Rise and shine, pal o’ mine. 🙂 Happy Caturday.
How did you sleep? Did you have any good dreams? I’m not sure if I did… Can’t remember.
I did, however, have a nice night. El Hub and I went to dinner at the Pasta Pomodoro down the street (I had a glass of moscato, which I’ve totally been into lately), and then came home.
Action packed? No, not really. But it was nice.
Today I have some household things to take care of, like grocery shopping and cleaning up the deck. We are literally down to the bare minimum in the fridge. You know how when you open the fridge and wonder, “Hmm… What can I make with half an onion, three slices of bread and some barbecue sauce?”
LOL! OK, it’s not that bad yet, but almost.
What do you have going on today? Please tell me you’re doing something fun. I have chores to do, so I need to live vicariously through you.
I slept in this morning, so I haven’t even had my first cup of coffee. I’m about to, and I’m beyond ecstatic about it. While I go make my favorite drink, why don’t you enter this weekend’s giveaway? I’ll be right back. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I generally like a simple and natural eye make up look.
It’s very sunny outside today! On the nice and warmer side too.
Hi Karen and Tabs!
The Man and I had a wild night last night! Hahah. We played bingo and watched American Hustle, so it’s cool that you chose Jeremy Renner for this weekend’s giveaway photo 🙂 Nothing cray cray today. Just boring weekend stuff for now. Next weekend, though: shenanigans!
It’s supposed to be sunny today, but I’m stuck inside studying for the whole weekend!
I’ve been wearing Maybelline Bad to the Bronze topped with UD Sin and a little eyeliner and I love it! The colors look really pretty layered together 🙂
Hi Karen! Hv a nice weekend!
Can I get Jeremy Renner AND a Sephora card, or is that just being greedy? Lol! I am going to get cup of coffee number 2, and I can’t wait!
I love neutral eye looks. I am venturing out for a little meeting and I am going to hit up Sephora to make an exchange for some Dior products. The weather outside? Starting to snow and the worst of it should be coming tonight and tomorrow which means a snow day with my dog!
I love a good cozy murder mystery novel
Right now I really like doing a smokey eye with black + a pop of color. Today I’m wearing black and fuchsia pink together.
The weather is cold (in the 20’s) but sunny today. I’m enjoying the sunshine pouring through my windows though!
I loved your side braid with daisies *______* I want that accessory too!!
Going to soak up some sun today.. It’s a warm 50 degrees 🙂
Hi Karen and Tabs!
I am loving the Real Techniques brushes.
Yay Sephora!
Oh no! Where’s Ryan???
TWO more weeks until march break…
I love a simple cat eye. The weather in NYC is actually nice 50• and sunny!
My favorite drugstore/affordable makeup brushes are the real techique brushes because they a so soft and dense. The best part is that at ulta they can be buy 1 get 1 50% off
Hi karen, hope you are having a great weekend. The weather has been so nice the past 3 days (knock on wood). It’s in the late 50’s low 60s. I do not know how to do a cut crease! They aren’t actually sold in a drugstore but I think the best cheap brushes are Coastal Scents, they have a MAC 217 dupe for only 5 bucks. Excellent brushes, most of my brush collection is CS.
I love a cat eye in a fun color
I love Sonia Kashuk brushes…the best drugstore brand.
I’m a nail art kinda girl… but when it comes to makeup I usually go simple… like maybe some sheer shimmery eyeshadow, a little navy eyeliner, and some mascara. Thanks for the giveaway!
I have been totally rocking the neutral smokey eyes lately.. For spring I love pairing it with a bright lippy (:
xx
The weather here is sunny and gorgeous ~ finally!
I think elf has great brushes , but essence has also good ones
just want the purple ones , don’t have those yet , they are pretty and I love purple
I like a subtle smokey cat eye.
Right now in SoCal, the weather is a little gloomy but nice and warm. 🙂 Wish I could transport some of the sunny weather we are having up to you.
It’s finally 60 degrees and sunny! Except it’s going to go right back down tomorrow and snow… again… forever… Sigh. It’s nice for now, though.
I love EcoTools brushes
I’ve been enjoying brown and gray smokey eyes lately!
I’m personally a big fan of Sonia Kashuk’s brushes 🙂
It’s sunny and 70 out today. I love living in SoCal!
My favorite eye look right now is mac all that glitters on the lid and mac wedge in the crease!
I stick to grayish brown shade smokey eye, that’s my favorite eye make up.
I think maybelline or loreal makes the best drugstore makeup oh and nyx!
Sunny and getting warmer – the snow is finally melting!
It’s bright and sunny outside!
It’s a beautiful sunny day here!
It’s nice and sunny..
LOL my fun right now is reading all my fave blogs. Then I’m off to work!
The weather is really Sunny today LOL
I have two favorite looks right now – I’d rather wear a very simple cat eye (with Mac Haux in the crease), or line my eyes with a either a dark blue or khaki green eyeshadow (UD Vice 2 Prank or Stash – I get a ton of compliments when I’m using Stash).
Sunny and 70!
The weather here in the Canadian Rockies is cold and snowy but sunny and bright. I imagine the ski hills are amazing today!
Real Techniques !
So the weather has FINALLY started getting warmer! Georgia’s winters are hardly ever too bad, but this year, I got five days of school off because we had so much snow or black ice (not that I’m complaining). Yesterday was windy but warm & today’s warmer! Can’t wait til I can just throw on some shorts and a tee. Having to wear jackets takes me longer to dress! 😛
I literally just got back from snowshoeing when I got your email notification. I know, how utterly Canadian of me. We only went for an hour and a half, but boy are my legs on fire! The family and I will hopefully venture out into the realm of cross-country skiing soon, which I’m super stoked about.
