So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. One piece of makeup that instantly makes you feel good when you wear it?
There are so many makeup things that instantly pick me up, but currently mascara is doing a lot heavy lifting for me. Just the simple act of curling my lashes and coating them with a layer or two puts a big spring in my step!
2. What’s more fun: a day hiking or a spa day?
Both are loads of fun for me, but right meow, I’ll take the a spa day because my allergies are cray.
3. Cardigan or blazer?
I’ll take the cardigan if it’s slightly oversized and soft!
4. Who’s the best cook in your family?
Hmm, well, my immediate family isn’t known for their culinary prowess, LOL! Before she passed, my godmother was the best cook. I still dream about her peanut butter oxtail soup! Now the best cook is probably my brother.
5. What is your favorite/least favorite makeup brand?
It changes all the time, but my favorite brand at the moment is Chanel, with Laura Mercier a close second. Least favorite, hmmm… I generally can find at least one thing I like from every brand, but I’m having a hard time figuring this answer out. Maybe any of the brands that make lipsticks shaped like a dude’s private parts? There was one line that recently did this, and my first thought was, “Who asked for this?”
6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor?
My favorite is ice pistachio almond from Baskin Robbins. Least favorite is any type of orange sherbet.
7. Who takes care of your nails?
I do my own nails because I’m crazy picky about how they’re painted. If I was a celeb, though, I’d hire a high-profile manicurist in a heartbeat!
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes?
Ya know, I don’t mind smelling trendy scents on other people, but I probably wouldn’t go out and actively seek what’s popular at the moment for myself.

3. Cardigan or blazer? Cardigan, as long as it’s a casual occasion.
4. Who’s the best cook in your family? Hmm, it’s a toss up between me and my daughter. We each have our strong points. She makes the best red bean bread and buns. We can both look in a fridge and pantry and pull a meal together. I probably have better knife skills and technique.
5. What is your favorite/least favorite makeup brand? Favorite, SUQQU, Shiseido, Shu Uemura. Least favorite? So many. But I agree with you about the Isamaya lipstick. Why?
6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor? This is a trick question right? All the ice cream is my favorite flavor. Although I don’t really like raw cookie dough chunks in my ice cream.
7. Who takes care of your nails? I sorta do. The last time I had a mani (about 15 years ago) the tech went to town on my cuticles and they bled and were sore for weeks. That scared me off for good.
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes? Don’t really like them. I have a lot of vintage in my perfume closet.

Well it’s actually just two shelves inside my closet. But it’s easier to say perfume closet. Lol.
In my imagination it’s still a beautiful cedar heirloom armoire filled with vintage scents from days of yore! 🙂

1.One piece of makeup that instantly makes you feel good when you wear it? I would say my Chanel Rouge Coco Flash in Jour.
2. What’s more fun: a day hiking or a spa day? A spa day is fun and comforting. A day hiking is invigorating depending on where you go. The gorges in Ithaca are magnificent.
3. Cardigan or blazer? I love an oversized cardigan for comfort, but you can’t beat a well made blazer for a classic look. I guess I’m not doing well with making a choice
4. Who’s the best cook in your family? My husband is good at grilling stuff.
5. What is your favorite/least favorite makeup brand? My favorite makeup brand is Chanel, my least favorite is Tom Ford (way over-priced for what it is).
6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor? My favorite ice cream flavor is Butter Pecan ( I measure an ice cream parlor by how good that flavor is). My least favorite is Rum Raisin.
7. Who takes care of your nails? Me, most of the time although I get a manicure once every few months.
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes? Not much a fragrance person. I typically stick with the same ones.

2. What’s more fun: a day hiking or a spa day? Spa day!

4. Who’s the best cook in your family? Me, but only because our clan is really small so there’s no competition.
5. What is your favorite/least favorite makeup brand? Chanel is my favorite. Least favorite RMS beauty.
6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor? My Favorite is from Tillamook -Marionberry Pie which is vanilla with little pieces of pie crust and gooey marionberries (MB is a blackberry-type berry common to Oregon that makes THE best pie).
7. Who takes care of your nails? Me.
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes? I’ll stick with the original Shesheio Zen (not the US remake but the original my husband can still get when he’s in Japan on business) and D & G “Light Blue”.
I have a soft spot for Light Blue. 🙂 Wore it on my wedding day!

The operative word is “fun” so I say hiking. A spa day is more “luxorious”.

