So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).

2. If you were in a horror film and went down into a dark basement with just a flashlight, would you survive?
Hell yeah, I would make it out of that basement! Granted, I’d be covered in blood (someone else’s, not mine) and would hold onto the trauma for waaaaay too long, but I’d make it out.
3. Removing the stringy guts from a pumpkin: fun or totally disgusting?
A little bit of both. Mostly fun!
4. Fruit-flavored candy or chocolate Halloween candy?
Unless it’s Albanese peach rings or gummy bears, I don’t want anything to do with fruit-flavored Halloween candy. Chocolate all the way! Fun-size Snickers, ideally.
5. Have you ever smashed (or stolen) someone else’s jack-o-lantern?
Nah, I was a square when I was a kid. If I did something like that, I’d be really remorseful and stressed out about the whole situation.
6. What’s something that’s surprised you about Halloween?
Honestly, how tipsy most of the parents are when you take a kid trick or treating, LOL! I don’t really drink because I’m terrible at handling my liquor (total lightweight); plus, and I know this is gonna sound crazy, but if I’m suddenly in a life-or-death situation amongst a big crowd of strangers, I’m gonna have ALL my facilities working at 100 percent.
7. Would you rather wear a sexy clown or a scary clown costume?
I think the scary clown costume would 1) be a lot more comfortable, and 2) warmer, so let’s go with that.
8. Roasted pumpkin seeds: yes or no?
No. I don’t dislike them, but I also don’t understand the hype.

Picture a girl in a spooky house. From the kitchen, the sound of banjo music. Girl: “Jeb – is that you?” as she enters the kitchen. (I lived in the south for 18 years when I was younger.)

2. If you were in a horror film and went down into a dark basement with just a flashlight, would you survive? I’d like to think so. In college I split a guy’s head open, swinging a three D-cell Mag lite flashlight at him. That’s what he gets for jumping out from behind a bush at me.

1. Monster Mash or Ghostbusters? Monster Mash! It takes me back to the early 1960’s to a junior high school Halloween dance. We did the mash. It was a real dance.
2. If you were in a horror film and went down into a dark basement with just a flashlight, would you survive? Yep! I’d fight whatever was down there tooth and nail and then I’d (victoriously!) claw my way back up the stairs—bloodied perhaps, but not beaten. No wimps in my family! Lol

6. What’s something that’s surprised you about Halloween? In our area, most of the adults who accompany their kids are also in costume. At my house, anyone who is in a costume gets some treats.
7. Would you rather wear a sexy clown or a scary clown costume? Sexy clown?!? Is there such a thing? I’ve always thought clowns were a bit creepy and scary.
8. Roasted pumpkin seeds: yes or no? I think they’re over-hyped, but roasting them at home is a fun thing to do with little kids—once! Lol

1. Monster Mash or Ghostbusters? I really love both so much, but The Mash, because in 8th grade, me and some friends did a lip sync dance to it in our school’s talent show, won first place! (Also, it’s “Graveyard Smash).
2. If you were in a horror film and went down into a dark basement with just a flashlight, would you survive? Nope. Not even for a full minute. I’d be the first one eaten/stabbed/trapped. I’m okay with this.

6. What’s something that’s surprised you about Halloween? I recently moved to Michigan and I was surprised that not a lot of people decorated their houses, but I live in the popular neighborhood for trick or treating and we had a ton of kids come around.

Yes, but I would be traumatized for life. I feel sick even thinking about it.

Never. I was a good kid and I would be really mad at my children if they did something like that.
6. What’s something that’s surprised you about Halloween?
How big of a deal it has become in the last five years in Germany. We never had it and all of a sudden it is the busiest night of the year on the streets!
7. Would you rather wear a sexy clown or a scary clown costume?
Scary. Nothing about a clown is sexy to me. Although I dressed up as Harley Quinn this year, which (I know is a stretch) would probably belong to sexy clown.

I dont mind them, but I don’t get the hype either.
