Good morning from two girls who love their lipgloss. 🙂 In this pic, Connor and I are wearing Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat, a sheer shiny red. We wanted to look our best for a lady date lunch in Sonoma with my friend (and Connor’s “auntie”), Marisol.
Side note: I can’t believe gloss ever fell out of fashion! Remember how everyone was wearing liquid matte lipsticks a few years ago? Anywho, I’ve been wearing it gloss a ton lately and remember how low maintenance it is.
We had a lovely outdoor meal at a place called Sunflower Caffe, and I ordered the avocado toast, which by the way, while delicious, happened to be the messiest avocado toast I’ve ever eaten.

I’m on an unofficial mission to find the best avocado toast within striking distance, and as of right meow, Creekside Bakery’s is still the one to beat.
After lunch we took a stroll around the square and found a mysterious note in a tree!

LOL! I wonder who did this ’cause it’s totally something I would do, too. After reading it, we sealed it up again and placed it back in the tree for someone else to find. Merry Christmas to the mysterious note writer, wherever you are!
Connor has a playdate at our house today, so I’m going to be on “yard duty” supervision around these parts. If you’re around and about, come by and say hi… I have a vanilla glazed scone waiting for you.

Talk to you soon!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

That note reminds me of one I found taped to a light pole on the Stanford campus in early November. It said, “If you see this note it means you should call your Mom (or someone else you love) and tell them how much you love them.
Of course, I spent the rest of the day texting and calling all my friends and relatives to tell them I loved them.
Chocolate chips, blueberries, raisins or currants in those scones? I’m driving right up, be there in about an hour and a half!
Dried apricots in one batch and lemon with currant in the other! I did a vanilla glaze on both because I was too lazy to do custom glazes. lol
Is Dear Daughter visiting?
Ooh! Those scones look soo yummy!! And vanilla glaze for both sounds perfect.
Yes, Dear Daughter is here. She came out this past Saturday and looking at the weather forecast for the midwest she keeps saying how glad she is that she flew out early and beat the snow storms.
She’s baking red bean bread today.
Does the Fenty gloss have a scent or taste? Is it super sticky or just moderately so? I keep looking at them, but haven’t bought one yet.
Hope you and your family have a happy and relaxing Christmas and a wonderful new year!
Mmmm, scones. We’re making brownies with Andes mint chips and chocolate chip cookies this long weekend. And hot chocolate, of course. Maybe I need to add scones to the menu. 🤔
The weather looks so nice there! Today isn’t too cold, just rainy, but this weekend will be barely above freezing. 😨🥶
Your brownies sound next level delicious! 😍
What else will you be making/baking for the holidays?
Karen…those scones look so yummy!! Merry Christmas!!
Thanks, Sherry! I’m all about the glaze, ya know?
Merry Christmas!
It sounds like you ladies had a great day. Connor is becoming quite the girlie-girl. So cute! As for gloss, I’m with you—why did it ever go out of fashion. My first gloss was given to me (and also to my mother) by a makeup artist friend who worked for a TV station up in SF. This was in the fifties. He said everyone simply had to dab a bit of gloss on their lips; no gooey ring, just a dab lightly tapped out. The gloss was by Max Factor and came in a small, shallow, white plastic pot. It was a beautiful translucent true red. It didn’t translate as red on the lips, but made the lips look luscious, moist, and just-bitten. How I loved that gloss! Since then, I’ve always favored a balm or gloss. My lips are too old for the super-shiny vinyl look, but a bit of gloss applied to the center of my lips and then lightly tapped out works wonders.
Your last picture reminded my I haven’t baked scones in awhile. I best get cracking!
Happy holidays, everyone!
I love that story, Eileen! Thank you for sharing it.
If you have a tried-and-true scone recipe, please pass it along! I’m collecting all the recipes. 🙂
In my world, lip glosses never fell out of style. You both look beautiful!
