So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).

I love them all, but today I’ll go for pink roses.
2. What’s the most challenging thing about eyeliner for you?
There are so many things, OMG. By far the most challenging, though, is getting the lines to look even. My right eye is slightly bigger and more hooded than my left, so I have to adjust how high up I take the liner and how far out. If I don’t account for the difference, my eyes appear asymmetrical.
3. Besides a good color match, what do you look for in a concealer?
I’m so picky about concealer, especially in the under-eye area. My number one thing is that it cannot settle into my fine lines. NOPE! No thanks.
4. Cake today?
Cake every day!
5. Boots or sneakers?
Sneakers, 100%. I never know when I need to chase after a child, and sneakers are much more conducive to impromptu sprints.
6. Have you ever had to break up a cat fight?
Thankfully, no. We’re a one cat family.
7. What’s worse: pants that are too tight or an ill-fitting bra?
Both are awful and remind me of many bad dates in the ’90s. Too tight pants would be worse, though. At least you can take off your bra, you know? I mean, you could take off your pants, but then it would be a totally different party…
8. What’s your hairstyle for the day?
Half up, half down with a high pony tied with a scarf.
9. Something you’re looking forward to this week?
I just ran out of my favorite Ilia eyeliner, so I need to make a Sephora stop this week. Fun!

2. What’s the most challenging thing about eyeliner for you? I usually go smoky because I can never get my lines “perfect”
3. Besides a good color match, what do you look for in a concealer? It cannot be matte…my face does not love matte anymore
4. Cake today? Never a bad day for cake…although sugar is the one thing I would love to eliminate from my diet (if I can ever get the willpower)
5. Boots or sneakers? Sneakers (Adidas ultraboost)
6. Have you ever had to break up a cat fight? Not a cat fight…but I have stopped the dogs
7. What’s worse: pants that are too tight or an ill-fitting bra? Pants…I’m officially too old to be uncomfortable in my pants🤣. When I was in my twenties, I would squeeze into a pair just to look cute. NEVER again.

9. Something you’re looking forward to this week? I ordered MAC Teddy eyeliner (because of you:). I always wear black, but I love your looks using this eyeliner

I hope you LOVE Teddy. It was a game-changer for me, and now I always have a stick around. You know what I miss? MAC Blooz liner. It was the BEST blue. Sigh. Anywho, please let me know what you think of it!
1. Tulips, roses or daisies? Roses, preferably lavender, which I had in my wedding bouquet but pink or peach or white would also do.
2. What’s the most challenging thing about eyeliner for you? Eyeliner
3. Besides a good color match, what do you look for in a concealer? Creaminess and staying power. Also, I don’t like it to settle in my fine lines but there are so many fine lines now that it’s nearly impossible.
4. Cake today? Nah.
5. Boots or sneakers? Depends on the weather but usually sneakers. However, if I want to kick ass and take names, I put on my Marc Fisher Chelsea boots! They look fierce!
6. Have you ever had to break up a cat fight? No but I have been dealing with more than my share of cat drama but too long of a story to get into here.
7. What’s worse: pants that are too tight or an ill-fitting bra? pants.

9. Something you’re looking forward to this week? I have an appointment with our tax man on Friday morning. Looking forward to having that behind me. Getting donuts first from my favorite bakery to ease the pain.

2. What’s the most challenging thing about eyeliner for you? I’ve worn eyeliner for going on 65 years. If I haven’t gotten the hang of it by now, I never will 😁

4. Cake today? Yes, please. Any day is cake day.
5. Boots or sneakers? Boots. I have dress boots, casual boots, riding boots, boot boots—you get the picture. I like to wear boots.

7. What’s worse: pants that are too tight or an ill-fitting bra? Pants that are too tight can chafe and lead to a UT infection.
8. What’s your hairstyle for the day? It’s pulled back in a loose pony.
9. Something you’re looking forward to this week? I’m having lunch by the lake with a dear friend who has been seriously ill. This will be her first real outing since leaving the hospital.

Trying to make the “bad side” match the “good side”!

It has to hide my not-quite-fine lines, not accentuate them.

Boots.

Nothing more than a minor spat. In that case, squirt bottle to the rescue.

Too-tight pants, because breathing is fun.

Freshly washed and blow-dried with a round brush.
9. Something you’re looking forward to this week?
Watching the rest of the Olympics. I especially enjoy the figure skating, ice dancing and luge competitions. Oh, and I live for Johnny Weir’s occasional pithy comment. And his outfits.

3. Besides a good color match, what do you look for in a concealer? The right consistency – not too dry, but if it’s too oily it’s shiny. Then I add powder to tone it down and it ends up being matte! Argh – that is my biggest makeup challenge
4. Cake today? Put me down for pie, please 🙂
5. Boots or sneakers? Sneakers although most boots are super comfortable
6. Have you ever had to break up a cat fight? Oh my yes. I used to have a cat that never weighed over 7#, then I introduced another cat that grew to be 17#. Cat #1 hated cat #2 and would start fights all the time! Tiny cat sent big cat to the hospital on more than 1 occasion. She bit a hole through big kitty’s paw one time and a nasty bite in her side another time. She was tiny but she was a little hellraiser! lol It was such a dramatic time!
7. What’s worse: pants that are too tight or an ill-fitting bra? Pants – I can always lose the bra.
8. What’s your hairstyle for the day? Soft curls leftover from Saturday night – can’t believe they are still holding on!
9. Something you’re looking forward to this week? Sunshine and temps in the 60’s. Also going to a Mardi Gras/Superbowl party Sunday although we won’t stay for the whole thing but it’ll be nice seeing friends.

2. What’s the most challenging thing about eyeliner for you? Everything! Liquid eyeliner is my nemesis. I don’t have a lot of lid space, so I just don’t ever use it. I like a tight line though.
3. Besides a good color match, what do you look for in a concealer? I don’t use concealer. No matter what, it looks cakey and I can’t do that.
4. Cake today? Nah, it’s really my least favorite treat.
5. Boots or sneakers? Sneakers.
6. Have you ever had to break up a cat fight? Yes! I have a lot of cats! My Kryptonite is unhomed animals, I will take in any stray, or litter of kittens. My 8, yes eight cats, are inside/outside cats, and they are very protective of their homestead. Any neighborhood cats that get too close, they let me know.
7. What’s worse: pants that are too tight or an ill-fitting bra? Too tight pants!
8. What’s your hairstyle for the day? I’ve been wearing my hair down lately, big and wild and down. And I love it!
9. Something you’re looking forward to this week? My 16 year old daughter has been busting her rear in school, she’s getting straight A’s, she’s a spokesperson for her culinary class, so today we decided that we’d let her play hookey from school and do some shopping. It’s not something I’d normally do, which makes it more special.

2. What’s the most challenging thing about eyeliner for you? Just putting it on so that it doesn’t look like a hot mess.
3. Besides a good color match, what do you look for in a concealer? I prefer a corrector versus a concealer to camouflage the dark shadows in the inner corner of my eyes.
4. Cake today? How I wish!
5. Boots or sneakers? Boots now, sneakers later for my walk.
6. Have you ever had to break up a cat fight? no.
7. What’s worse: pants that are too tight or an ill-fitting bra? Both are pretty bad.
8. What’s your hairstyle for the day? Just washed and I need a haircut today.
9. Something you’re looking forward to this week? No snow and a bit warmer temperatures.

6. Have you ever had to break up a cat fight? I have 5 – it’s a daily occurrence around these parts but usually I just yell at them or toss a pillow in their direction and it ends pretty quick. Mine are all hiss and no bite

8. What’s your hairstyle for the day? Same everyday – pixie cut
