So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. What’s more exciting – finding a really great lipstick or finding a really great foundation?
Ooh, you know I love both! I think it’s harder to find a foundation that ticks all the boxes, so let’s go with that.
2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you?
These days, not really. I wore it a lot up until 2020, though!
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today?
A slice of apple would be lovely! I’d like it with a cup of coffee, please.
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head?
The best thing for me usually is to take a walk around my neighborhood. It’s a good four blocks or so with hills and doesn’t have a lot of traffic, so I can get lost in my thoughts without having to worry about cars and whatnot.
5. Musicals or scary movies?
I’ll take the musicals, please. Real life is scary enough, LOL!

I agree it’s hard to find that perfect foundation. But I’d get more use out of a great lipstick. Decisions, decisions.
2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you?
Not anymore! I recently bought the new RMS powder highlighter which is the first one I’ve purchased in several years. I just haven’t found the perfect brush for application.
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today?
I’m feeling fall so I’ll go with sweet potato. With a dollop of whipped cream.
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head?
There’s a great walking trail not too far from my house that has a stream and little waterfalls. You can also go off trail and feel like you’re miles from the city.
5. Musicals or scary movies?
Scary movies all day every day! I have always loved them. This is my season.

Lipstick. Like you I’m into more into sheer foundation now, but lippies rock my world.
2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you?
Just a touch. Westman Super Loaded Tinted Highlight and Jones Road Miracle Balm are my current favorites.
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today?
I made an apple pie yesterday – so apple it is.
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head?
To a quiet room to do some needlepoint. Needlepoint is both creative and calming for me in my times of need.
5. Musicals or scary movies?
Musicals. I deal with enough scary stuff on a daily basis.
And as for jury duty: the day after I retired from a litigation practice, I was noticed for jury duty, for a six- month trial. They didn’t want me, as nobody wants a lawyer on their jury. Whew.
1. What’s more exciting – finding a really great lipstick or finding a really great foundation? Foundation!!! I am always looking for the “perfect” foundation. Lipstick is much easier to find.

5. Musicals or scary movies? Scary…I have always loved scary movies, haunted houses, and all things Halloween🎃
Oh, my gosh on the poll being #800! That’s a lot of Mondays! 🙂 Good luck with jury duty but, as I like to say, thank goodness we all have the opportunity. Heaven forbid that I or one of my loved ones was ever on trial. I’d hope to have a jury full of capable, fair-minded, caring peers to hear the facts and pass judgement. 🙂

1. What’s more exciting – finding a really great lipstick or finding a really great foundation? I hardly wear foundation but can’t get enough of lipsticks. I get excited over the lippie favorites set that Sephora puts out.

4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head? The guest bedroom in our house has some of my houseplants and a comfy chair and ottoman where I sometimes sit and listen to music or just veg out.
5. Musicals or scary movies? Lately, scary movies. We binged the first four Scream movies this weekend. It was getting pretty ridiculous so we’ll probably stop there lol
I served my one day of jury duty 2 weeks ago. It was for a drug trafficking case and all I could think of during the juror interviews was Better Call Saul!

1. What’s more exciting – finding a really great lipstick or finding a really great foundation? Foundation – but it has to be more skincare than heavy coverage. Natural, fresh, glowy
2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you? Highlighter is for nights out. I use a foundation/skin tint that is a bit glowy for everyday
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today? Favorite is key lime but it’s cold & rainy so warm apple pie would be good today
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head? I live by a river & there is a trail along each side. I walk & run out there regularly
5. Musicals or scary movies? Scary but suspenseful not slasher scary/horror types
1. What’s more exciting – finding a really great lipstick or finding a really great foundation? I’m always interested in a light to medium buildable foundation that has a soft, real-skin glow. My current fave is Clé de Peau’s radiant cushion.
2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you? I don’t necessarily wear a full face of makeup everyday, but when I do, I always use a luminizer. Think glow rather than sparkle.
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today? I’d love a slice of deep dish cherry pie wit homemade filling–none of that horrible canned stuff!
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head? I like to work in the gardens.
5. Musicals or scary movies? I’m a real sucker for many of the classic Halloween movies.
1. What’s more exciting – finding a really great lipstick or finding a really great foundation? Foundation, for sure, because of my odd, very light skin tone.
2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you? No.
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today? Pecan’s my favorite, but I also like key lime pie, which is great for any hot day, which we are continuing to have here, and we will probably have hot weather on and off until Oct. 27th or thereabouts.
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head? Not sure. My neighborhood has incredible traffic noise, and the weather is pretty bad most of the time, so not walking the neighborhood. I do like visiting a large bookstore, or the library. If we still had a mall within 5 miles, maybe I’d go there. Texas is not known for large, bucolic parks in the big cities. The vast majority of the non-sports parks are very small. Most parks here are featureless soccer fields, or baseball fields for Little League and such.
5. Musicals or scary movies? I don’t care too much for either, but if I had to choose, I’d pick musicals, because, as you said, real life is scary enough.

2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you? I never use highlighter it tends to emphasize texture on my face. Although I did break my no buy highlighter and bought two Rare Beauty highlighters, but I use them as eye shadows for a little shimmer!

2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you? I use just a little swipe of an Ilea one on my checkbones and under my brow. That, mascara, and lipstick is about all I wear on a daily basis.
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today? Lemon Meringue.
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head? Our family farm in Southern Illinois – there’s a small lake there with trees that’s so peaceful.

I’m a fool for lipstick so I am always excited when I find my 100th “perfect” coral or toast shade.

No.

In my bed or in my car.

I don’t need to sleep so it’s all about the good scare.
I’m really late to this one, this week. It’s been kinda hard, wishing it was easier.
1. What’s more exciting – finding a really great lipstick or finding a really great foundation? Considering I have dozens of lipsticks I like and a good handful of ones I love and a slew of foundations that come close but just aren’t quite there, I’m gonna go with foundation. I would be super excited to find one that ticked all the boxes for me.
2. Is highlighter an everyday thing for you? I never wear highlighter. I think it’s time to go through my cheek products drawer and toss the one or two that have been sitting there for ages.
3. What type of pie would you like a slice of today? Apple with vanilla or caramel ice cream (my F-I-L liked it with melted cheddar cheese) or nectarine/blackberry with again a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
4. A place you like to go when you need to clear your head? My garage. It’s where my rowing machine is and 5 minutes rowing usually kickstarts the head clearing.
