In other news, I got out of the cave/house for two whole hours yesterday, and it was glorious! My parents visited and offered to watch Connor, so El Hub and I sneaked away to the mall. We got coffee, See’s candy and window shopped like real grownup people! It was the most exciting thing I’ve done in a month.

Yay! So glad you got out of the house for a few hours! I have a crap ton of nail polish. I actually plan on going through it this weekend and reorganize it and get rid of polishes I haven’t used. I have probably about 200 bottles, give or take.
My all time favorite boy band is Duran Duran! Listening to them right now while I’m cleaning the house and I’m going to see them in July!! I’m so excited and CANNOT WAIT!!
If I like something I always try to buy it in every colour otherwise I’m kicking myself later! I have multiples of many of my clothes. The latest item I bought every colour of was moto sweatpants from The Gap. I bought every colour I could find except for black because I have a ginger cat and can no longer have anything black or navy. Lol!

Now what you need to do is get Connor Claire out of the house, too! That was the only thing that helped when my son went through that fussy, crying phase. I bundled him up in the sling and we went to the neighborhood Little League games. Fresh and and fresh faces to fuss over how cute he was worked wonders. I hope you find something that works for your little one as well 🙂
I have Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows in dozens of colors — some of the shades make great blushes or contour powders as well as eyeshadows! And several shades of MUFE’s Rouge Artist Natural lipstick — and several shades of Urban Decay Revolution lipstick, Tom Ford Lips & Boys, and Colour Pop Ultra Satin lip colors, too. When I find a formula I love, it seems like I want it in all the pretty colors!
I have to have lipsticks in every color possible. I am a lipstick hoarder.
I’m also becoming obsessed with shimmery highlighters. I picked up one of the new UD ones yesterday and I’m in love. I might have to get the whole collection…

I just discovered this blog. It’s so cute. I am really enjoying it.
– I have a lot of gold eyeshadows, in different shades and finishes. I went through a serious phase of them when I first started out with makeup. Even though I threw out/gave away a good portion, I still have a lot left.
– I like to mix lip products together, especially to make ones that don’t work for me work. I got my best friend onto it too 🙂
I have tons and tons of nail polishes. Many of them really close dupes for each other. I’m going through them now and keeping the best red, the best coral, the best taupe, etc. A lot of my decision of which ones to keep has to do with how long the formula lasts on my nails before chipping. It means I’m keeping a lot of indie polishes and my Tom Fords.
Glad you were able to get out of the house. I agree with Fran, now you need to work on taking Connor Claire out. Even if it’s only for a 15 minute walk, now that the weather is getting better here in NorCal, it would be great for Connor to get some fresh air. I couldn’t carry my BG in a sling because my back seriously hurt because of my weakened abs from the C-section, so I’d put her in the stroller (ours could be made to lay flat) and take her out for a walk. Sometimes she’d squall for the whole 15 to 20 minutes we were outside but it did seem to make her quieter later in the day. I’d also put her in the car seat and drive. We were living in The Netherlands at the time and I remember once I drove all the way to Germany. Stopped for gas in Germany, turned around and drove home. She stayed asleep even after I took the car seat out of the car. Another thing that helped was one of the bouncy rockers or we had a baby swing for her. Not sure if those are considered safe or even sold here in the U.S.
A piece of popular beauty advice you don’t agree with? Totally over the contour craze. I just don’t think it’s practical & necessary for every day wear. I lightly use bronzer to contour & sculpt but the Instagram craze is way over the top 🙂
Omg, yes for taking a break from the baby! They can be a handful so it’s nice that you got some time off to spend time with the hubby.
I actually love mixing Camelia oil and Rose hip oil for a whole lot of benefit for the skin (In which both must be pure). And you can always mix this with your foundation to get a dewy finish too.
I have a zillion nail polishes, in a range of 3-4 colours (mostly variations of red, and rather a lot of glitter).
I also love different colours of eyeliner…though I don’t have a zillion. Yet.
I have lots of sephora nano eyeliners!

I love Urban Decay eyeshadow, but I’m tired of all the glitter. It looks bad when it migrates onto my 40-year-old face. What company produces the same quality shadows in great colors, just without all the glitter?
I mix anything and everything with my moisturizer because I’m too lazy to apply in layers.

People always recommend applying a light sparkly shade on the inner corner of the eye to open up the eye area. On me, it just looks like I poked myself in the eye with glitter pen. It does nothing for me.
I think some cooler-toned lipsticks look cool on warmer-toned ladies!

