So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Neon bright eyeshadow — yes or no?
I don’t mind it! I like it when it’s worn in an edgy, casual way that’s not too overdone. I remember seeing a look a while back with a gal rocking bright orange shadow as a simple swipe of color on her lids, and I thought it looked super cool.
2. Have you ever had eyelash extensions?
Nope. I’ve been curious for sure, but I don’t have the time, energy or the beauty budget to commit to them. It’s just another thing to keep track of, you know? I’d rather just curl my lashes and chuck on some mascara and call it a day.
3. How do you feel about wearing shorts?
I like them in the summer because it gets super hot where I live, but now that I’m in my 40s I’m more picky about the fit, length, material, etc. If I’m gonna wear shorts in public, they’re gonna be looser around the thighs, have a mid-to-high rise and be long enough to cover my bum when I bend over, OMG!
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like?
Oh gosh, bronzer for the win. Cream or powder, it doesn’t matter, just as long as I can dust it on the high points of my face for some warmth and swipe some into my crease for definition.
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve?
I have so many. I guess the main one would be when it feels sticky after you rub it in. When I can feel that suction-y, sticky feeling on the backs of my knees, the crook of my elbows or my neck skin. I just can’t deal!
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips?
Smooth, lightweight, a little sticky but not overly sticky. I really like how the Tower 28 gloss feels on my lips!
7. Speaking of lipgloss, would you rather have one that smells and tastes like pepperoni or tuna?
So gross! Pepperoni sounds a little less disgusting, though.
Happy Monday, my friend. How are you feeling? I’m a little touchy because I booked my dental appointment to deal with my two cavities on Wednesday, so while I’m relieved to be getting it done, I’m not looking forward to it.
I guess I should just be glad to have the access to a good dentist, sigh.

Yes! It can look really cool especially with some black eyeliner.

No – pretty much like you said, time and money consuming!

I have the same criteria as you, Karen, now that I’m 40 I’m not rocking the daisy duke booty shorts! It’s been so hot and humid here so shorts are necessary!

I’ll have to agree with you again, Karen! If I have limited space on a trip, I know bronzer will be a workhorse!

The feeling that my skin can’t breathe when it’s on! But better than getting burnt!

Not too thick but still lasting. Good old MAC Lipglass is probably still my favorite!

I think I am more into neon eyeliner, I am about to order a Natasha Denona chartreuse one!
2. Have you ever had eyelash extensions? Nope, I have been getting my nails done like once every 6-8 weeks lately and that has been enough of a commitment for me!
3. How do you feel about wearing shorts?
Actually shorts are good for my body type, balanced out my tummy. I am also from Texas where it’s hotter then hell, so you just wear the damn shorts!
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like?
My god a bronzy/rosy, or neutral brownish cream blush can be so many things! Haha my two favorite are Westman Atelier Chouchette, and Tower28 Magic Hour
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve?
Burning my eyes which every chemical one does unfortunately!
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips?
Moisturizing, not too sticky, smoothing, I also like the Tower28 ones. I also currently like Maybelline Lifter in the color Sun which is none of those things, it’s just so damn pretty.
7. Speaking of lipgloss, would you rather have one that smells and tastes like pepperoni or tuna?
Pepperoni!

3. How do you feel about wearing shorts? Just more exposed skin to burn (the joys of being a redhead).
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like? BOOM by Cindy Joseph Rose Nude multi stick (new color).
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve? Added fragrance so I smell like a chemical spill at a tropical beach.
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips? Just a slight glossy feel, nothing thick or tacky.
7. Speaking of lipgloss, would you rather have one that smells and tastes like pepperoni or tuna? I’d have to pass on anything non-fruity flavored.

