On this last day of 2021, truth be told I’m not feeling the usual sense something ending and something new beginning. In the effort to impart a sense of newness for 2022, today I plan to a few beauty things so I can at least try a little to feel like I’m starting fresh, and yes, of course I have a list!
Beauty things to do before the new year
- Wax my upper lip hair.
- Pluck and trim my brows.
- Put on a mega moisturizing hair mask, and leave it in while I watch the new episode of “And Just Like That.” Man, I know I said I wasn’t going to get sucked in, but at this point I’m already invested and don’t fee like I can get off this train, ya know?
- Paint my fingers and toes. I’m thinking OPI’s I’m Not Really a Waitress.
- Do a body scrub.
- Style my hair! I’ve been throwing it into a messy fun bun all week long. It’s time to actually do stuff to it!
How about you? Do you have any beauty tasks lined up for this last day of 2021?
Oh, thank you so much for all of your ideas for hobbies. I’m still not sure what hobby I’m going to choose, but I did manage to start reading a new book purely for pleasure today (“Klara and the Sun,” a science fiction story by Kazuo Ishiguro, who won the 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature), which is a start.
Enjoy the last day of this year!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

Last night I plucked my brows. The night before, I used the First Aid Beauty Calamine Pore Purging Mask. (I don’t use face masks that often, but this product does make my skin feel smooth afterwards.) Have a Happy New Year!
Aren’t freshly plucked brows the best? I swear it makes it easier to fill them out.
Happy new year, Marcia!
I’m sick so basic hygiene is where I’m at LOL! I caught something at a family Christmas (home test was positive for COVID-19, but I’m awaiting PCR results – I’m vaccinated and boosted and feel like I have a sinus infection) so I’m not very functional. I do want to cut my nails though, they’re getting too long. Might take a bubble bath.
Happy New Year, Karen!
Take care of yourself, Chelsea. Feel better soon!
Hettie is missing her walkies but is making sure I get plenty of rest.
A NYE of beauty rituals honestly sounds amazing. I’m doing a small family dinner and I’m thinking of wearing pajamas that don’t *quite* look like pajamas. I just want to be comfy!
Cheers to 2022! Wishing the whole MBB fam all the best.
Happy New Year, Karen! I’ll be working (nurse life). Thank you for the idea of doing beauty things to start out the new year! I don’t know why I have never thought of it. But to start the year off right, I should feel my best. My first day off will be dedicated to all the beauty stuff. And I think I am going to throw in some me/meditation time just to stay fully present and get the anxiety jitters out of the way so that I can make room for a new, refreshing 2022. Fingers crossed.
Happy new year! I need to redo my nails, too. It would be nice to start the new year fresh! One of my beauty goals is to learn a couple of new ways to style my hair. I found a list of easy hair styles to try so I’m excited to test them out! 🥰
I had “do my nails” on my list of things to do as well, but that didn’t happen. I did apply sparkly eyeshadow though, right before we sat down to eat, so I felt festive anyway.