Amazonian clay : yes! I used to have very oily skin before and now I noticed my skin changing to combination in the more recent months (due to getting older?). Clay works great as a 2-in-1 formula. I can treat both the oily and drier areas of my face with only 1 product saving money and time. And it probably does a better job than if I were to use 2 different products together !
Most recently, I’ve picked up a TON of the new Burt’s Bees lipsticks. I did not expect to really like these, but I DO! (And just for good measure, my favorite boy band was always NSYNC.)

Im from Honduras and I ADORE MAKEUP, Im a Makeup Addict, I have a lot A LOT of Colourpop Matte Lipsticks, They are the best! Very reasonable prices and so beautiful, I also have almost all shades of L.A Girl concelears.
what I dont like is the contour every day, I dont think that you can do that every single day, All I do is put on my L.A girl Concelears and My 2 in 1 Powder from Clinique, Mascara, Eyeliner, blush and Im done in 5 minutes.
I always use neutral eyeshadows THEY GO WITH EVERYTHING!! ☺

I am obsessed with the hourglass ambient lighting powders and blushes. Mood exposure and luminous flush are my favorite of the blushes. I love mixing the powders up.

Strangely lately I have been loving the Hourglass immaculate foundation as a base for the Tarte Amazonian clay foundation. Together that last and hold like a dream!

My oily skin thanks me for discovering Hourglass Veil mineral primer. This in combination with Estée Lauder Double Wear (lightly applied with Beauty Blender) makes my skin look the best it ever has and stay that way all day!

Such good questions! If with the first question you mean specific product by a specific brand, I have a most of the Nars Audacious lipstick line (still my favorite lip products ever!), many MAC lipsticks, many Ofra liquid lipsticks, some other brands I have several but less than 10. I have a shameful number of OPI, Julep, and China Glaze nail polishes as well! I have most of the Clinique color pop blushes also, love those.
I really like to mix foundations together. My favorite mix, that I use most often, is Marc Jacobs Remarcable with a couple drops of Too Faced Born This Way and a smidge of Givenchy Teint Couture Balm.
I definitely don’t agree with the advise that “older” women shouldn’t wear vibrant colors of makeup. We deserve to have fun too! Besides that, I get way more compliments when I wear blue and green eyeshadows and dark or vibrant lip colors than when I wear nudes!
Yes on Amazonian Clay! My favorite product is the Full Coverage Foundation, my second go-to after my Holy Grail Marc Jacobs Remarcable.

I did full makeup for the first time the other day. It felt really nice to get all dolled up again. It was also my first attempt at doing a cut crease and it wasn’t a total disaster haha!

What do I have that I have in multiple colors? I guess an eye shadow palette by stila and some Clinique chubby sticks, but I have to say… That stila palette isn’t very pigmented so I’m switching. I honestly can’t decide between the chocolate bar palette by too faced or the naked smokey palette. Any ideas anyone? With the Sephora sale coming up, I just might get a new palette! Thoughts?

I have a fair few Rouge Coco lipsticks. I love the formula!
I just got done keeping our 8-week old granddaughter for four hours – I got nothing thing done but taking care of her!
The amount of lipsticks i have in different shades of nude (cuhs like no they’re not all the same) is insane.
Also, idk if it’s considered mixing but man spraying fix plus on concealer that hasn’t been blended yet then blending with a beauty blender is the best thing i ever discovered.

Target and Old Navy have sales where it’s like $7 for a shirt and they carry every color in the rainbow. It’s hard not to go crazy and get them all!

I own more eyeshadows than anything else. I have a love/hate relationship with new releases. I ask myself, how many brown eyeshadows do I need? All of them…I really need to just stop! Bon Jovi would be my favorite band, although I’m not sure if they are considered a “Boy Band ” by today’s standard. They are all boys and a band, so to me it counts. Something I learned recently that was always a no-no to a lot of people was that you shouldn’t use black on your eyebrows, but that’s worked out for me the best.

Sounds like your little one might be hitting a growth spurt. I own a TON of nail polish by various mainstream/indie makers – hate to count, but probably >500. The most I own from one maker is 107. Otherwise, I own a fair number or Urban Decay eyeliners.

Those Tarte duo lippies are incredible! Amazonia clay is a yes:). A tip I learned with my 3 sons, put them in their car seat or bouncy seat, put in top of the dryer and turn it on. For some reason it soothes them and they sleep well at night! (Of course not all night on the dryer but it gets them there lol)
Cardigans and dresses. I have a LOT of cardigans and dresses. I don’t own any pants that aren’t jeans or leggings for working out or wearing around the house.

