Brr! It’s getting chilly, babe. Last night was freezing! — which makes sense, I guess, as much as I don’t like it. It’s already December…
Every winter reminds me again of how much I’m a warm weather gal. If I had my way, San Francisco would be located firmly in the tropics, and I’d be wearing shorts and flip-flops today instead of wool socks and a sweater.
Oh, well…
I know, I know, we Californians are weather wusses. I won’t deny it. It’s true. 🙂
In other news…I have no other news, haha! Nothing exciting to report. I’ve just been taking it a little easier since Thanksgiving. I watched a ton of TV yesterday (re-watched The Godfather for the bajillionth time) and actually, for the first time in what seems like ages, took a real life nap on the couch. ‘Twas glorious!
Today, I want to hit the treadmill, clean the bathroom, eat something yummy for lunch and maybe, hopefully, get a Christmas tree with El Hub.
That would be nice… We usually don’t get ours for another couple weeks, but I want to get into the holiday spirit earlier this year.

Went to my mom’s for Thanksgiving and didn’t spend a dime on Black Friday! So now I’m fully rested and ready to spend $50 at Sephora if I win!
Thanksgiving was spent having lunch at my parents’. My hubby and I avoided the Black Friday madness and went hiking instead!

Happy that I snagged my “you’ll shoot your eye out” t-shirt from target on Black Friday. The Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie!
I don’t even know what a product recycling program is, but when I finish makeup, if the container is recyclable, I do take it in.
Went to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. Even though I want to pursue being a make-up artist someday, I still think its easier for me to do make-up on my own face than doing it on other people…
I love Real Techniques brushes and their blush and powder brushes are wonderful. The third one I love is Bobbi Brown’s eyeliner brush for the gel eyeliner, which is a fantastic product.
We stayed home and had friends over. It was lovely.

I wish we celebrated Thanksgiving here, but we don’t! Next week we have the first holiday of the Christmas season, but it isn’t as important as Thanksgiving and there aren’t any big festivities.
At the last minute we saw Target was open Thanksgiving night at 8pm, so we went over there and got ALL of our shopping done. Got some great deals on presents for the kids.

I find it so much harder to put make-up on other people! I know how products work on me, the shape of my features, the texture of my skin, when to stay still… but on other people it’s a nightmare.
My favorite Christmas movie is Love Actually! Nothing beats Hugh Grant dancing to The Pointer Sisters’ song Jump (For My Love).
For Black Friday, every year for the past 6 years I travel to New York City with my boyfriend to meet up with his family and see a play or a musical on Broadway, so that was a lot of fun. Missed the Black Friday madness, but I had to be pulled away from a couple of store windows! 🙂

I had a very low key Thanksgiving with family and friends (wore my pjs all day). Did not shop on Black Friday, I hung out with my children. My fav Christmas film is A Christmas Carol starring Alistair Sim. It has a creepy feel, after all it is a ghost story, and also Alistair is awesome as Scrooge.
I loved doing Halloween makeup on my cousins, we were Day of the Dead sugarskulls!
I find that doing makeup on other people can be extremely difficult if they move around. The worst is when I’m doing there mascara and eyeliner. If the cooperate though it can be easier

I love Christmas, and picking a favorite movie/special is difficult (if not impossible). Some of my favorites include “White Christmas,” “The Muppet Christmas Carol,” and “While You Were Sleeping” (it’s sort of a Christmas-themed :)).

For Thanksgiving I went over to my uncle’s house. He has a meat smoker, so we had a smoked turkey. I did some Black Friday shopping. But Sephora messed up my order so… I don’t know what is going to happen with that.

