I think that technically this striped number by Marine Layer is called a full-length dress rather than a muumuu, hmm. It’s a long dress with bright colors and a pattern, though, so I think it’s close enough. 🙂
I bought it recently at Nordstrom Rack and have absolutely no regrets!
Not only is it cute, it’s made out of 100% cotton, so on really hot days, it feels airy and light against my skin. Super comfy.
I usually wear a size 6, so I followed the size recommendations and ordered a medium, but I think I could’ve sized down with the small too. I don’t mind the slightly larger fit, though. I like that it’s roomy and how it looks like a maxi dress on me. Side note, I’m 5 foot one, by the way.
For summer outings, I think this dress is perfect. You could probably wear it to work too, but I would pair it with a jacket or a sweater because I feel like the neckline does go a little bit low and I like to be covered up.

As for the material, the cotton is soft, but not stiff, and it doesn’t feel crispy against my skin. Oh, and bonus, it’s purposefully crinkly so you don’t have to iron it. You can just wash and wear it. Easy peasy.
Unfortunately, now the dress is sold out on the Nordstrom Rack website, but it’s still available on the Marine Layer website and it’s on sale! And if colorful, rainbow stripes aren’t your thing, they also have it in other striped combinations and solids too. Highly recommended, especially if you live someplace that gets hot during the summer, and you’re looking for is chic, easy-to-wear dress that keeps you cool!
Although I love this dress, I don’t think it’s half as cool as the ’80s themed outfit Connor wore to her school’s closing assembly yesterday.

The theme was new wave music, and so the kids sang a bunch of songs from that musical era. Honestly, I don’t think that half the parents got the references because they’re younger than I am, but whatevs. I rocked out to Tears for Fears and Billy Idol and have no regrets!

That rainbow dress is adorable and looks so comfy. But really it’s all about Connor’s ’80s look here-perfection. I had neon pink tube socks but I would usually wear one neon pink and one neon green. Then I wore a neon green tee under a neon pink tee so I could roll the sleeves and show a little bit of the green. I had some floral bike shorts to go with it and this was my favorite outfit circa 1989.
Thanks for the supergoop tinted sunscreen recommendation btw. I’m loving it!
Love Connor’s 80’s glam. She looks adorable.
It’s cute. I went to the website and it says size 6 would wear a small. Love the dip dye colors. Thanks for the recommendation. Think you could wear a small easily 🙂
That “lay flat to dry” instructions on it kind of bothers me. Also, the sale price is still kinda high at $75.00. Glad I bought some cotton dresses during the pandemic at better prices – and they can go in the dryer. This one is really cute, but I think even the largest size won’t fit me (a review says it has small arm holes). I just wonder why it has to be laid flat to dry.
