How adventurous are you when it comes to changing your hair cut? Do you play it safe and stick to a style that already works for you, or are you more willing to try new things? Inquiring minds want to know.
I used to be more adventurous in my 20s and 30s, trying different cuts and lengths to varying degrees of success and disaster, LOL. The worst by far was a razor layered cut; I looked like I had a bad ’80s rocker mullet and wore my hair up for a good year while the layers grew out.
Now I pretty much stick to subtle variations of subtle long layers, so I can easily put it up or wear it down. Kinda boring, I know, but it works for me.
How about you?

P.S. Happy National Lipstick Day!

In this look, that’s Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Vice (all over lips) and MAC Lipstick in Heroine (center of lips).
P.P.S. TGIF!

Not at all! If I was better at doing my hair (or cared about doing my hair) it might be a different story!
I got a pixie the summer between 5th and 6th grades and legit looked like a boy until my breasts grew in halfway through 6th grade, so I haven’t been very adventurous with my hair since then! The length generally hits somewhere between my chin and the top of my breasts-I usually have some type of layering or a razored texture on the ends, but I’ve occasionally done either a blunt bob or a tapered bob that shortens from front to back.
And no matter the length or style, I always keep long, wispy bangs.
I had a similar experience. My mom was tired of having to fix my hair every morning (because I just HAD to have my hair done before we could leave the house 🤣), so she got it cut super short like hers. Everyone thought I was a boy. In 8th grade (when the awkwardness hits hard anyway), I went through the painful growing out process. I have curly hair, and I looked like a chia pet for a solid year. Due to the trauma, I’ve never gone above chin length since.
I really do like it long, though, so it’s almost always past my shoulders. I will do things like highlights, but the days of more radical changes (in my 20s) are gone. Once on a whim I went for huge chunky blonde highlights in my naturally espresso colored hair. I loved it at the time, but in retrospect, it looked about as good as it sounds. 😬
I’ve gone long. I’ve gone super short. I’ve gone every length in between. I’ve gone long in front and an undercut in the back. If losing large swaths of my hair over and over and over has taught me anything, hair grows back. Have fun while you have it. Color it, chop it, braid it, have fun! Hair ruts are meant for dead people!
For sure every time I did something drastic to my hair it seemed to coincide with what was going on in my life. Sometimes the changes worked but mostly I remember doing alot of “grow outs”. Lol. I’m older now and shaggy bobs are the most drastic I’ll go.
I am the least adventurous of all things when it comes to my hair: makeup, clothes, travel – I take all the risks there to at least try something, but my hair? Hasn’t changed since I turned 20.