Thanksgiving was quiet at my house. Himself and I stayed home and I cooked. Made a huge Carol-Doda-sized turkey breast (7.8 pounds) for just the two of us. Never having cooked a turkey breast with bone, I was quite befuddled as to which side went “up.” Turned the darn thing this way and that, tried to imagine legs/head/wings original places and came up clueless. While cooking it needed a “bra” as it wouldn’t stay put and kept flopping around. Did my best and I got it right! BTW, no amount of googling helped in figuring out which way was “up.” Used the SF Chronicle brine recipe–DELISH. Add to that my best-in-the-entire-world mashed potatoes, StoveTop Chicken Stuffing (OK, a tad white-trashy, but we LOVE it!), home-made cranberry relish from my grandmother’s 1890 recipe, and Claim Jumper Lattice Apple Pie (DELISH–why make from scratch when this is so good?). I was planning on doing something green but himself said that this was enough for him. So, other than the best Cranberry Relish of all time, it was an all white, ecru, tan, and light yellow meal. YUM!!!!
I’m so proud of myself, I cooked on thanksgiving and it was suuuper yummy!!!

We went over to my in-laws’ for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a pretty chill day, no complaints and lots to be thankful for.
We hosted Thanksgiving… I didn’t start shopping until (gasp!) after 7 am on Friday. I bring black pots back to Lush and tubes back to Origins on Earth Day and I terracycle my son’s diaper and wipe packaging. Thanks for offering the giveaway.

I have a hard time picking just one Christmas movie, I love pretty much all of them, even the cheesy ones on TV 🙂 I love everything about Christmas. I like doing makeup on other people sometimes, but I prefer to do mine because I feel like I have more control and can do whatever I want.
I had a great Thanksgiving because my sister was with me, and we almost lost her a few months back in a car accident we were in. So happy to enjoy her every day, love that girl!

I did go black friday shopping but I didn’t shop nearly as long as I usually do. The sales were pretty lousy this year.
I am excited because my mom is coming to visit me next week. This is her first visit to CA to our home (we’ve lived here ten years, but we always go back to visit family). The only Black Friday sale I literally participated in was AE’s 50% off for a single PJ top. I had already spent $$ on other sales prior to and am on a budget so I had to really narrow down and self talk myself into determining what I wanted to get the most lol.

I shopped online in my pajamas just about all day on Thanksgiving with my little doggie by my side. I’m just about done with my holiday shopping but to be honest I bought as much for myself as I did for other people !
Now that it’s December, I’m really looking forward to Christmas so I’ll share my favorite Christmas film, or rather genre? Anyway, I love watching those old classic (60s-80s)claymation Christmas movies like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, and Jack Frost. I grew up watching these films so even though I’m older now, I still enjoy watching them.

I had been lusting after the NARS One Night Stand cheek palette ever since it came out and I went to buy it online on Thanksgiving and it had sold out, so after a mini panic attack I decided that I NEEDED to go to Sephora the second they opened the next day, ironically Black Friday. Upon my arrival at 6 am I was blessed and found the palette sitting cozily on the shelf and now it is sitting cozily on my vanity.

I did go Black Friday shopping!! It was the first time I went in years…and now I remember why I stopped shopping on black friday!! OMG! It was wall to wall people in the mall I went to. There were lines to get into the stores. The lines to check out were really, really long because of all the 50% off sales but I’m happy though…I got most of my Christmas shopping done! 🙂

I did not do any Black Friday shopping! I did go to Walgreens on Thanksgiving morning, they had Herbal Essences Shampoo & conditioner and ponytail holders for free after register rewards, so I had to pick some up!
I find it easier to put makeup on myself, especially eye makeup. My 7 year old is a competitive dancer and trying to put makeup on her (especially mascara & eyeliner) is not very easy!!

I did shopping on black Friday and I bought some beauty products 😀 😀
We went to my boyfriend’s parents’ house at Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas. So pretty and peaceful, especially once the screaming kids left. Most of my Black Friday shopping was via the Internet, Sephora, Ulta (two new UD polishes!) and Nars orders.
My oldest son came home for thanksgiving its been over 10 yrs all my kids were together perfect!!