Its chilly out today. Not too bad, but chilly. -13 celcius (about 8 degrees Fahrenheit). Supposed to be in the -20s celcius tomorrow (-20c = -4f)
I had a really strange dream last night! I was married to Steve Perry (formerly from Journey) and we were building luxury hotels in Vegas and were arguing with the designer over carpet haha. It must have been the wine we had before bed lmao! I’m spending my day relaxing and trying to catch up on some reading. Later tonight hubs and I are going shopping. I’m liking the warm weather today. (:
I’ve really been into cool brown, taupe-like eye looks lately. I have these 3 eye shadow brushes, I have no idea what brand they are, they don’t have a brand or anything marked on them, just plain black handles 2 with brown bristles, one with black, maybe something generic from Target or Walmart, who knows, but they are excellent! I’ve been using them practically everyday for the past 5 years or so, with washing them every few months, and they are still going strong!
Today it is 63 and sunny.
yes, I wear hair extensions
New to your blog and loving it! Thanks fording a giveaway 🙂
lately i’ve just been using a bobbi brown shimmer brick as eyeshadow!
It is a beautiful day out today and finally warming up and melting all this New England snow!! We have the windows open for my kitty who is just loving it!
The weather here is WINDY! Got my hair cut and the style got blown away on my walk to the car!! It’s getting warmer though – come on spring!
im a beauty and skincare junkie.being older I try to stick to neutrals.i do amp it up a bit and add a bit of sparkle for occasions such as xmas, newyears and parties.it pains me to see how older ladies do their hair and makeuo, stuck in clown makeup and older style dos.i like to take them aside and help them.but I don’t I just agonize over it.im 48 and will be 49 this june and I use to think it a curse how I look.now I enjoy(lol) the shocked looks on peoples faces, when I tell them my age.taking care of your skin is #1.applying the right makeup is #2.start early ladies
Best drugstore makeup brushes? I’ve heard Sigma makes some great ones, but I absolutely love my Sonia Kashuk “Flat Top Multipurpose Brush” (which I purchased at Target in a pinch when I forgot a makeup brush while traveling)!
best drugstore brushes? Elf, definitely!
I like Eco Tools it think they’re good quality and at a very affordable price range. Plus i like look of the wood handles.
P/s- i think i put in my twitter handle wrong in the rafflecopter.
should be minimisfit?
Unfortunately, I haven’t been skiing this year – or for a few years before that! :/
I am loving my million dollar tan right now!
Lately I’ve been shopping my stash and using MAC eyeshadows… Shroom or Vanilla pigment as highlight, Soft Brown or Texture in the crease, All That Glitters or Woodwinked on the lid, and Folie or Glamour Check on outer corners.
It’s so nice and sunny outside today…by mid-week it’s supposed to be dreary and cold again 🙁
EcoTools are good drugstore makeup brushes.
For quite a while now my go to eye makeup look has just been a swipe of Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil (the color changes from day to day) and Maybelline Full and Soft or Ultra Plush mascara. Sometimes I smudge out the line and sometimes I don’t. Either way it is quick and easy, looks great, and stays put!
My fav eye makeup look is a soft, purple smokey eye! I absolutely LOVE purple eye shadow lately
I’m loving the copper tones right now, with a little liquid liner. So ready for it to be warm!
Its abolutely beautiful and sunny and Im in the mood to go hiking!
60’s in North Carolina!
Thanks for all your reviews!!
Sunny in CT!
Right now, my go-to look for eye makeup is subtle and polished (lots of neutrals).
It’s 77 degrees here, very hot and humid today! Lucky to be in Hawaii though 🙂
I am obsessed with Real Techniques brushes!
Here in WA. The weather sucks its always raining..too depressing
I am actually wearing clip-in extensions today and rocking a cut crease (black, white, but and yellow) for my birth island St Lucia 35 years Independence.
I like hair extensions!
Snow everywhere! 🙁
I’m loving smokey coppers/browns for my eyes right now. And I can’t get enough red lips!
The weather is partly cloudy and 45 degrees.
Real Techniques brushes are by far the best drugstore makeup brushes! EcoTools also have some good brushes and are great for beginners!
The weather is so dreary&cold.cant wait for summer.altho on the bright side (depending on how u look at it) it hasn’t been as rainy as it usually is this time of year on the coast of N.Cali
It’s cold and cloudy. Heard it’s suppose to snow tonight, which I’m not too happy about! I really want spring to get here!
Really great weather here today, 60 and sunny. It almost feels like summer 🙂
I recommend EcoTools makeup brushes from the drug store!
I finally managed to get a light, work appropriate smokey eye to work, so I am all about that right now. 🙂
Snow is starting to melt here finally!
No hair extensions for me!
It is sunny and in the 60’s in Charlotte, NC today – gorgeous!
I learned how to do a cut crease eyeshadow look by searching and watching YouTube beauty / makeup videos.
I have not yet worn hair extensions, but I have wanted to try them.
I love neutral eye shadows and cat eyed eye liner. I want to venture out and try more colors.
I have trouble keeping eyeliner on my lower lash line. I try eye primer there, but it sinks into my fine lines…any tips or liner recommendations?
It’s windy here but thankfully sunny.
Sun is finally making an appearance today! 🙂
I’ve never really tried hair extensions but I’ve thought about them.
