So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Tie dye or acid wash?
Tie dye with lots of white space! Ideally with one or two soft pastels – pink and mint green, preferably.
2. Last time you felt inspired to do makeup?
Ooh, last night I stumbled onto an effortless summer glamor tutorial on Instagram by a model named Jessica Clements that I thought was lovely! Just enough makeup to make things interesting but not so much that the look was heavy or overworked.
3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation?
Supergoop Sunset shimmer eyeshadow, Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum (seriously the best for sheer coverage and summery skin!) and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Blush in Corsica.
4. What did your high school backpack look like?
It looked exactly like this! It was a woven multi-colored backpack with thin black straps which dug into my shoulders every time I wore it because I overloaded it with books. I suffered for fashion. Why it never occurred to me to get a better fitting bag, I don’t know.
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today?
Iced tea, please, with ice and a splash of lemonade. It’s gonna be a hot 90 degrees out here today and I’m already melting.
Hiya and happy Monday! We’re back from camping on the Russian River. It was our last trip of the summer, and although I feel a little sad to see this sweet season of family time and outdoor adventures come to an end, I’m also very, very tired – from all the to-do lists, the packing and unpacking, the traveling back and forth, the meal planning… Do you feel this way or have you ever felt this way, too? It’s very bittersweet. And exhausting. LOL!

Went to the Barbie movie on Saturday night with a girlfriend and I did some pink shadow and pink lipstick.

Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara, Makeup Forever Concealer, and Revlon Colorstay Foundation.
4. What did your high school backpack look like?
Purple Jansport.
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today?
Both! I’ve been making my own cold brew and iced tea (green tea and herbal ginger mixed together.)

2. Last time you felt inspired to do makeup? Saturday evening. Went out to dinner with Dear Husband and I used a lot of the makeup he brought me from Japan.
3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? Shiseido SynchroShield SPF50+ PA++++(from Japan), SUQQU Nude Wear Liquid EX foundation and KissMe Heroine Make Long and Curl Advanced Film mascara.
4. What did your high school backpack look like? Lol. We didn’t carry backpacks back then. We just stacked our books and I had a pencil case that clipped into one of my binders. I think when I had extra stuff to carry I had a floral, quilted Vera Bradley tote bag.
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today? Cold brew coffee with ice in it.
“I’m also very, very tired – from all the to-do lists, the packing and unpacking, the traveling back and forth, the meal planning” – THIS is why I hate camping. It’s not really a vacation for me. Plus there’s all the cooking and cleaning up I still do, except it’s more inconvenient because it’s on a fire or a grill and there’s no automatic dishwasher.

2. Last time you felt inspired to do makeup? Actually this morning since I was excited about trying a new skin tint.
3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? Easy: 1. Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin tint, Chanel waterproof eyeliner in Espresso and Bobbi Brown bronzing powder in Stonestreet.
4. What did your high school backpack look like? Pretty basic black.
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today? Iced coffee.
Finally saw Oppenheimer this weekend in a theater. I haven’t been in a theater in 3 years. It was pretty awesome. Be well.
1. Tie dye or acid wash? Tie dye, but not the crazy psychedelic stuff from the sixties.
2. Last time you felt inspired to do makeup? I watched Cheri Voyage do the Latte makeup and replicated it the following day. Since then, I’ve only had to tweak it a little bit to suit my age and coloring. Cheri’s a fantastic makeup artists. What I love about her channel is that as she is doing a look she explains why something works and how to adjust for different age groups.
3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? When it comes to skincare, it’s sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. As for actual makeup, I’m loving my Clé de Peau cushion foundation, my CdP eyeshadows, and my Gucci blushers.

Oops! Somehow I left off 4 and 5.
4. I’m revealing my age but we didn’t have backpacks when I was in high school. We carried our books stacked on top of our three ring binder.
5. I love iced tea; especially Bellini (herbal).

2. Last time you felt inspired to do makeup? I rarely put on much make up these days, light foundation, blush, mascara and lip gloss.
3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? I absolutely love the Rose Inc. Tinted Serum (thank you for the recommendation), Thrive mascara in navy blue, and Glossier stretch concealer in light.
4. What did your high school backpack look like? Haha, back in the stone age, we didn’t use backpacks (there was no such thing), just piled our books on top of each other and hefted them home.
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today? I love both, but I’ll go with Iced Coffee.

3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? Neocutis journee firm cream as my tinted moisturizer/spf, Lancôme lash idole mascara, and hourglass universe unlocked palette

3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? All MAC products for a “no makeup but better” look – Lustre Eyeshadow Single in Honey Lust, Extra Dimension Skin Finish Powder Highlighter in Double Gleam, and Powder Kiss lipstick in Sultry Move.
4. What did your high school backpack look like? No one carried them when I was a kid in the 60s. You just lugged everything in your arms. (uphill in a snowstorm if I’m telling my grandkids who all want their own cars to drive to school).
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today? I had ice kombucha tea (homemade from Gunpowder Green and Jasmine Green Teas, Flavored with Lemon and Ginger.)

2. Last time you felt inspired to do makeup? Probably in April, before it got hot here. Makeup is kind of wasted if it sweats off your face, as it will outdoors from May to the end of October, in my area.
3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? TheBalm BalmShelter (I still have some), Laura Mercier face powder (samples – it’s too expensive otherwise), and Milani Luminoso blush.
4. What did your high school backpack look like? In my day, no one used a backpack. We all had lockers, and would go to our lockers between each class if there was enough time to do so. I used a canvas tote bag because I had to carry so much, and the idiots I went to school with harassed me about that (as well as every single thing they could think of – I was always targeted for abuse, mostly because I was an outsider who was forced to come into 7th grade in the middle of the school year, and all the rest of those awful people had gone to school together for 7 years).

Oh, it’s been a while. I recently moved in with my elderly parents to help out. Between months (!) of packing and the logistics of moving 6 hours from my former home makeup fell by the wayside. I am still in the process of unpacking and constantly surprising myself with makeup treats I didn’t remember I had!

L’Oreal Telescopic mascara, Escada Santorini Sunrise fragrance, La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light sunscreen SPF60.
4. What did your high school backpack look like?
It was a navy blue Jansport, torn at the top and yogurt stained.
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today?
Hm, could I have some coffee ice cream instead?
Of course you can have coffee ice cream! May I suggest Haagen Daaz? YUM!
1. Tie dye or acid wash? Tie dye. I actually have a mostly white with light purple tie dyed t-shirt from Old Navy from a few years ago that I’ve been wearing regularly on the weekends.
2. Last time you felt inspired to do makeup? Inspired to do it? Probably pre-pandemic. I’ve bought a few small eyeshadow palettes since but not been very happy with any of it. Then I talk myself out of buying makeup because I almost never bother to put any on.
3. What are 3 products in your current makeup rotation? Not much. Clear brow gel is a must. I’ve used some BareMinerals tinted moisturizer and the foundation stick as a concealer. I’ve worn mascara maybe 2-3 times in the last few months.
4. What did your high school backpack look like? I had a few but the one that lasted the longest was a big black EMS one with green embroidery.
5. Ice coffee or iced tea today? Neither – Diet Dr. Pepper (limit of 3 cans a day) and then various flavors of unsweetened seltzer.
