So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Boba or an Icee?
Boba, half sweet, light ice.
2. Could you survive a night out in the woods on your own?
I’m leaning towards yes, although I can’t say definitively that I’d make it out with all my limbs intact, OMG! The thought of being around for Connor and El Hub would be my prime motivator for making it through the night, which is a pretty powerful “why” for me, but I dunno. I’m not built for the outdoors.
3. Concealer: more coverage or less?
Less, please. If it’s too full coverage my skin looks funky.
4. Remote, in person or hybrid?
In person right now, but I’m hoping to do a hybrid schedule in the future.
5. Skorts: yes or no?
Sure, why not?

2. Could you survive a night out in the woods on your own? Yeah, no issue. It would be helpful to have a jack knife and flint, but not required, especially this time of year. I would probably be too freaked out to sleep in the open though – lots of bats and rabies in this area.
3. Concealer: more coverage or less? Less for sure and likely not around my eyes at all. Things are getting a bit too crepey on their own in that area.
4. Remote, in person or hybrid? In-person, but that’s because most of my group is in-person 100% (chemical labs). We’ve been FT in person since July 2020 and basically went back to the very occasional day WFH.
5. Skorts: yes or no? Probably not, would just go with a split skirt/palazzo pants instead if needed.

Boba. I tried the new one at Starbucks and I’m sure it’s not very authentic but I liked it!

I could. I wouldn’t sleep or anything but I could make it. Whenever I see apocalypse movies or shows I think “Nope. I’d be toast.”

Medium.

In person. I would have no motivation to work from home.

I think they look cute on other people but not on me!
1. Boba or an Icee? Boba. Minimal ice, no sugar.
2. Could you survive a night out in the woods on your own? A night alone, yeah. With Dear Daughter we could make it through armageddon.
3. Concealer: more coverage or less? I guess less, because I threw out all my concealers because I wasn’t using them.
4. Remote, in person or hybrid? Right now remote, but I’m beginning to see it’s limitations. So maybe hybrid?

1. Boba or an Icee? I’ve never had a boba but every time I went to Target I’d get an Icee.
2. Could you survive a night out in the woods on your own? Yes, I used to hike a lot in the mountains out West and have spent more than one night in the woods on my own.
3. Concealer: more coverage or less? Less, most concealer just looks thick and dry on me so I never wear it.
4. Remote, in person or hybrid? I’m remotely sited – I work in DC but live in Chicago, almost everything is virtual except the occasional forensic consult but 98% is at home.
5. Skorts: yes or no? No, I have short thick legs, I’d like to think “poised athletic gymnast” but my brother as a kid would call them “hamster legs”. So I avoid shorts in any form.

2. Could you survive a night out in the woods on your own? Depends on where. In mosquitoville (TX from May to October), not without mosquito repellent, or a mosquito-proof tent. Would prefer a climate that’s not too hot or cool, and I’d need an electric fence to surround my tent. They make portable ones for people who camp in bear country.

4. Remote, in person or hybrid? Well, I’m doing the hybrid now, and it’s just not the same – so few people are in the office at any given time. There’s nothing social about it now. I might as well retire because I don’t think the way it was will ever return.
5. Skorts: yes or no? Yes.

2. Could you survive a night out in the woods on your own? Yes. I have years of backpacking under my belt so I have some good survival skills.
3. Concealer: more coverage or less? I don’t wear concealer. When hay fever darkens my under eye area, I use two thin layers of my foundation. I apply one thin layer, let it set, then add another thin layer. I use a good quality foundation which, unlike concealer, never creases under my 80 year old eyes.
4. Remote, in person or hybrid? I’m retired. Whoopi!
5. Skorts: yes or no? I’ve never felt comfortable in shorts.