Today is a beautiful sunny day!!! Me and the kids are loving it!
the weather here is currently snowing
I’d love it.
About 50 degrees and sunny — so much better than all the snow we’ve had lately!
Lately, my go to eye look has been light and neutral, with a pale yellow beige lid, light brown crease and black-brown liner. I use Naked Basics to achieve it.
Today the weather sucks, it’s cold 🙁
I’ve been looking for a clean green smokey eye for a day look. Haven’t found it yet.
My favourite eye look right now is pastel eyeshadows (mostly pink or lavender) combined with a bold dark lip, I’ve also been liking cut creases a lot lately. In my opinion, Real techniques are the best makeup brushes you can have at the drugstore right now.
In canada it’s sunny but still a little bit cold and windy and I don’t know how to ski.
No, I do not wear hair extensions
the weather is nice for once!
Should I give up on trying to win?
I’ve been sick and the biggest headline on the local news is “Roads still awful; officials continue to advise no driving.” And my boss is trying to bully me into coming to work. The roads are AWFUL, seriously, and you want me to risk my life and come out there? No thanks. And yet this STILL makes me feel bad about myself! WTF! I could sure use a win…
The weather is lovely, but I feel icky.
It’s a beautiful sunny day!
Hair extensions weird me out. I have long hair though, so no need!
It’s finally beautiful out today 🙂
The best drugstore brushes I’ve ever found were Eco Tools.
I’m super awkward, so I’m just going to talk about the weather. It’s finally sunny, but next week it’s supposed to snow again, which is depressing. But your blog makes me happy even on snowy days. 🙂
I’ve been loving the new Zoya Pixiedust pics! Can’t wait to buy them!:)
I love this site. I just found it and I’ll definitely be back!
55 and sunny in NYC – a wonderful change of pace after such a rainy, cold past couple of weeks!
It’s spring like today with all this snow around! Hopefully it all melts!
Lately my favorite eye look is a bronzy cream eyeshadow (Maybellines Bad to the Bronze) with a brown liner ( Urban Decays Whiskey liner). I’ve been itching to try the gorgeous eye look you did using MACs Amber Lights and Nars Fez!
Other then some pieces I wrote this week end and trying a new wine, my week end has been boring. It’ been raining and 45 here in Germany.
While watching The Avengers with my daughter last weekend, she told me Jeremy Renner used to work as a makeup artist! How cool would it be to have him do your makeup?!
It’s been raining the last couple of days so the snow has melted and today it was sunny and beautiful. So glad that spring is coming!
The Real Techniques brushes are great!
This week if I did all matte neutral shadow on the eyes. I’ve also been enjoying the new Tarte colored clay foundation. As far as weather it’s getting warm out here in the desert already.
Have you been skiing or snowboarding this year?
I have not gone yet this year. 🙁 It has been so cold, but I am hopefully going tomorrow. Fingers crossed. 🙂
This week I did all matte neutral shadow with black eyeliner. I’ve also been enjoying the new Tarte colored clay foundation. As far a climate, it’s getting warmer here in the desert.
My favourite drugstore brushes are either Real Techniques or Sonia Kashuk.
I have a bunch of sonia kashuk brushes that do the trick. Lately i’ve been playing with glittery eyes…got a bunch of sugarpill chromalusts and have been slowly ramping the amount of glitter up in my work looks.
It’s sunny today, but we’re digging out from yet another massive snow dump!
First warm day in NY in AGES! 52 right now! Yay!
It was a beautiful day in London today, but I think the rain’s coming back 🙁
If you give me Renner I won’t even mind not winning the voucher!
<3
Mid 50s today in NYC so why oh why do I have yet another cold? This isnt fair.
Do you know how to do cut crease eyeshadow? Nope, I don’t even know what that is!
What’s the weather like today? Gorgeous.
Have you been skiing or snowboarding this year? Nope.
I find applying eyeliner is difficult. I tried liquid and gel, but seems to have bad results. I hope I can keep on practicing to get it down and not have to take up an hour just to do one eye lol.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a cut crease and cat eye work for my eye shape. Right now I’ve been wearing a lot of different purple tones on my eyes.
Its’s hot and sunny in Hawaii! Too bad I have to go to work in an hour. 🙁
It is such a wonderful day outside! Spring make up is on 🙂 (at least for today)
Well the weather on the east coast, like everyone knows, is horrible right now. But, today we got some much needed vitamin D, with the temperature going up to 53ºF. So let’s just say, Central Park and I are reacquainted.
Hair extensions were a nightmare for me.
I’ve always wanted to wear hair extensions, but in the end I end up because a friend of mine had a trouble with them.
I do not wear hair extensions
I can’t wait to try Nars Matte Multiples
My favorite eye look right now is a elegant cat eye. It really adds something special to the look and elongates my eyes. =)
Happy Caturday, Karen.
Good afternoon Karen! I just got my hair colored and cut to a nice shoulder length bob, so I’m ready to update my makeup as well! I usually keep my lips very minimal, (I’m talking Chapstick minimal), so my goal this spring is to take a chance on bright lippies.
My favorite eye look recently has been to layer Lorac’s pewter eyeshadow over Tarte’s taupe Smoldereyes jumbo liner, and throwing some Lorac Mauve into the crease as a transition shade!
I think that the best drugstore-priced makeup brushes are Real Technique brushes 🙂
It’s 65 degrees here in Atlanta!!
