So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Last Halloween costume you wore?
Hmm, a couple years ago I was a panda! It was a low-effort panda though. LOL!

2. Best and worst Halloween candy?
I used to love Snickers, but now I find them too sweet, so please give me all the Ghrirardelli Caramel Squares. As for the worst ones, I automatically toss the rolls of Smarties and anything licorice related. Blech!
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black?
Black with a high shine top coat please.
4. Vampires or werewolves?
I’d rather hang out with the werewolves.
5. Scariest Halloween movie?
“The Shining” still freaks me out!

5. Scariest Halloween movie?

1. Last Halloween costume you wore? As a kid, the last one was a black velvet dress that had belonged to my mother, shortened and altered, with an old “princess” Halloween mask from a boxed Halloween costume. As far back as I can remember, I went as a “princess” or “fairy princess.” (Only difference is the “fairy princess” came with a “magic wand” of shiny cardboard.) Not sure why, though my parents were kind of cheap and wouldn’t have been favorable toward buying a new costume if the old one would do. In those days almost everyone still wore those stiff plastic masks with the eye and nostril holes in them. I haven’t worn a costume since, but I’ve occasionally thought about using an old dark dress with a witch hat while opening the door to trick-or-treaters. I’ve always wanted to be invited to a costume party, but that has never happened.
2. Best and worst Halloween candy? Best – probably $100,000 Bar, though it has to be reasonably fresh. They don’t age well. Worst – Tie between Butterfinger and that weird stuff whose name I can’t remember that was hard and had a slightly peanut-butter flavor.
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black? Black. Though orange is becoming more popular now as a “gun control advocate” color. I notice the women anchors and pundits are wearing orange clothing more and more these days.
4. Vampires or werewolves? Vampires – the “live forever and can fly” is really appealing, especially as one gets older.
5. Scariest Halloween movie? I don’t watch many scary movies. Of movies I have seen, probably the older “Final Destination” movie. There’s also an old black and white movie from the early ’60s whose title is “The Haunting,” if I remember correctly, that’s scary without being gory.
I saw “Final Destination” in the theater and was terrified. I think I saw “The Haunting” back in the day, too… I have a vague recollection of getting it at Blockbuster.
1. Last Halloween costume you wore?
I dressed up as the woman getting attacked by birds in Alfred Hitchcocks’ “The Birds” movie. I still have it and may wear it again sometime!
2. Best and worst Halloween candy?
That’s tough! I like most candy, gummies, chocolate, anything sweet! Except no candy corn for me!
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black?
Orange.
4. Vampires or werewolves.
Vampires!
5. Scariest Halloween movie?
Carrie.
Ooh Carrie is terrifying! I remember being super freaked out by the prom scene.
1. Last Halloween costume you wore?
Witch, of course.
2. Best and worst Halloween candy?
Best: Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews. Worst: Mary Janes.
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black?
Black, always.
4. Vampires or werewolves?
Vampires. Love the capes, the bats, and the whole aesthetic.
5. Scariest Halloween movie?
I’ll go with the original The Haunting (1963), with an honorable mention to the particularly eerie Don’t Look Now (1973). For some campy fun, House on Haunted Hill (1959) can’t be beat. Who can resist Vincent Price?
Loved Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, and Bella Lugosi—and dancing to “The Monster Mash”. Good times 😃
1. Last Halloween costume you wore?
I think it was a banana. It’s simple to slip over my regular clothes. The head piece is kind of frustrating to keep on. I’ve been a pirate a couple times. Often I don’t dress up.
2. Best and worst Halloween candy?
Best-butterfinger, snickers, Kit Kats & peanut butter cups
Worst-gummie things, sour things, those fruit flavored tootsie rolls
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black?
Dark dark purple, or very dark blue. I don’t have black or orange right now.
4. Vampires or werewolves?
Either or neither ???
5. Scariest Halloween movie?
Watcher in the woods. I do not watch gore/gross/super scary movies.
A good recommendation that’s not scary-To catch a thief (it’s not a Halloween movie, but it is a Alfred Hitchcock “suspense/thriller”)
1. Last Halloween costume you wore? Last Halloween we dressed as characters from Stranger Things…I was Chrissy. We also wore the costumes to a few Comic Cons.
2. Best and worst Halloween candy? Best: Almond Joy or Heath Worst: Sour Patch Kids
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black? Black
4. Vampires or werewolves? I’m going with Vampires. I loved the True Blood series.
5. Scariest Halloween movie? We watch them all during the fall…but I’m going with Freddy being the scariest. He can get you in your sleep!
1. Last Halloween costume you wore?
Amy Sedaris’s character from the Mandalorian
2. Best and worst Halloween candy?
I always grab some of the Twix bars from my son’s haul; not a fan of red vines
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black? A warm orange hue
4. Vampires or werewolves? Vampires
5. Scariest Halloween movie? My husband and I have been having a horror movie marathon all month- I think the one that’s stuck with me the longest is The Witch
1. Last Halloween costume you wore? My husband wore his great grandfather’sWorld War 1 soldier’s uniform (they were known as “doughboys” dressed like that). He asked me to wear something “that would pair with that”. I put on white sweats, a red neck bandana, an oven mitt, and a chef’s hat – yup – I was the PILLSBURY DOUGHBOY.
2. Best and worst Halloween candy? Best – Reese’s peanut butter cups – worst, black licorice anything.
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black? Orange
4. Vampires or werewolves? Werewolves.
5. Scariest Halloween movie? The original Halloween.
1. Last Halloween costume you wore? Hula dancer – I was 17 and back then there were El Ninos and you could still go to the beach in November, so I just bought a grass skirt and a plastic lei and called it a day. Super fun but do not miss dressing up.
2. Best and worst Halloween candy? – Seasonal Peeps (stale) are good and so is candy corn. I hate black licorice.
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black? Black!
4. Vampires or werewolves? Vamps!
5. Scariest Halloween movie? I don’t do scary so I wouldn’t know, but I am wimpy and they probably are all scary.
1. Last Halloween costume you wore?
Never really ever wore a Halloween costume. Didn’t grow up celebrating Halloween, so…
2. Best and worst Halloween candy?
Best is any sugary candy like Skittles. Have been off chocolate for a while.
3. Pick your Halloween nail color – orange or black?
Definitely black.
4. Vampires or werewolves?
I understand vampires are more sexier and charming but unfortunately way too evil for me. So werewolves it is.
5. Scariest Halloween movie?
I used to like Nightmare Before Christmas but that movie may have actually given me some nightmares. I don’t watch it anymore.
Take care, Happy Halloween! 🤡
