So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start. ?
1. Brush or Beauty Blender?
Hmm… Beauty Blenders are quite handy…but I’ll take the brush because I could do more with it.
2. Apples or oranges?
I like them both a lot, but I’ll go with apples BECAUSE APPLE PASTRY. And apple turnovers. And apple fritters! Plus, there are so many varieties of apples. (I’m a honeycrisp girl, myself.) This week at our house we’re enjoying the Granny Smith.
3. An old-school makeup product you’ve used for-ev-er?
MAC Powersurge eyeliner. Been using it for well over a decade!
4. A fancy beauty product you love?
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is magic (albeit expensive magic, hahaha).
5. River, lake or ocean?
Frankly, any of the above. I wouldn’t mind a tranquil, warm lake right now, but I’m a beach baby at heart.
6. Do you wear makeup to the pool or beach?
There was a time when I would’ve answered this with an enthusiastic “YASSS,” but it’s a no now. My current idea of lookin’ fly when I’m in a body of water is wearing sunscreen.
7. Something on your to-do list today?
I promised to take Connor to the pool because we’ve been having Hawaii-Florida heat and humidity for the past week or so, but we’ve been having crazy intense lightning storms since Friday afternoon, which I can only remember happening once or twice since forever. I’m serious, the flashes will happen every couple seconds in bunches. And that’s supposed to last until noon-ish, supposedly, so pool time will be replaced by something else… Maybe we’ll find some puddles to splash in.
8. Do you trim your nose hairs?
Oh, totally. But it’s been a relatively recent development. I think I started two or three years ago? The way I found out that I had to do it was kinda funny though… I was brushing my teeth in front of the mirror and oh-so-excitedly observed that when I smiled, some nose hairs in my left nostril would poke out!
I use small safety scissors with rounded tips to trim those bits whenever they get too long.

Not since I was a teenager, lol.

Raw apples give me oral allergy symptoms 🙁 so oranges.

I’m not sure I really have one! Skincare-wise, Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water.

Chanel Stylo Waterproof
5. River, lake or ocean?
I’m from Michigan, so no ocean ? my favorite place to swim up north where I grew up is at a dam on a river.
6. Do you wear makeup to the pool or beach?
I rarely go to either of these places, but I’d probably wear brows and mascara.

French homework for my Zoom French class!

Happy Monday! I read about your cray thunderstorms; the article said thunder isn’t heard very often in the Bay area, which I didn’t know. It’s common here so I never realized there were parts of the country where it wasn’t. But thankfully you’re not near the Fire Tornado. I had to google that because my geography is poor and was happy to see that Lassen County is far from you. Still, very scary for Northern California/Nevada. 🙁 Stay safe!!
1. Brush or Beauty Blender? I love blenders; they’re like stress balls. HAHA! But, I agree with you about brushes being more versatile so I’ll also choose Brush.
2. Apples or oranges? I’m a honeycrisp gal as well. I’m very fussy about my oranges – they have to be very sweet and not mealy. It’s very hit or miss here so I’m going to go with the more reliable apple!
3. An old-school makeup product you’ve used for-ev-er? YSL Faux Cils, of course.
4. A fancy beauty product you love? Chanel Malice!
5. River, lake or ocean? Ocean. I’m a fan of the big waves (for boogie boarding and just the relaxing sound). Though I do love the lake for things like boating/tubing/waterskiing.
6. Do you wear makeup to the pool or beach? Sometimes waterproof mascara but usually just sunscreen.
7. Something on your to-do list today? Stop procrastinating. I have several projects to work on and I’m just not feeling any of them. It’s one of those Mondays where everything feels like a slog. Must.Push.Through. 🙂
8. Do you trim your nose hairs? Yes, same! All seems well until I smile or scrunch my face. I do prefer a point tip Mustache Scissor, though. It’s more precise for me.

Lake! No contest. I grew up on Lake Michigan. Beautiful, fresh water stretching across the horizon, heavenly warm in August, salt free swimming, gobs of private sandy beaches. #nosharks

Finish work early and enjoy dinner with my teenager.

You bet. I use an electric nose hair trimmer made especially for that purpose.
You rinse it out and let it dry. Last time I picked it up, it was damp. My husband had just used it! We laughed uncontrollably for a full ten minutes about how gross that is. I am now getting my own ?

1. I used to love the beauty blender but as I got older, I love using brushes.

1. Brush or Beauty Blender? I have a BK Contoured Foundation Brush that I absolutely adore. It’s’ very versatile.
2. Apples or oranges? I laughed when I read your answer, Karen, because apple sweets are amongst my all-time favorites—apple crisp, apple cake, apple fritters, chunky apple sauce—I love apples! But, we have a couple beautiful orange trees and it’s hard to beat fresh squeezed orange juice over crushed ice on a hot summer day.