It’s snowing on the west coast today, so it’s an in-day. I’ve been loving my new Cargo St. Tropez eyeshadow lately, buttery smooth! Always enjoy your daily blog posts Karen! 🙂
My favorite eye look lately has been simple and fun — a neutral eye with a pop of bright eyeliner on the lower water line. Super fast and now that spring’s almost here I’m loving the pop of color!
The weather was in the mid 50s today and sunny finally! We went shopping today too. Yea for Saturdays!
Hello.. Enjoy the weekend
i was just reading a past post about discontinued products that broke our hearts… so here are mine:
– lancome ablutia- the most beautiful perfect pink cleanser i’ve ever used. i wish i could find it now. they discontinued it in 2007, i think. i want it to meet my clairisonic..
-mac goldbit eyeshadow- i have been searching forever for this eyeshadow.. it was my first mac product ever in like, 2002 or 3… and it ran out and it never came back 🙁 i have ud sin… which apparently is like it? but at this point i barely even remember the original!
-clean and clear NIGHT lotion- also really great! there was a ‘day’ and a ‘night,’ and night was very gentle. i stole it from my sister, who didn’t care for it…
if you have any goldbit ideas, let me know! i don’t think i’ll ever find the other two…
It started snowing in Vancouver this morning! It’s not going to stick, but being in a flurry of snowflakes made me feel like I was Elsa from “Frozen.” Haha! 🙂
My favorite drugstore brushes are the real technique one. However, there are a couple from the Elf and Sonia Kashuk that I like as well.
My fav non-high end retail brushes are the pixi brushes at Target. They have long enough handles without making me feel awkward and the strands themselves are actually quite…silky. I know that sounds weird but trust me. If we must be all technical I’ll have to say Eco Tools are my fav drugstore makeup brushes. They are very durable and the bristles are fairly soft. Also, they come in great little carrying cases and since they’re made with almost 100% good stuff I don’t have to worry too much. Good luck fellow raffle entries. Happy Caturday to all!
For the price, e.l.f. studio brushes are great drugstore brushes! But Real Techniques are my favorite drugstore brand brushes. I like Ecotools as well, but feel like RT has better selection.
It was like a spring day here but I had to take a class. I so look forward to when it is spring everyday!
Best drugstore brushes? For me it’s a tossup between ELF and EcoTools
The weather was nice today, the one nice day of the week!
It was still cold today but the sun was actually out!!! Yay!! So I went shopping at Target…I love that store so flippin much!
I have never worn extensions but I would love to try them someday.
It was 60 degrees in Maryland today, which is strange since we got over 16 inches of snow just a week ago.
I don’t wear hair extensions because my hairdresser says my hair is too thick. He would need to use like a zillion so that it didn’t look like I had a rattail in my hair, ick…
I’m really into bronze/brown smokey eyes at the moment with a subtle pink lip 🙂
I love wearing neutral eyeshadows. I normally put on some matte brown eye shadow and then do cat eyes over it
I am currently lovinngggg your youtube channel!!!
Still looking for a nice basic eye palette!
I had a great birthday party last night! 😀
Ecotools is my jam.
My favourite eye look right now is a smokey eye using the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone palette – the green eyelid and crease shades – and my old faithful UD Naked Basics.
You might already know, but did you know Jeremy Renner used to be a makeup artist? I wish he could do my makeup…
61F in Galveston for the first weekend of Mardi Gras – just hope the rain holds off long enough for the parades to get rolling!
It’s really hot and sunny here in Brazil! Have a great weekend!
I went skiing on Christmas Eve last year! It was a lot of fun and actually snowed unexpectedly!
It was warm and rainy today
I think Eco Tools make the best drugstore brushes. The prices are reasonable and I like the variety of brushes they have. I find they really work well for me.
I love the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes!
I was a very warm day but cloudy :O
I love real techniques brushes!
I’m loving Chanel Cream Blush in Chamade!
I love a brown smokey eye
Eco Tools definitely makes the best drugstore brushes!
This weekend, I’m taking a three-day long self defense class. It was absolutely wonderful! I’m learning a lot and I was lucky enough to meet some amazing women.
Today it was a bone chilling -20 degrees celsius but the sun was brigh and warm so that helped. 😀
Finally warm weather! Going food shopping and errand running in anticipation of next week’s snow – yep, Mother Nature is kicking our booties in the northeast.
Snow is melting! Snow is melting!
I just got myself a pot of MAC Fluidline, so I’m ready to give cat eyeliner more than a passing try!
It was sunny and got up to 50 degrees here in NH. Still have a LOT of snow that needs to get melted away.
So glad it’s the weekend!
I’ve been doing a lot of neutral taupey, slightly smoky eyes lately.
64 degrees and nice 🙂
Somehow 50 felt like summer today. Loved it!
My favorite drugstore brushes are Eco Tools!
Just so u know your Rafflecopter says the contest ends in 30 days.
I used to wear hair extensions but I don’t anymore. I’d love to get them back. I had tape in ones but I hated how they felt. If I get them again they’ll be sew in.
I have never tried hair extensions before because I have always had really long, thick hair!
I slept in too! My daily cup of coffee came in late today lol
Enjoy your weekend, Karen!
There is a R99 an item sale at my favorite designer shop ,now should I get up now and wait in line at my local shopping centre ?Its going to be busy man but hey that’s kind of fun if you think of the bargains
rgroyer@gmail.com
I am totally into the Dior Addict Lip Glow! Best stuff evvvvvvv-ah! 🙂
It was sunny and amazing today BUT so muddy from all the melting snow from last week. Now I have loads of laundry to do from my kids playing outdoors. All SEVEN of them 🙁 . Oh well, at least I had some quiet time :).
