So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Which foreign language would you like to speak fluently: French, Spanish or Chinese?
Spanish because it would be useful for where I live in Northern California. So many times people looking for help have come up to me in stores or walking down the street to me if I speak it, and I always wish I could say yes. I only know a handful of words, though.
2. Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast?
Oh my goodness, breakfast for dinner for sure! I once had dinner for breakfast once out of desperation, and I had a terrible stomach ache all day.
3. Pick a job: bookshop owner, makeup artist or a dog walker?
Dog walker, but I’d specialize in small-to-medium sized dogs because hello, big dogs equal big poop, LOL!
4. What’s the secret to having a good day?
I think a big part of it is having the ability to let whatever is bothering you at the moment go. Also, you know what I’ve found also really helps? Assuming that people are coming at you with the best intentions.
5. Which would you rather buy for yourself: liquid lipstick or liquid liner?
I’ll take the liquid liner, please. I need a new one!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

1. Which foreign language would you like to speak fluently: French, Spanish or Chinese? Spanish – it would the most helpful in my area.
2. Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast? Breakfast for dinner. Dinner for breakfast sounds so heavy on the stomach.

5. Which would you rather buy for yourself: liquid lipstick or liquid liner? Liquid liner – I’m not a fan of liquid lipstick.
Love your dragon picture. My daughter is obsessed with all things dragon right now!
I love that your daughter is obsessed with dragons! I just finished reading a series with dragons in it and now I feel like I need a dragon buddy. LOL!
1. Which foreign language would you like to speak fluently: French, Spanish or Chinese? I already speak French and Spanish, but I’d love to learn Manderin as that is my beautiful daughter-in-law’s native language.
2. Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast? I don’t have much appetite in the morning so I’ll go with breakfast for dinner.
3. Pick a job: bookshop owner, makeup artist or a dog walker? Dog walker—a wonderful way to get some companionable exercise and explore a neighborhood.
4. What’s the secret to having a good day? Live in the moment; take things as they come.
5. Which would you rather buy for yourself: liquid lipstick or liquid liner? Hmmm . . . I don’t like liquid lipstick and it’s been years since I last wore liquid eyeliner. I guess I’ll go with the eyeliner since I used to love the eyeliner pen by Tom Ford.
I loved that pen liner, too! It was chef’s kiss.
1. Which foreign language would you like to speak fluently: French, Spanish or Chinese? French. It’s what I studied in school, but I was definitely not fluent. Although given the choice of any language, it would be Welsh, which has been my pandemic hobby.
2. Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast? Breakfast for dinner 100%.
3. Pick a job: bookshop owner, makeup artist or a dog walker? Bookshop owner, but it would have to turn a profit.
4. What’s the secret to having a good day? Getting enough sleep and getting through your overnight email first thing.
5. Which would you rather buy for yourself: liquid lipstick or liquid liner? Liquid lipstick for sure. I’ve tried liquid liner a couple of times, and I look like a jackass wearing it.
Liquid liner is tricky. Sometimes the color can make a difference, though. Were you wearing black liner? I find that brown is easier and softer.
1. Which foreign language would you like to speak fluently: French, Spanish or Chinese?
French, since I can already follow along if someone speaks slowly. Otherwise, Chinese might be fun.
2. Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast?
Dinner for breakfast! I’ll have a small serving of cold spaghetti, please.
3. Pick a job: bookshop owner, makeup artist or a dog walker?
Bookshop owner. My bestie owns a dog walking business and it sounds exhausting, both physically and mentally.
4. What’s the secret to having a good day?
Some good tunes playing in the background (or in your head).
5. Which would you rather buy for yourself: liquid lipstick or liquid liner?
Liquid lipstick. Even when a makeup artist applied it, liquid liner makes me itch and I blink about 50 times, resulting in an unappealing look!
Hi Susan,
Re: spgahetti for breakfast. I saw a recipe recently for spaghetti pie and it almost made me want to try having dinner for breakfast, ha ha ha!
have a great week. 🙂
Ooh, Karen! That sounds more exciting than it should!
Let me see if I can find it again. When I do, I’ll write it down (for both you and me, ha ha ha). Carbs forever!
1. Which foreign language would you like to speak fluently: French, Spanish or Chinese?
Spanish. I’m actually pretty good at reading it since I had 2 years of it in high school and roughly another year in earlier grades (4th [California – taught by a Cuban refugee] and 6th [Austin, TX]). I am, of course, surrounded by Spanish speakers in Texas. French would only be worthwhile if I were going to spend something like a year in France (not likely). Chinese would be interesting, but you know there’s more than one kind of Chinese language. Also, not that useful unless you’re going to spend about a year there.
2. Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast? Breakfast for dinner. Pancakes or waffles. Eggs are too greasy for a night meal.
3. Pick a job: bookshop owner, makeup artist or a dog walker? Bookshop owner, but that’s an extremely difficult thing to make a profit at these days. We lost two really good CHAIN bookshops (Bookstop and Borders) in my area in the last 25 years or so. Also, Walden Books and Brentanos departed long ago. Somehow, Half Price Books continues to stay in business.
4. What’s the secret to having a good day? Ugh – I have no secret formula for that. It seems the older I get, the more (bleep) I have to deal with, only to end up dying anyway. The utter futility of life often gets to me. Kind of like that Paul Simon lyric, “a good day, ain’t got no rain, a bad day’s when I lie in bed, and think of things that might have been.”
5. Which would you rather buy for yourself: liquid lipstick or liquid liner? Liquid lipstick.
1. Which foreign language would you like to speak fluently: French, Spanish or Chinese? I’d love to finally be fluent in French. I’d also like to brush up on my high school Spanish. Right now I’m struggling with Japaneses and a little less so with Korean.
2. Breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast? Dinner for breakfast. Salad, pizza, fish…
3. Pick a job: bookshop owner, makeup artist or a dog walker? Bookshop owner. But I’d have to hire lots of staff because basically I’d sit there and read all day long.
4. What’s the secret to having a good day? A good night’s sleep.
5. Which would you rather buy for yourself: liquid lipstick or liquid liner? Lipstick as long as it’s SUQQU Comfort Fluid Fog.
