So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Are you naturally athletic?
Eh, I’d say I kinda am, but I’m no sports superstar. It really depends on what the assignment is! With endurance things that are solo (like running, walking or swimming) I do ok. I’m also alright at things that involve a lot of balance, like surfing. If there are fast moving objects flying through the air though, forget about it. Let’s just say you don’t want me on your volleyball team!
2. Something on your Christmas list?
I’d really like a rug for my living room.
3. If you have a pet, where’s your pet at this very moment?
Wait, let me check! Aww, Rosie-Pose is sleeping amongst Connor’s stuffies. Too cute.
4. Your current favorite easy snack?
The salted frozen edamame in pods from Trader Joe’s is easy, delicious and has protein. I’m also loving the Boom Chicka Pop Butter Popcorn in a bag. I fill up a bowl with the popcorn, add a small handful of cashews and dried fruit, and I’m so, so happy.
5. How’s your hair today?
It’s so cray! I washed it last night and haven’t had a chance to deal with it. Connor coughed all night long and so she’s home today. I thankfully was able to get her into an early morning appointment with her pediatrician, and I’m only just now sitting down at my desk to do some writing. Maybe I’ll wrestle with my hair after I finish the poll. Or maybe not, ha ha!
6. Something you need to get done?
I really need to sign a stack of paperwork that’s due soon. I should also wrap some Christmas presents! Oh, and comb my hair and brush my teeth and get out of my pajamas. LOL. Did I mention we got no sleep last night and had a bananas morning? Sigh.
7. Something you’re lovin’ these days?
Eating a breakfast that’s high in protein, and low in sugar and carbs. I started doing this a few weeks ago and now feel like a completely different person, in a good way, in the morning.
Have a wonderful rest of your day, sweet friend. I hope you’re healthy and happy and that you’re feeling the holiday spirit.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Thanks!

2. Something on your Christmas list?Realistically sunglasses , dream christmas list , a trip to Bali
3. If you have a pet, where’s your pet at this very moment? I did and if he were still here , he would be on top of my bed chasing the sun’s warmth.
4. Your current favorite easy snack? pop corn or nature’s valley granola with some yogurt
5. How’s your hair today? its on top of my head.
6. Something you need to get done? my paper for my class.
7. Something you’re lovin’ these days? buying sunshades as christmas gifts for myself.
1. Are you naturally athletic? Fairly. I played sports but never had the drive to be that top tier type
2. Something on your Christmas list? A ceiling in my bedroom & living room Context- it’s not open air just open to the insulation and I’m over it and really want it done & scaffolding out and the light fixtures hung. The mess is on my last nerve
3. If you have a pet, where’s your pet at this very moment? One is treading on my shoulder, one on my bed, one playing in the plastic drop cloth, one eating & the last one meowing for no reason downstairs
4. Your current favorite easy snack? The cheddar almond crackers. Think cheez its but made with almond flour and thin like a cracker
5. How’s your hair today? Same as always
6. Something you need to get done? Once the scaffolding is gone I have to deep clean everything in the living room
7. Something you’re lovin’ these days? Going to Philadelphia Flyers games. I love hockey & we have season tickets. They are doing pretty good and it’s so much fun again ( they have kinda been terrible the past 2-3 years). Loving it while it lasts
1. Are you naturally athletic? Sort of. Especially when I was in junior high.
2. Something on your Christmas list? Well, I’m at the age and situation where I’ll probably not even get a Christmas card. Things I would like to have right now: 43″ or larger TV, an air fryer, and a new car. My current TV is 31.5″, I don’t have a toaster oven or air fryer, and my car is almost 21 years old.
3. If you have a pet, where’s your pet at this very moment? Don’t have one. I need to visit the pet cemetery to make sure my last two dogs’ graves are being tended.
4. Your current favorite easy snack? Probably microwave popcorn. If I’m making something from scratch, I usually make chocolate chip cookies or oatmeal cookies.
5. How’s your hair today? Okay. A lot thinner than it used to be; aging and chemo took its toll.
6. Something you need to get done? Oh my god, so much. Estate matters, house organizing and cleaning, bill payments, car shopping, etc., etc.
7. Something you’re lovin’ these days? Not much. I’m in grief survival mode. I did put up the bird feeder, and it was nice to see the birds found it after about a week.
Today’s visitors included chickadees and tufted titmouses (titmice?).
1. Are you naturally athletic?
I have never played on a sports team for school or any other instance but I think I would have the endurance and skill for speed walking. 😉
2. Something on your Christmas list?
Perfume. Same as every year.
3. If you have a pet, where’s your pet at this very moment?
No pets.
4. Your current favorite easy snack?
Karen, I’m also going to mention a TJ’s item. The umami rice snacks are delicious! Even my younger son loves them!
5. How’s your hair today?
Like all the glam girls (Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Tyra), I wear wigs. So my hair is always spot on.
6. Something you need to get done?
Finish Christmas shopping for the kids.
7. Something you’re lovin’ these days?
Nail polish strips.
1. Are you naturally athletic? Sorta. I think I missed the window for developing that skill because my mom was anti-sports, anti- any physical activity that might be remotely dangerous in her mind. She made me take dance lessons which I hated because I have no ear for music. I rode horses pretty well. I was mediocre at ice skating. I’m pretty good at weight lifting and rowing. I’d like to try archery.
2. Something on your Christmas list? To be able to spend more quality time with Dear Husband and Dear Daughter and travel with them more.
3. If you have a pet, where’s your pet at this very moment? Nibbler is sitting in the open, front window, smelling all the smells, soaking in the sunshine and eyeing the birds and fat squirrels.
4. Your current favorite easy snack? Kimchi straight out of the jar. I’ve been craving sugar and I find that a little kimchi kills that craving. I also like Boom Chicka popcorn, but I find it just fuels my carb cravings.
5. How’s your hair today? Still clipped back from my workout. I need to take a shower and wash it.
6. Something you need to get done? So much. I need to scrub the cat box and cat fountain, make up Dear Daughter’s bed and bedroom (she’s flying in tomorrow) wrap the small gifts I got for her and Dear Husband. Start laying out things to pack for our upcoming trip. Schedule a bunch doctor, eye doctor, derm and dentist appointments.
7. Something you’re lovin’ these days? Mystery/detective novels by Michael Connelly. All the K-dramas on Netflix, Hulu and Rakuten Viki.
I need to get back into the habit of eating a high protein, complex carb breakfast. Every time we go to Japan I eat a large high protein breakfast and it carries me through the day and I eat less for lunch and dinner and I have fewer sugar cravings. I swear I’ll eat like that when we get home, but then I fall back into my old simple carbs habit.
