At last night’s Sex and The City: The Movie DVD release party in New York City Sarah Jessica Parker took inspiration from an icon of Hollywood style. The gloves, bangs, the black shift dress — girlfriend was obvs channeling Holly Golightly/Audrey Hepburn’s look in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
I think Audrey’s classic, timeless look in Breakfast represents the pinnacle of style. Sure, 99% of the time I dress like a bum in tank tops and jeans, but with unlimited financial resources you better believe I’d hit the Safeway wearing pearls, a tiara and a black satin gown.
At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about SJP’s interpretation of the look (the sheer gloves, eek!), but I think I’m on board. The pink patent leather shoes won me over in the end. 🙂
I wish I had a Holly Golightly dress to wear to the wedding I’m going to this afternoon in SF. One of my best friends from college is getting hitched. They’ve been dating forever, so it’s about time. I’ll take some pictures to share.
I’ll probably recycle the dress I wore to Macy’s Passport the other night (Shhh…).

With all the political press, my first thought when I saw this picture of SJP was that she was channeling Sarah Palin. LOL! Srsly, that was my first impression.
I sort of like it but not my fave look for sure.

Erg, I’ve already been to Coastal Cleanup and Dojo dan tests today, and now friends are coming over from out-of-state! I have waaay too much on my plate today! Ah well, if I can get through today, I can just be a slug tomorrow! Enjoy the wedding! 🙂

I don’t like the outfit. Hope not to offend someone but Audrey was a lot more beautiful than SJP. SJP has her own style and trying to look like Holly G is not her best idea, IMO.

I didn’t recognise that it was SJP at first…. I don’t think it’s a look that she’d done before and I’m iffy on the gloves and while I do like the shoes, I thought the colour clashed with the black dress and white clutch. Still, I do like the overall look, especially her hair style!

How was the wedding? I had one yesterday too…it was outdoors in the afternoon so I did black pants and a little plum jacket (and I think people in CO dress way, way down, even more than SF!). Your lace dress is fab, and close enough to a little black Audrey dress to be classic, especially at a wedding. Did you do red lips?

It was nice. They had a Catholic ceremony which was a bit formal and lasted a long time (lots of standing up), and afterward the reception was held at a hotel in Nob Hill. We ended up leaving early because I was super tired and was about to fall asleep right there at the wedding table. I did purple smokey eyes and light pink cheeks and lips. What look did you wear yesterday?
I actually kinda like the gloves.. I just don’t like the whole Audrey Hepburn kinda look.
I love the shoes though. 😀
She looks…awight, but not fantastic. Something’s off…I can’t quite put my finger on it.
