented and long lasting. They’re a drugstore dupe for the YSL glossy stains for sure. 🙂

Has anyone ever been so tired and sleepy that you are falling asleep as you sit in your work area or close your eyes as your walking from place to place…just for a few seconds of coarse. That is my life right now…hope to get some R&R soon:)

i went to sephora today and was told that they wouldnt get guerlain’s fall makeup in until oct. october! that over a month away!
I’ve purchased lots of things on ebay, and one of the best things I ever purchased was limited edition too faced palette that I missed out on the first time around. It came sealed and unswatched, I was really happy with it.
I think I’m still on the search for a perfect concealer! I bought a 120 eyeshadow palette from eBay once and it was really great for experimenting.
My favorite concealer is tarte’s maracuja creaseless concealer. The medium color is perfect for my skin tone and the coverage is amazing (:
I’m currently weighing the pros and cons of dry most oil. Playing with The sample from c. Booth.. Yup my life.
I just discovered the NARS radiant concealer and LOVE it!

I subscribe to Ipsy and I looooove it, so much designer makeup! It’s way better than Birchbox, tried that for a few months and wasn’t impressed. Anyway, have a great week!

My new fave concealer is my KVD Lock It Foundation. I simply use the foundation to post conceal : )

Currently loving lip pencils in bright tropical colours (orange is a particular favourite) and creating bronze/gold smokey eyes to keep the summer feeling going despite the rain outside!

I tried Birchbox for a couple of months and I didn’t really use the products they sent so I cancelled it.
My favorite shirt is my school shirt, with our mascot the narwhal!
I love the Bobbi Brown duo concealer, so handy to have an undereye and blemish concealer in one palette, plus the textures are great!
I have the worst dark circles in the world (and no that is not an exaggeration), you can see them a mile away. They are a very deep and cool brown shade and the only thing that truly works is the Bobbi Brown Peach Corrector. I’m hoping to try out the new NARS creamy concealers on top just to cancel out some of those peach tones, but other than that very happy with my corrector!
My favourite concealer is definitely the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. Being a darker olive-toned woman, it is REALLY REALLY hard to find something that matches my skin tone; this may be the only thing I’ve found! Most things are either way too pink or wayyyy too yellow on me.

My favorite t-shirt is an antique! It’s navy blue and printed with the name of a parochial school (which I did not attend). I bought it for $5 at a yard sale. When I wear it during my travels, people often ask me what year I went there and if I
remember Sister So-and-So. It’s a great ice-breaker.
I’ve never bought makeup off of ebay but I am on the prowl to see if the alice in wonderland palette ever pops up again at not so ridiculous prices! If it does then most definitely I will.

I’m a total concealer newb… I’ve tried a couple (bare minerals; Make-up Forever) and can’t seem to get the hang of them. So I generally just rock the dark circles as best I can. 😛 Thanks for the great giveaway! 🙂