Blazer. I am beginning to prefer a structured look.
4. Who’s the best cook in your family?
Me. However my skills have taken a dive since I’ve had kids. Before children, I would take delight in making some complex dishes but these days I don’t have the time. And the meals would end up being criticized anyway.
5. What is your favorite/least favorite makeup brand?
My favorite makeup brands are the ones that understand how important inclusivity is in developing colors. My least favorites are the ones that consider “deep” to be Maya Rudolph’s complexion.
6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor?
Favorite is coconut! Least favorite is basic choclate. I am in the minority on this but I prefer my chocolate delivery method in a bar, cookie or brownie. However, I had a great chocolate ice cream that had spice in it. It elevated my chocolate ice cream experience ten fold!!
7. Who takes care of your nails?
I do. I have never had a salon manicure.
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes?
I’m not sure what makes a perfume “trendy”. But I will say I have a broad range of preferences. So even if everyone is using salt as a perfume note, I will enjoy something with salt in it. Not because everyone is employing it but I can find pleasure in most notes.

4. Who’s the best cook in your family? My Mom, and I’m a close second.
5. What is your favorite/least favorite makeup brand? My favorite is probably ColorPop, it’s really fun. My least favorite are the super expensive fashion house brands.
6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor? Favorite is either pralines and cream from Baskin Robbins or chocolate malted crunch from Rite Aid. Least favorite is strawberry.
7. Who takes care of your nails? Me. Only me. I do not trust anyone with my nails. I am suuuuper picky about my nails.
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes? I normally don’t like them because they are either very heavy or smell like gardenia.

8. What do you think of trendy perfumes? Been burned by following trends in perfume, so I don’t do it anymore. I really hate the “ozone,” “clean laundry” scents that were so popular some years ago. I just pick what I like now – oriental, or floriental, generally. By the way, I’ve never liked a single Lancome perfume – they always smell like cheap chemical concoctions to me.
1. One piece of makeup that instantly makes you feel good when you wear it? I’m currently into Tarte’s energy blush! It’s one of those adaptable blushes and the colour’s pretty.

6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor? Favourite must be coffee (I love any berry-flavoured ice cream too). I hate mint wholeheartedly.
7. Who takes care of your nails? I go to a place called In&Out here in Málaga. Had my nails done today and the’re a pretty fuchsia colour from Opi infinite shine.
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes? I’m quite sensitive to perfume, so I’d stick to the ones I love. Tom Ford Lost Cherry and Sisley’s Izia.

2. What’s more fun: a day hiking or a spa day? Hiking but nothing too strenuous. I like a walk through the botanic garden in our area.
3. Cardigan or blazer? A chunky cardigan when it gets cold around here
4. Who’s the best cook in your family? My dad when he still cooked. In my household, me.
5. What is your favorite/least favorite makeup brand? I mostly use Hourglass so that’s probably a favorite. Anastasia Beverly Hills is the only one I can think of that I didn’t like right away. It must’ve been those really drying lipsticks that turned me off!
6. What is your favorite/least favorite ice cream flavor? Salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks is a recent favorite. I’m not a fan of plain vanilla.
7. Who takes care of your nails? Just me
8. What do you think of trendy perfumes? They don’t appeal to me. I don’t generally like things that have too much hype around them.
OK, KC. Now I need to know your Hourglass favorites!
I had to go look at what I have 😊 I have the ambient lighting blush in mood exposure and luminous flush. I remember infinite flush being a favorite shade, too. I also have the finishing powder in dim light. I used to get their palettes, which are always beautiful, but I quickly realized that I’m more of a single pan person lol. It’s just more practical for me. I also love the volumizing brow gel and that’s the one HG product I get over and over. I have a couple of shades of the Confession lipstick, with If only and One time as my most used. I’ll have to try some of their newer lippies because I usually love their formula. Oh and that lip treatment oil is quite good but too expensive to keep buying! I tried one of their foundations a while back (I think it’s called Immaculate) but I wasn’t a fan because it was too drying for me.
I think I like Hourglass mostly because I prefer a subtle look. Oh have you tried their Equilibrium skincare line? I’m curious about it!
Lots of your favorites are mine too. I’ve always enjoyed their blush, bronzers and setting powders, especially. Lately I’ve been really into their eyeliners! They stay put on my lash and waterlines and don’t irritate my eyes. And yes, the Lip Treatment Oil is amazing but so pricey.
I haven’t tried the Equilibrium line yet, and like you, I’ve been curious.

2. What’s more fun: a day hiking or a spa day? Love the outdoors since I sit in front of a computer all week; however, the spa day is up there in ranks as well!