I am jealous of your warm weather, I am in Minnesota and we are at 0 degrees with windchill of -15. I love checking your blog daily especially anything on MAC and Nars products. Have a great day Karen!
I have a few items I’ve been meaning to pick up (for instance, I don’t own a white/light eyeliner for corners!) from Sephora! Fingers crossed.
I have a few items I’ve been meaning to pick up (for instance, I don’t own a white/light eyeliner for corners!) from Sephora! Fingers crossed.
Did a massively black smokey eye today to compare some black eyeshadows in action — man, what a difference! 😮
My driveway is a solid sheet of ice from the past couple days’ melt-and-freeze!
Ecotools have the best drugstore brushes! They’re so soft!
Got a new phone finally but having a heck of a time activating it. Can’t buy the sim in person, so it looks like I’ll be waiting several more days. Ah well 🙂
It’s been a cold winter here in Alberta. Even though we have some amazing mountains so close I’ve always been a cross-country skiier as opposed to downhill. But with the windchill lately even that has been out of the question. 🙂
Thanks for running the contest.
Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes are good for a “drugstore” brand.
i see youve changed to renner , or are you just giving gosling a break this week?
Weather was beautiful here in Arizona! 75 or so.
I like green tea ice cream
The weather was beautiful today!
Lol, funny how the comment average per post (something like 20 or less) jumps for for a giveaway! No criticizing, just observing! 😀 I’m trying to start doing “self care sundays” where in there is scented candle lighting, book reading, and other activities that may be performed in one’s pajamas. It’s how I get ready for Mondays!
I’m watching the Olympics.
I’m watching the Olympics.
Warm here today. Hi, Karen and Tabs!
Somehow related to the post… in 5 days I’ll be visiting my family in Spain… where there’s a Sephora (there’s none where I live now /sadpanda). My wallet is already shaking but boy, am I happy.
I think Ecotools have the best drugstore brushes. Maybe Sonia Kashuk is also a good buy.
Happy Saturday, Karen! I went to IKEA today and to a Sephora inside JC Penney so it wasn’t as good as a regular Sephora but I fell in love with a new lip combo! But I didn’t buy anything…
I like a good warm green-brown blend daytime eye :).
I am loving the brown smokey eye,it complements my dark brown eyes!
i love tabs! he reminds me of pusheen 🙂
Have a great sunday!!
Since giving birth 2 weeks ago, I must confess that my favorite eye look at the moment is a rested eye!
Weather is cold and snowing!
ELF studio and real techniques do some amazing makeup brushes.
The weather is so cloudy and moist, however the sun tends to show from time to time..So mixed up!!
My most used eye look lately is MAC All that glitters and Sable on the lid with a matte brown in the crease. I’ve also been getting good use of the Meet Matte Nude palette to make some nude cat eyes.
Would love to try Hourglass products!
– Hair extansions? – No mam, I don’t. 🙂
I am going through each of my palettes on a weekly basis so they get some love… coming up next – UD Feminine Palette!
My fave eye look right now is spring colors–pale shimmery green with lilac or a peachy-pink.
Eco-tools makes great brushes! especially their blush brush!
I have been loving wearing a light cream eyeshadow all over the eye, like Makeup Geek’s Vanilla Bean, and the doing a simple winged liner with Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Liner in Midnight- it is a gorgeous dark blue that doesn’t look flashy and brings out my brown eyes! Love it 🙂
Hey Karen!
love your Blog, wish I could get all products here in Germany too! Last week I found my holy grail Foundation which is Estee Lauder Double wear and it’s the first foundation which doesnt make me break out, I’m just so happy about that!
<3
Christiane
Your photos crack me up!! You are hilarious and your blog is so fun to read! 🙂
Okay, so I know this means I’m totally out of the loop, but I have NO IDEA who the guy is in the photo… my first thought was “young Gordon Ramsay?”
And then I cracked myself up with the thought of Gordon Ramsay in Sephora. “THIS EYELINER IS ABSOLUTE SH*T!”
Real Techniques is the best drugstore makeup brush brand for sure!
It’s actually slightly warmer now than it has been, thankfully!!
Hi Karen! The weather is beautiful, I think it’s supposed to be in the 80’s. I have never been snow boarding or skiing but it’s something I’d like to try. I have however been sledding in Vermont, it was so much fun. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I love your kitty!
We had NO coffee this morning, so I was pretty sad until I finally found some samples of folgers instant coffee in a drawer…wasn’t the best but it saved my morning!!!
That Jeremy Renner image is hilarious, Karen. For some reason, his head looks like it’s been photoshopped onto another body.
Watching the winter olympics has make me wish I could snowboard or ski, but unfortunately I never have. One day!
I’m just going to paint my nails, clean, and my bf and I are taking my bro for a bday lunch.
I’ve been really into the UD eyeshadow Melt lately, which came from one of their BYOP quads… it’s a peachy champagne!
my favorite look is a puppy eye
Hi! I’m a eye shadow kinda girl. So, my favorite eye look at the moment is a gradient/ombre type look within the same color family. Thank-you!
Favorite eye look right now is brown smoky eye a classic look for everyday! X
I just woke up, and I sadly also have chores to do today. I’ve been sick with a cold for the past week (still coughing) and haven’t done any cleaning!
If I could have Jeremy Renner helping me out today, that would be fantastic!
The weather is gorgeous in NYC!