I didn’t go shopping on black Friday however I did get some online deals days before and on Saturday I went to Ulta and picked up something on sale that was apart of their black Friday deals. I went to the mall a few years ago on black Friday it was fun but too crazy for me lol.
I hadn’t planned to go Black Friday shopping, but my brother asked me to pick up a few things for his girlfriend (who he was spending the day with), so I headed out to the mall.
My favorite holiday movies would have to be White Christmas and Home Alone! 🙂

Went to my cousin’s house for Tday and saw the rest of the cousins, cousins’ kids, and my aunt. A great day! And yesterday, we visited art galleries on Newbury St in Boston. Hate to see the weekend end.

I’ve never used the Back to Mac program because I’ve never finished a MAC product, but I do use the Lush black pot recycling program all the time. I love getting the free face mask. The Sacred Truth is my favorite!

I FINALLY helped cook more on Thanksgiving. I made deserts, glazes, helped make and prepare the ham, the sweet potatoes and macaroni, and drinks. It was lovely. I spent it with my close family and we played scrabble and taboo for HOURS while singing whatever song that played on pandora.
The best three makeup brushes I own are all radically different: different manufacturers, different materials, and different purposes.
I use my IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Flat Top Buffing foundation brush every single day to apply my powder foundation. I haven’t found one yet that it doesn’t work with beautifully.
I use a MAC 217 to blend my under eye concealer daily, too. Haven’t found anything that works better. Seriously.
If I am using eyeliner (which is to say, just about every day) I use my tarte double-ended liner brush. The skinny end can’t be beat for gel iner, and the smudging end is perfect for applying powder or for blending out pencil. A real workhorse, and very well-made.

Didn’t do any Black Friday shopping!
I did a little Black Friday shopping, but online only. I’m trying to get things finished early this year so I don’t end up panicked and shopping at the last minute (which always equals spending more money). I’m about 2/3 done right now.
I didn’t do any Black Friday shopping. Instead, I opted to spend the day with my kids and browse pictures online of cute, adorable yorkies.
For Thanksgiving I spent time with my family for dinner at my aunt’s place and watched movies with my cousins.
In! I am totally broke, and that is not a good thing with the upcoming holidays and all 🙁

Hi. I’m from Jamaica and we don’t really celebrate Thanksgiving but I spent it at home with friends. I find it about the same doing make up for myself and others. When I’m doing it on myself I know the look I want to achieve but on others you are able to see how the makeup complements the different angles and tones of the skin. So it’s equal for me.

I’m from Spain and here we don’t have Thanksgiving Day. But I am in my first job as English teacher (a dream came true) and I was playing with my children to learn Thanksgiving vocabulary… And we also made crafts! Black Friday discounts are more and more common in Spain so I bought a pair of mascaras (YSL effet faux cils & lancome definicils) and some clothing.

I’d love to see you do an ULTIMATE HG products series (like your FAVORITE mascara, foundation, blush,etc), or what you’d bring to wear to a gala on a deserted island (or, I guess, more pragmatically speaking, what products you’d bring on a glam vacation).
I get so overwhelmed with the constant flow of beauty products coming out all the time. I want to invest in high quality stuff, but I don’t want to just invest in “new” things, I want to splurge on the best things. It’s so easy to be seduced by the bestseller lists at Sephora, et al, but I’m always conflicted.
But all that said, you’re blog is one of my favorites! When you say you really like something, I either buy it or wishlist it right away!

I think that in the end, its not the aquisition of makeup that makes you happy – I don’t think I’m actually any happier for owning three more lipglosses. I think that the key to happiness is all-inclusive. Its appreciating what you have. The makeup is really just a bonus.

The only Black Friday shopping I did was online, and I’m glad I did -Cyber Monday deals seemed to be worse that Friday’s!
My favourite brushes are the Real Techniques buffing brush, EcoTools flat top kabuki and a few months ago I treated myself at Sephora to their pro-blending brush. Would love to try higher end like MAC, sigma, etc but the price usually stops me seeing as I am still a beginner.