2. Have you ever had eyelash extensions? No. I wouldn’t get them, most of the time they look like caterpillars.
3. How do you feel about wearing shorts? Love them. I live in shorts in the summer. I don’t like them tight, but I do like them on the shorter side, no knee length!
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like? I like those blush, lip, eye sticks.
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve? I don’t like it too greasy or too overly scented.
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips? Hydrating, not sticky, not spicy.
7. Speaking of lipgloss, would you rather have one that smells and tastes like pepperoni or tuna? Pepperoni. But I’d never wear it.

by the way, I love the round coffee table that Rosie is laying under. Mind if I ask where you found it? I have been looking for one I like for a long time.

2. Have you ever had eyelash extensions? No. I don’t think I could lie still for as long as it takes to have them done. Plus, having them filled and filled again as they come out. Not for me.
3. How do you feel about wearing shorts? I hate it. I avoid it all costs. I guess that’s why I’m always hot.
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like? I would say I can’t really think of one. But I realized now that I wear my bronzer as a crease color even though I never wear it on my cheeks anymore.
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve? Eye sting. And sticky, heavy, slimy feel. Oh and the smell.
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips? If I wore gloss, which I don’t, lightweight and non-sticky.
7. Speaking of lipgloss, would you rather have one that smells and tastes like pepperoni or tuna? Ugh. Neither. I prefer all my lip products to be scent free.
If it’s any comfort I have come to hate the dentist as well. My long time, excellent one retired all of a sudden and I hate the replacements he chose for his practice. I went twice and couldn’t stand either of them and I have to admit I need a new dentist ASAP.

2. Have you ever had eyelash extensions? No – like you said, it’s just one more thing to maintain. Also I would get the trainee tech and would end up having them fall out. This is also why I won’t let anyone touch my eyebrows
3. How do you feel about wearing shorts? I like them but I hate shopping for them. They are so hard to find the right fit, cut etc
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like? I’m really into my Merit blushes as blush, eyeshadow & lip balm. Super easy & quick in the morning
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve? Sticky & greasy. It took me forever to find one I would put on my face.
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips? Light, not sticky – more like a lip oil

4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like? Charlotte Tilbury Flawless filter, you it as base, mix it foundation or as highlighter.
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve? Have a few : peeling, dryness, sticky, greasy. Hard to find the perfect one.
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips? Hydrating, light with a hint of color, prefer lip oils.

Yes. It’s a fresh look.

No.

I like them. They’re not flattering to me but much of my clothing is utilitarian. It gets too humid here not to wear them.
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like?
Using a simple taupe eyeshadow to fill in brows.
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve?
When it sits on top of the skin without absorbing. Also there are some that don’t seem to work (we’re talking high SPF here).
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips?
Moisturizing but not so slick that it wanders all over my face.
7. Speaking of lipgloss, would you rather have one that smells and tastes like pepperoni or tuna?
Um, pepperoni I guess. As a vegetarian it’s a tough choice.
1. Neon bright eyeshadow — yes or no? Never on me. One thing I’ve noticed is that young, beautiful people can wear any makeup look. That doesn’t apply to anyone not beautiful, or older than 45.
2. Have you ever had eyelash extensions? No. Probably too much trouble, time, and expense involved for me.
3. How do you feel about wearing shorts? Not me, unless I were doing chores around the house and no one would see me. I have an odd lower leg condition that might have been caused by my lymphoma, and no one wants to see that.
4. What’s a multitasking makeup product that you like? Matte bronzer that can be used as eyeshadow.
5. Your sunscreen pet peeve? Heavy, greasy feel, with a white cast. Also, the difficulty in getting it completely removed from your pores.
6. How does your ideal gloss feel like on your lips? Light, not sticky.
7. Speaking of lipgloss, would you rather have one that smells and tastes like pepperoni or tuna? Pepperoni. The smell of tuna kind of turns my stomach.

2. Have you ever had eyelash extensions? No. I’m lucky to still have my natural lashes and I find that lash serum helps keep them in good condition.
3. How do you feel about wearing shorts? I wear them to the beach and to do sporty activities, but these days I much prefer loose, breezy jumpsuits even for hot days.