What’s your favorite eye look right now? I recently got the long-coveted NARS habanera eyeshadow duo so I’ve been playing around with looks, adding some other purple shades from my collection too to give it some more color. I’m obsessed with the mint from habanera though, it’s such a high-quality super star shadow.
What’s the weather like today? Super bright sushine, a ton of snow and ice on the ground. Crystal cold and clear here in the midwest US.
I love a simple eye… light shadow with soft liner and mascara.
My favorite eye look right now is just a little bronzer to define the crease and on the lid I pat on a finely milled silver glitter shadow from an old Chanel quad just to get some nice shine.
I’ve never worn hair extensions before.
The weather is absolutely horrible very windy and cold!!
I’m tired of this cold Midwest weather and miss sunny days:)))
I like golden/copper or bold and fresh monochrome make up look, like vintage one, like the blue/turquoise in classic film Angelique. I though have to wait for my experiment cause my eyelids have irritation. 🙂
Spoiled by California weather! Though that usually means my makeup melts off.
Sunny last two days-YEAH. 20degrees-BOOOO.
In Northern Virginia, the snow has almost all melted… and should soon, because it’s 60 degrees out today!
After months of ice and snow, the weather is so gorgeous- sunshine and spring-like. 🙂
Hi Karen! I should be doing homework but, my favorite “drug store” esque makeup brushes would have to be Sonia Kashuk’s or E.L.F. They both are durable brands that sell essential brushes!
Right now I really like strong but neutral eyes (if that makes sense?) I love the Maybelline colour tattoos and have been experimenting with bolder looks from my Naked. I adore the look of the Stila foil shadows but can’t justify the price!
I am loving the cat eye look with neutral eye shadow I am using my Urban Decay palette and love it!
I prefer the coppery golden eye.
I prefer the coppery golden eye.
I love the new ambient lighting blushes!
Well the weather is finally nice in the North East-Sunny and 55!
I’m enjoying the sun today!
My favorite eye look consists of anything with the Naked 3 palette.
I am SO HAPPY The sun has decided to join me this weekend! This has been a extremley long winter for all of us in the Norteast! We finally had 2 decent days in a row!!! The temps were in the 40’s and with no SNOW or rain!! I can almost smell grass, wait.. That’s my candle, but I do hear a bird chirping!! I might as well smile now because living in New England the weather changes with a snap of the finger. We are expecting more snow on Tues and possible Wed. With temps in the teens at night! Winning An E Gift certificate would be the faster wat to put some color in my life seeing my candle is almost burned out!!
I think Sonia Kashuk’s makeup brushes are the best I’ve found at the drugstore (well, technically Target). Her entire makeup line is pretty nice.
I’m not a fan of cut crease eyeshadow…
I’ve never been interested in hair extensions.
For good brushes I’d go with eco tools and defo real techniques!
I have such a hard time with eye shadows and crease work cuz I have a fully hooded eye and I’m only 30 (think Blake Lively) =( sorry don’t mean to be a Debbie downer just feeling frustrated today… a gift card would surely cheer me up lol
I love all your beauty reviews and thanks again for the giveaway!
Lately I’m wearing Prism by Hourglass. Bought it because of you, Karen, and love it!
I have been obsessed with smoky eye looks at the moment, because I feel like I’ve finally perfected the look for my eye shape! Still scared to even attempt a cut-crease though…
I can’t do a cut crease
Ack! Crap, tomorrow’s Monday. 🙁
Hi Karen!! It’s 55 degrees, sunny and beautiful near Philadelphia today. By the way, who’s the guy in the blue shirt with all the muscles??
The weather is sunny & warm right now!
Karen,
I was reading your comment about your eyebrows not cooperating with you and the 2 items you use to help which also lighten up your brows. I find that a very interesting trick which I will try. I have never used anything with color on my brows at all. I have one suggestion to offer you too. When you don’t feel like the extra color, use mustache wax. I find it in CVS or Walgreens where they sell the men’s shaving items. A little goes a long way and it is sure to tame those brows. Sometimes I even use it on my hair when my bangs are not cooperating with me!
Thanks for all you tips too!
Have you been skiing or snowboarding this year? Not this year, not ever. But I hope to try sometime. It sounds like I would be fun.
Sonia Kashuk brushes are so great!
ELF brushes are great!
Very cool!
It won’t stop snowing here! Can’t wait for spring!
I am loving a simple winged eyeliner, and have enjoyed playing with my Naked palette.
Weather is GORGEOUS! Took my homework and boyfriend outside for a study date at the park but in reality ended up watching all the cute doggies playing fetch. Still worth it!
Weather in SoCal beach town is sunny and 70, as usual!
My skin is no longer dry as the desert and is returning to its oily self.
Part of me is gonna miss the dryness. There was no risk of the shinies.
i love sephora!!
This has been one cold and snowy winter. Sigh! I can’t wait for the warm weather to come. 🙁
it finally warmed up for a couple of days so i could do some yard work and the high next week is supposed to be in the 20’s. brrr!
What is the best drugstore makeup brushes? I really do want to know.
I love most of the Real Techniques brushes I’ve tried.
My favorite eye to wear on a night out night is a brown smokey eye or plumish smokey eye.
I haven’t been sleeping well lately, so my eye makeup has been all about making me look a bit less dead. I’ve stuck to lots of mascara, something light and shimmery on the lids, and silver pencil on the lower waterline. Fake it ’til you make it, right?
going with more bright colors rather than the usual black & white
I’ve been going with more neutrals than my usual brights if only to put a dent in them before returning to my normal self! That, and I’m lazy.