I am not what I would consider an older woman (mid 40’s), but I disagree with the advice that women should not wear anything other than matte eyeshadow once they become “mature” in age.

Yes to the Amazonion Clay foundation and blushes but no to the white face powder. It didn’t do anything for me. And I have a ton of Tarte’s lipsurgence lipsticks..too many to count ;).
I was able to get out of the house with friends twice this week. So. Fun. I feel like I’m ready to work on my final and mom again.
I’ve had a nice weekend. Just got home from dinner and relaxing in front of the tv with a coffee. Mmmmm.

I’m glad you two got some time to yourselves! I always mix foundations, for the last 6 months or so it’s been It Cosmetics CC with a little bit of L’Oreal Pro Matte, to lift the color slightly and help it set better on my skin. 🙂

I’m completely undecided when it comes to BB cream. I love it for a few days, then I’m so over it. And this cycle repeats itself every 2 weeks or so. It looks great but feels tacky which I can’t stand.
Accessories I basically have in all colors. I thought of eye shadows, lipsticks, nail polish and clothes but all those categories lack some hues because not all colors work with my complexion. Alas, accessories I have in almost every color because wearing a color that is not the best for me, really works as an accessorie.

I’m not a fan of contouring and highlighting, but it seems to be all the rage. For everyday it seems over the top and fake, but it’s being presented to consumers as the thing to do every day. I wish/hope that trend will end sooner rather than later.
I don’t agree with the contouring craze. I can’t pass up a cute nail polish despite being too lazy to paint my nail most of the time.

i don’t agree with not curling your lashes after applying mascara! if you do it carefully between the first and second coat, you won’t break them off, and they’ll hold a curl better than they would if you did it before applying anything. sort of like when you apply a styling product before curling your hair for extra hold. 🙂

I have an array of colors of lip glosses. Lip Gloss is my go-to make-up item that comes in so many colors – love them.
What are those lip products in that picture? Have I accidentally missed a post and are now falling behind in the lip junkie world?
I have tons of eyeliner, it may actually be literal tons. I normally use my pencil as a guideline for my liquid eyeliner. Some might think it’s a waste, but I think it gives it a nice tint when I do it.
I don’t agree on the baby powder to make lashes look thicker. It just looks clumpy to me
I have used Amazonian Clay before and it does work, but it is messy and so hard to use! i use it with organic apple cider vinegar and make a paste in a non metal dish and mix it and apply to my face with a big makeup brush. let it sit and dry for 20 min or so and remove with a warm washcloth and then moisturizze well!

I like to mix Weleda’s Skin Food into other lotions/hand creams. I know lots of people use it as hand cream on its own, but its just too greasy for me. A dab mixed into another cream or lotion is perfection though!

Here’s something I am into lately: blending bronzers with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish to make a “glowy” bronzer. For example, yesterday I blended MAC Sunny By Nature (a medium matte brown) with MAC Cheeky Bronze MSF. Gorge!–didn’t even need blush or finishing powder after that. am now pulling out some older (mostly unused) MSFs and trying them out in conjunction with neutral blushes and matte bronzing powders.
My girls ask me to thumb wrestle all the time, and they always tag team me!
I think the product I have the most shades in is the colourpop ultra matte lip!
I’m glad you were able to get out and have fun like a regular grown up. I miss being able to go to the mall whenever I want, especially to Sephora, b/c I don’t have a car right now, hopefully soon. It can be a stress buster to look around and try the samples and fall in love with a new product.

I’d like to talk about what irritates me about Lipstick and why I’m always searching. It doesn’t seem to matter what color (lighter) I put on my lips but it pulls pink ALWAYS. I have NO pigment in my lips. It makes no darn sense to me! Anyone else have this issue?

I like to mix my vitamin c serum with my daily moisturizer. It goes on more smoothly and feels really nice on my face and neck.

I really like to combine my moisturizer and foundation. I find most foundations too thick or too drying for daily wear. My latest favorite foundation is Bare Minerals complexion rescue tinted gel hybrid- it feels like a perfectly combined moisturizer and foundation!
I give all the nail polishes I win to my daughter and sister who both have quite a collection. I am a potter so nail polish is wasted on my hands.

I’ve stopped using cleansers on my face, and now I just use warm water. I totally bought into the fancy cleansers, trying to find the right one for my skin type, but my skin has never looked better since I stopped using products and let my natural skin’s oils do their thing!

