So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Stand up comedy – love it or leave it?
Eh, leave it. I find it a little tedious, and I’m not a fan of comics who are mean.
2. Do you and your family or friends play April Fool’s pranks on each other?
Nah, but if we did, it would be epic.
3. Something beauty related that you thought was a prank but actually wasn’t?
Years ago Demeter had a perfume that smelled like tomato vines, and I thought it was a joke for the longest time until I actually ran into the perfume in person and gave it a sniff — and it smelled really good!
4. Have you ever successfully pulled off an April Fool’s prank?
5. Someone in your life who can make you laugh so hard that you get tears in your eyes?
El Hub and Connor both crack me up!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

1. Stand up comedy – love it or leave it? For the most part, leave it. There are some stand ups that I do enjoy, but so many of them are mean and snarky.
2. Do you and your family or friends play April Fool’s pranks on each other? No.
3. Something beauty related that you thought was a prank but actually wasn’t? Curling irons for eyelashes.
4. Have you ever successfully pulled off an April Fool’s prank? No, because I don’t do pranks.
5. Someone in your life who can make you laugh so hard that you get tears in your eyes? One of my sons and his wife. They’re hysterical at times.
I should have clarified that by eyelash curling iron I was referring to the ones that actually heat up. Not sure I’d want anything like that near my eyes.
1. Stand up comedy – love it or leave it?
I love it! John Mulaney is my favorite at the moment.
2. Do you and your family or friends play April Fool’s pranks on each other?
No – but I feel like in the future my twins will be pranksters!
3. Something beauty related that you thought was a prank but actually wasn’t?
Blood facials – I remember hearing that the Kardashian’s do these vampire facials. Then I heard about aestheticians who do them incorrectly and end up spreading diseases. No thanks!
4. Have you ever successfully pulled off an April Fool’s prank?
I really can’t think of the last time I did a prank! I should put it on my to do list!
5. Someone in your life who can make you laugh so hard that you get tears in your eyes?
My two year old twins!
1. Stand up comedy – love it or leave it? It’s okay if it’s really good. I’ve always found that a really good comedian is smarter than the average person. Not too fond of Seinfeld, as his “observational comedy” isn’t really smart. I suspect George Carlin had an IQ at least 10 points higher than Seinfeld’s. Joan Rivers material seemed to only be either self-deprecating, or low-brow insults to other celebrities. Not a fan of that.
2. Do you and your family or friends play April Fool’s pranks on each other? No, thank goodness. Don’t like pranksters at all, because there’s a certain mean-spiritedness to people who love to pull pranks on others.
3. Something beauty related that you thought was a prank but actually wasn’t?
Maybe the Mojave eyeshadow palette from some time back?
4. Have you ever successfully pulled off an April Fool’s prank? Never really tried to. I’m not mean-spirited. I wouldn’t even try to do that unless I had a valid grudge against the person I’m trying to prank.
5. Someone in your life who can make you laugh so hard that you get tears in your eyes? No one. Occasionally something on TV will surprise me, like certain parts of “The Good Place.”
1. Stand up comedy – love it or leave it?
Absolutely love it! I’ve never actually been to a comedy club but I love to watch specials featuring my favorite comedians. Stand up is so raw and frank–there’s no sugar coating a joke in that forum.
2. Do you and your family or friends play April Fool’s pranks on each other?
Not every year. Though last year my husband and I put chocolate smears on the toilet paper roll in the kids’ bathroom. And another year, my sons and I put googly eyes on the food in the fridge. My husband didn’t notice.
3. Something beauty related that you thought was a prank but actually wasn’t?
Nothing comes to mind.
4. Have you ever successfully pulled off an April Fool’s prank?
The toilet paper incident described above.
5. Someone in your life who can make you laugh so hard that you get tears in your eyes?
My friend Jennifer.