You know what sucks? Car accidents. I was in one today. I want to put it all behind me.
I’m really into metallic eye shadows and eyeliners. I’ve given up on perfecting the cat eye, but I’m into extending the lashes with lengthening mascara. 😉
Hola Karen, I enjoy reading your newsletter and blog. Over the past year, I started learning about and seeking out beauty bloggers that held my attention. You are one of the women I like. First because you are a women with skin color close to mine and second your passion for make up and third love of cats care close to my heart. I have one tabby and one tuxedo cat: Baby and CoCo. My Baby, tabby, is especially spoiled and close to me. At times she thinks and acts like the boss around this joint. I love her to death as she comforts me when I am ill. It seems like a long time ago, in 2005, I was injured in a car accident. My spine was damaged. My baby sticks by me on those bad days and plays with me on the good days. I love her perhaps more than make up. And i love my make up. On some days I play up my eyes with different colors and bare lips. On other days, I like the bare eye look with cats eyes and crazy red lips. It must be the Latina in me, I am lusting all the time for great red lipstick. It would be an honor and big surprise to win the $50 dollar gift certificate. I would definitely buy some new foundation, as Spring and Summer is right around the corner. Also my foundation is close to the bottom. Hope to hear good news and enjoyed chatting with you. Blessings. Glorya
I never use or wear hair extensions, and the weather,, here in spain, near of the coast it’s so good, sunny, i love it!
I had the best churros out at dinner Sunday night. I’ll be dreaming about them… ahhhhh. 😀
I’ve always wanted to try a tom ford eyeshadow quad!
I dont wear extentions and dont really like them. I used to wear it with braids and had a wavy extension once but I rather just have my hair out
omg i love jeremy renner!!
I think that eco tools makes the best drugstore brushes! they are soft, blend well, and no shedding! Best retractable kabuki out there!
I love the Sunday Tabs posts, they crack me up. The cat that co-starred with him in The Tabs of Wall Street looks just like one of my cats.
I love Eco tools brushes 😀
lovely weather here 🙂
thanks
yay!
Love your blog! You should make this box to the top of all comments!!!!!
I love moscato! I want some now!
Sochi 2014 is over! Now I’ve got all this free time…
I bought Clarins Opalescent powder after reading your review – and the tropical pink lipstick :p
I haven’t been skiing since I was a kid.
The weather here was beautiful this weekend.
I’m in love with the Real Techniques brushes!
Best thing to do on a Monday at work: enter MBB sweepstake 🙂 Thanks Karen, you are bored procrastinators’ friend!
Real Tecniques! All. The. Way
things on the makeup brain these days include – lilac lips and daytime friendly brown smokey eyes – would love to get my hands on a fluffy white bristle eye brush set from somewhere. My little brush collection is an incomplete little mixed bag as of now.
it’s kinda windy here at my place so i’m gonna put on my trench coat and get some delicious mangoes 🙂
Looks like we’re back to cold here in Pennsylvania.
I’m a cat lady too! My cat’s name is pompom!
I love moscato! Lately I’ve be doing a neutral eye look with some shading in the crease. Elf studio brushes are a great bargain and work like a charm 🙂
no skiing or snowboarding for me—but the weather here in San Diego is amazing!!!
I went with my hubby to his uncle’s 80th birthday party yesterday and it was nice to see all his family!
I finally picked up an Hourglass Ambient Blush and I am in LOVE! Not sure if its lust, but there’s affection there. I tried it out all weekend: went heavy with it for dinner/drinks on Saturday, and a light halo effect for Sunday brunch. Need to make a pitstop at Sephora for a return today, and just noticed it magically appeared in my bag. Who in the what?! LOL Radiant did not want to stay home today smh
I don’t know how to do a cut crease look. In fact, I’m not even entirely sure what that is exactly. Feel free to educate me! 🙂
I usually go for some kind of bronzey-brown smudged smokey eye, unless I’m feeling like purples or pinks. 🙂
The weather will be in the high 60s/low 70s. I have not been skiing this winter [sad face].
I haven’t been snowboarding b/c the So Cal weather has been too warm! Hoping to head up north sometime next month.
Ahhh, Sochi, it was fun, bye!
I pretty much do a neutral eye every day. Either gray or bronze…and every once in a great while I’ll do a purple one. (since I have green eyes)
Despite the fact that I live in the Northeast, I haven’t been brave enough to attempt skiing this year 🙂
Love your blog!
I love a smoky eye with dark purple eyeshadow
It’s in the 30s today, but Saturday was in the 60s and was so nice!!
My favorite eye look right now (and pretty much the only one I can do decently is just a light smoky purple from the Laura Mercier Artist Palette – African Violet on the Lid with Kir Royal in the crease and Violet Ink in the outer V.
Best drugstores makeup brushes – Real Techniques
liking clinique’s cc cream in medium-deep lately!
My favorite look right now is black eyeliner with a bright red lip.
my favorite look right now is a bright olive green shimmer pop of color around dark brown and a bit of gold in the corners.
I’m a neutrals kinda girl…but I do love to wear purples as well.
Today…I’m wearing “Bare Skin” by Bare Minderals…over 2/3 of my eye and that’s it. Lightly filled in my brows and light foundation (UD Naked Skin ) and setting poweder…as pretty basic as it gets for a Monday!