The only Amazonian clay products I’ve tried are a couple of Tarte blushes and I didn’t notice any difference between them and other brands blushes.
I’m not sold on the Amazonian Clay products, but I do love my Tartelette Palette!
Oh, man, I used to thumb wrestle people every chance I got. I was a champion. …then people refused to play with me because my nails were like knives. And I know it’s a cheap answer, but I have SO MUCH EYESHADOW. So much. All the colors. Duochromes, metallics, glitters; any color you can name, I probably have some version of. I just can’t stop.

There’s so many videos on these big instagram accounts of women color correcting with the wrong shades! People are seeing these posts and using them as a guide 🙁 Why are light complexed women using oranges and reds for their undereyes? Why a LIME green for redness? I could go on for dayzz..

There are a lot of “natural” beauty treatments which various gurus are all about, one being lemon. Tried some for mild dark spots on my skin and burned the skin so badly had to get medical treatment and treat with salve for months! Found Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector and it’s finally repairing the damage. After a scolding from my Derm. I now ONLY use products I can buy, not stuff I can whip up unsupervised in my kitchen. Our skin is our largest organ, take advice from medical professionals, not people who have tried stuff and given their reviews, all our skin is different, just like we are! Luckily, I learned my lesson without major damage. Have a great week everyone!

As a person with hooded eyelids, I really disagree with the conventional wisdom that hooded eyes shouldn’t use shimmery/glittery shades. As long as I put a matte color in my ‘crease’ (aka above my actual crease) I find that I can use whatever shades I want on the lid itself!

My all time favorite boy band is NKOTB, they were my first concert ever and I still love them today.
Sounds like a great break! Bath, bottle, bed (by 7 PM) always worked for us when the boys were babies. Not everyone is a fan but we kept to a very strict routine and couldn’t have gotten through without it. 🙂 They needed a lot of sleep and never slept in, no matter what time they went to bed, so they had a 7 PM bedtime through most of elementary school as well. Of course, all kids are different!

Case in point: lipsticks that are too light, mixed with a black (yes black!) lipgloss. Also, sunscreen and foundation to get a tinted one since most pretinted sunscreens are waaaay to light for me (or most pretinted anything really!) Ive also enjoyed mixing clear nail polishes and eyeshadows to make custom nail colors–great for those shadows that just don’t work for me!

Hmm, beauty advice I don’t agree with… The bigger the brow, the better. It depends on features and face — I’ve seen faces swamped by brows that take up 1/3 of face real estate. A truism for life and beauty is FIGURE OUT WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU.

I have lots of different colors of eyeliner. I mostly wear neutral eyeshadow so I use the liners for some pops of color.
I do like to mix my own foundation color to get the perfect match for my skin color.
I would love to learn to put on eyeliner to help these sagging eyes. When I put in the effort, I am pretty happy with the results. I think the right products might help. Yay, the sun is out and the snow has all melted.

I have tons of colors of Sally Hansen quick dry nail polish. I love how easily it goes on and it doesn’t easily chip. My daughter has a hard time sitting still for long, so they are perfect for doing her nails because they dry so quick! I’m always picking up new colors 🙂

How about products (plural) in a bunch of colours???? Lipsticks, eyeshadows (singles and palettes), blushes, eyeliners. Favourite boy band : NKOTB (Joey McIntyre…holla!). Amazonian Clay? Yasssssss!!! TARTE Amazonian clay 12 hour blush – in Dazzled.
Favorite boy band? It’s a toss up between Backstreet Boys and NSYNC!

My favorite boy band had to be 98 degrees! And Boyz II Men was a very close second but since they have been back around a little bit I think they might be taking over the top spot once again! I love seeing Wanye on Dancing with the Stars!
Not one specific brand but I have a lot of lipsticks in many different shades (I’m over 60 now!) I love organizing them in lipstick holders and playing with different shades and finishes!
Fave boy band? Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, Westlife! And one Korean band called INFINITE *which is surprising because I actually despise K-pop as I am more into K-ballads and those underrated artists;;* I’m thanking God for Adele and the likes because pop music has gone downhill. Too many fame-thirst kids trying to gain popularity ASAP so they just do whatever that is ‘in’…resulting in mediocre singing, meaningless lyrics, homogenous melodies with scary amount of auto-tunes, unoriginal dance moves, even similar looks. I miss times when music is about music. 🙁 -end of rant from a butthurt listener*

I am on a never-ending search for the perfect, YLBB pink…..therefore, I have soooo many peachy-pink lipsticks & glosses! And it just so happens that about 15 of them are floating around in my purse :-/ Hey, you just never know!

I looove blushes and cannot get enough of them! They are easy and quick to apply in the morning, and add a nice pop of colour to brighten up the face 🙂
