So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. How late do you stay up at night?
If it’s all working out to plan, then I’ll be asleep by 9:30. Typically, though, I’m asleep between 10-11. And if I’ve got insomnia, then I’ll see you at the witching hour, ha!
2. Last photo you took?
Connor and I were at Nordstrom Rack yesterday to look for a dress for the father-daughter dance, and we saw a very colorful men’s t-shirt with a swimming white tiger swimming. It had sequins on it, too! I couldn’t help but take a picture of it because it make me chuckle.
3. What’s your scent of the day?
Wearing an old fave today, Dolce & Gabanna The One.
4. Are you a person who likes to snack throughout the day?
Not really; my body wants to eat three meals. The only thing, though, is when I get hungry, it hits REALLY hard, so I’ve been trying to mitigate that by eating snacks at 10 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. So I guess I’m trying to become a snacker?
5. Pick one: try a new dish or stick to something you know you like?
Try a new dish!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

1. How late do you stay up at night? I like to be in bed before 10… usually asleep around 11:30ish
2. Last photo you took? A bunch of photos yesterday in the snow…my husband and I played with the kiddos
3. What’s your scent of the day? I have some verb ghost oil in my hair…not much of a fragrance person
4. Are you a person who likes to snack throughout the day? Yes. My husband makes his own protein bars…so that has been my snack lately.
5. Pick one: try a new dish or stick to something you know you like? Stick with something I know
That’s so cool that you guys have snow! I’ve never lived in a snowy place and often wonder if it’s fun or a big pain the butt, lol.
When I lived in California as a child, we went into the mountains to play in the deep snow occasionally. It did snow about 1″ twice in the 4 years we lived in the desert, but of course the mountain snow is (or was then) reliably deeper than that. When we went to see the snow, we were in the general Donner’s Pass area, to the best of my recollection.
In the part of Texas I live in, some winters it doesn’t snow at all. We did get a “white Christmas” a few years ago, but it was only about an inch that melted off VERY quickly. In recent years it usually snows at least twice a winter, but it’s often affected by sleet and freezing rain, so it’s not always the best for making snowmen. Also, it takes a LOT of snow to make a 5 to 6 foot snowman. Most of the time our snow is about two inches deep, so that rules out snowmen unless you have a very large lot.
I remember it taking a lot of snow to make a two foot snowman, LOL! 🙂
How funny that you mentioned the desert. I was just talking to a friend the other day about Joshua Tree.
1. How late do you stay up at night?
Typically until 1 or 2AM. I can’t seem to shut it down until midnight. I’ve been a night owl since I was in 5th grade.
2. Last photo you took?
A snap of my tablecloth after it went through the washer. I was very pleased that the tomato soup stain from lunch came out!
3. What’s your scent of the day?
Chloe L’Eau de Parfum Lumineuse. I forgot that a tiny sample of it was in my stash; so far, I’m liking it!
4. Are you a person who likes to snack throughout the day?
Yes. I’m a grazer.
5. Pick one: try a new dish or stick to something you know you like?
Try a new dish.
Did you have to use anything special to take the tomato soup stain out? I learned recently that Dawn dish soap works miracles on food stains on clothes!
Karen, I sprayed the heck out of it with old school Shout and scrubbed it with a toothbrush, then washed it on cold with Persil. Amazingly, the stain disappeared. Had it not, it would’ve gone in the sink with Folex and powdered Oxy-Clean.
I have used Dawn on shirt stains (usually if I’m still wearing the shirt and have a chance to run to the sink and attack the stain). 🌺
1. How late do you stay up at night? Usually about 1:30 AM, which I know is bad for me, but I still work and kind of resent the fact that I don’t get much “me” time when I have to put in 8.5 hours a day into work (that’s 9.5 hours when I have to commute). I also have a hard time falling asleep most of the time – and staying asleep more than 3 hours at a time seems to be impossible now.
2. Last photo you took? Pictures of the snow and sleet that fell a few days ago. I like to document it that way so I can verify when it snowed and how much we got.
3. What’s your scent of the day? Nothing today, but most of the time I wear “My Queen” by Alexander McQueen. I’m starting to run low on this and I won’t be able to get another bottle when I run out as it’s discontinued. Such a shame that it wasn’t popular – the bottle is beautiful, and the scent is great.
4. Are you a person who likes to snack throughout the day? Not really. I’m trying to just eat when I’m truly hungry. I also know that potato chips and cookies will make me gain weight, so I try to not keep that in the house. At least with an air fryer I can now make small amounts of tater tots or chicken fingers quickly.
5. Pick one: try a new dish or stick to something you know you like? I’m getting bored with my usual food, so I’d say a new one, but I’d carefully check the ingredients for anything I don’t like. I’ve been using air fryer cookbooks and the cookbooks with recipes designed for one or two people lately.
1. How late do you stay up at night? TV off by 10pm, but then I’m reading until about 11pm. Ish.
2. Last photo you took? My dog looking cozy on the sofa.
3. What’s your scent of the day? Who is Elijah’s Nomad.
4. Are you a person who likes to snack throughout the day? Absolutely!
5. Pick one: try a new dish or stick to something you know you like? Stick to something I know. 99% of the time I’ve burned myself when not getting my usual.
Everyone who I know has an air fryer loves it! I want to get a small one for our counter but haven’t had the time to do the research.
I’m not sure that I’d recommend the one I have, which is a very small capacity Chefman model. It really only cooks one or two servings at a time. Don’t be fooled by those ad photos that show the basket crammed to overflowing with food – you aren’t supposed to use them that way. The instructions on frozen food bags almost always say to put one layer of food in the basket. I do use it a lot – because it works better than a microwave for fried-type foods. It serves my purposes, I guess, but I just noticed it has one of those California warning stickers on the bottom😟. Some of the larger ones can do a lot of different things, and are big enough to cook a frozen pizza in. I’d recommend getting Consumer Reports’ latest issue that covers air fryers.
Thanks! For a family of three, we don’t need a large capacity one. Plus I’m trying to find one that doesn’t take up too much counter space. I want it mostly to cook the Just Bare chicken nuggets I get from Costco, LOL!
1. How late do you stay up at night? Left to my own devices midnight to 1 a.m. With my husband and daughter I usually try to go to sleep about 30 minutes after they do at 9:30 to 10.
2. Last photo you took? A sign of a new Japanese restaurant hopefully opening soon nearby. Unfortunately, it’s in a bad luck spot where the last three eateries in that spot closed soon after opening. Sigh.
3. What’s your scent of the day? Dior Bois d’Argent. I used to have a bottle of D&G The One. Thanks for reminding me, because I found an unlabeled decant in my collection the other day. I wore it but couldn’t remember what scent it was. But ding, ding, ding it’s definitely D&G The One. Running to put a label on it now.
4. Are you a person who likes to snack throughout the day? Yes and it’s not good. When I spent a long weekend taking care of Dear Daughter I ate two to three meals without snacking and I lost weight. I constantly think about food and it drives me batty.
5. Pick one: try a new dish or stick to something you know you like? Definitely try something new. Whether it’s cooking at home or going out to eat. There’s a Korean restaurant we started to going to frequently. My husband orders the same one or two things all the time. I’m on a mission to try every last thing on their menu.
Hi Tatiana,
LOL, I’m constantly thinking about food, too! You’re not alone. 🙂