Hey! I’m normally a lurker here, but decided to chime in for the giveaway! I’ve been on a pretty steep learning curve when it comes to makeup. In recent weeks, I’ve been practicing using 2-3 colours of eyeshadow in a single look. Previously, I used just one colour all over with a winged liner.
Today is unfortunately not as warm as this past weekend on the east coast. Brisk and windy.
And my favorite drugstore brushes are Real Techniques of course. Every day staples that I can’t believe I didn’t always own.
I mostly do neutral eyes, but love to mix in peach and purple.
I’m catching up on Nashville episodes with my mama tonight. Also on the hunt for an eyeliner that will stay on my upper waterline, seems like an impossible dream.
I love a good smokey eye any day of the week, lately I’ve been going with a lot of warm browns in the crease, anything with something like MAC’s Brown Script is always perfect! & most of the brushes I use on the daily are actually from ELF, works for me!!! 😀
I use to wear hair extensions, but decided to take them out for the sake of my actual hair! Thanks for the giveaway!
I really like EcoTools’ makeup brushes!
I went skiing at my local ski resort in Indiana. A kid from my town, Nick Goepper, went to the Olympics and won a gold medal at the Sochi olympics 🙂
sadly i have hooded eyelids, so cut creases don’t really work for me. 🙁 which i’m super sad about because i love cut creases! i run into that problem a lot now that i’m trying to become better at makeup-my eye shape prevents me from being able to do certain looks.
I’ve been wanting to do a cut crease forever, but with my hooded eyelids it’s just not meant to be!
My favourite look right now is anything I can make with the naked 3 palette 🙂
One of my favorite go to looks right now is the simple cat eye with a bold lip color!
Hi! I am interested in getting a cat or two. Do you have any advice for a first time owner? Thanks for the help.
*heart* Karen
The weather is cold but sunny!
I’ve been really into berry and raspberry reds lately!
I can’t do a cut crease to save my life but, I’m determined to get it right.
I don’t wear hair extensions but I would for more volume!
I think the best “drugstore” brushes are from Real Techniques. Sonia Kashuk makes a few gems, but RT has a better reputation- making it more reliable and worth the chance, in my opinion.
the weather is way better here now that the snow (as pretty as it it was) has went away and the feel of spring is in the air.
Giving another shot to winning the Sephora gift card ;)One of my favorite eye looks is a brown/copper smokey eye but lately I have been digging a burgundy & wine smokey look…gud luck to everyone for the contest!
I’m putting together a beauty gift for a friends wedding…this would help so much!
The eye look I’ve been wearing most lately has been a predominately neutral eye with a pop of color under the eye
I’m really feeling cat eyes right now but I go back and forth between that and smoky eyes.
I am a lipstick hoarder 😉
I’ve been going for rosy-hued eyeshadow recently (I blame the Naked 3 for that one!)
My patience struggles, as the second season of ‘Hannibal’ begins on Friday! ^_^
I have done absolutely noting that I was supposed to do today (clean the house or do laundry). My favorite current eye look is to do a gold and bronze smokey eye.
best drugstore brushes – real techniques
I prefer simples eyes. I usually just wear mascara and sometimes a little eyeshadow but probably because I still don’t know how to put eyeliner on my monolids yet, lol.

I’m loving a neutral shimmer shadow with a matte brown crease and just light liner on the bottom lashes, and tons of mascara to help me look awake! MAC woodwinked has made my life complete 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway!
i can kinda cut the crease
I love doing a basic cat-eye with statement lips. Features both parts of my face without being overly dramatic!
I’m lovin my Naked 3 palette:)
The weather here has been really nice (upper 70s, sunny) but it’s really kicking my butt (yay allergies).
sunny here in Florida but with storm warnings all around
I wish I knew how to create a cut crease eyeshadow look.
I am in serious need of a ULTA and Walgreen’s beauty shopping spree! This winter air is so drying so I especially need some moisturizer, cuticle cream, and a balm-like lip colour.
I don’t know how to do a cut crease look, but that’s fine because I don’t think it’ll look good on my eyes anyway.
My current favorite eye look (when I apply makeup–I’m a stay at home mother and wife) is smoky brown look. To make each look different, I use a variation of browns from different eyeshadow palettes such as the Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 and Wet and Wild’s limited edition Nude Awakening. I then pair each look with a black pencil liner on my water lines, black mascara on my lashes, a neutral toned blush and lipstick/lipgloss.
I’m rather partial to Real Techniques brushes. Definitely worth more than they’re charging.
I had hair extensions once and they were so painful – I couldn’t keep them in longer than a week!
My favorite makeup brand is a mix between SugarPill and LimeCrime I’m really into funky colors and those two brands are exactly what I love. And they are cruelty free!!

Je n’ai pas d’extensions pour les cheveux mais j’adorerai en mettre ou acheter des extensions à clips de chez belami
merci à toi
I like a bright red matt lip with lots and lots of mascara. It is my go to look when I cannot figure out what to do with my face.
The weather is bitter here in Louisville, KY. The high on Saturday was 63 and by Sunday is was snowing. Ugh, we need Spring to pick up the pace!
It’s warm and sunny in Florida today!!
Another giveaway ?! Fab blog!
Generally i just like a simple eyeliner look with a bold lip (coz i looooooovve lipsticks)… but recently since ive gotten married ive just been dabbling into eyeshadows and ur brown smokey eye tutorial is definately a hit 🙂
When taking pictures at formal events such as graduations that have taken four hours, please be merciful. The graduate is standing in 93 degree heat and is happy but truly ready to get out of the gown and into some shorts and go eat. 🙂
