- Buying the same lipstick color over and over again but in different finishes because yes, I need the same pinkish nude in matte lipstick *and* lipgloss forms.
- Spending a seemingly exorbitant time contemplating bangs. Hey, it’s a major lifestyle change and not to be taken lightly.
- Having an army of shampoos and conditioners in the tub/shower. Sometimes your roots need clarifying and sometimes they don’t.
- Using 2-3 mascaras just to leave the house! When I was a makeup maximalist, I had a tube specifically for curl and length, another for volume, and another tube just for my lower lashes. There’s something kinda magical about mascara with a very specialized purpose.
- Never, ever finishing a bottle of perfume, ever.
- Going through a phase when you don’t want to wear a lot of makeup.
- Going through a phase when you do want to wear all the makeup and then some.
- Carrying around multiple sunscreens. Side note, right now in my purse I have two, both by Shiseido – the liquid one in the blue bottle and the solid form in the stick (I like it for my hands and my arms when I’m in a hurry).
- Unabashedly staring at a stranger who’s clearly spent a lot of time and care painting their face and then complimenting them on a job well done. Makeup is an art, and I love seeing people wear their art in everyday life!

P.S. Happy Wednesday!

Once I saw a hotel employee (front desk) who had perfectly applied blush. I wanted to compliment her but thought it would seem weird or inappropriate, so I didn’t.
I’m guilty of getting essentially the same shade in lipstick and lip gloss over and over again. It’s what I think looks good on me – anything else is taking a chance that my lips would look strange or disharmonious to others.
I totally get it. I keep buying the same pinkish nude on repeat. LOL!
Lip products are my weakness. I am always looking for the “perfect” shade/finish/formula.
I always compliment people on their makeup…especially strangers😊. I think it’s nice to be seen sometimes. If you are a makeup girlie, I think you appreciate people noticing your effort.
Yes! I do it all the time. 🙂 I compliment people on their makeup, their hair, nails — anything and everything. It’s such an easy way to spread a little joy and requires no effort, ya know?
As I wear less and less eye shadow I wear more and more lip products. My colors fall into two main and one lesser category. That dusty rose pink a la TF Indian Rose or NARS Dolce Vita or the reddish plum raisin color of MAC Spice It Up!, Clinique Black Honey or the long gone Stila Natalie. And to a lesser degree a good true red.
I no longer contemplate bangs because every time I have cut my hair to have bangs I’ve regretted it and the long grow out process.
