So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Pick one: colorful shoes or a colorful sweater?
Let’s go with the colorful shoes. Life is too short for boring footwear!
2. Which would you rather never have to deal with again: nosy neighbors, parallel parking, burnt food or washing your makeup brushes?
Once, I caught a neighbor going through our trash. So I could do without the nosy neighbors, LOL!
3. Have you ever crimped your hair?
Yes, but sadly, I never got to do it in the ‘80s (I was too young and missed all the cool stuff).
4. Who does the grocery shopping in your household?
Mostly me, but El Hub will do it if he has extra time and/or if I’m busy with Connor doing extracurriculars.
5. Liquid liner: yes or no?
One hundred percent yes! Ideally it’s a pen with a flexible fine tip.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

1. Pick one: colorful shoes or a colorful sweater? Shoes!
2. Which would you rather never have to deal with again: nosy neighbors, parallel parking, burnt food or washing your makeup brushes? Nosy neighbors. That’s just bad vibes all around. Who needs that?
3. Have you ever crimped your hair? Yes, I am a child of the 80s. I just did it by braiding though.
4. Who does the grocery shopping in your household? We each do our own. We have separate checking accounts and I eat far less than my partner.
1. Pick one: colorful shoes or a colorful sweater? Sweater – I have extra extra wide feet . Most shoes that fit look like something Micky Mouse would wear. So I don’t draw attention to my shoes.
2. Which would you rather never have to deal with again: nosy neighbors, parallel parking, burnt food or washing your makeup brushes? Neighbors – we are lucky – we have seniors on both sides who are super nice, quiet, and share their garden veggies for homemade bread. But I’ve had neighbors from hell before I moved here.
3. Have you ever crimped your hair? No. It’s wavy, add crimping to that and it would NOT be pretty.
4. Who does the grocery shopping in your household? I do all of it, Husband makes all veterinary appt visits with the dog or to pick up dog meds if I forgot to order them online.
1. Pick one: colorful shoes or a colorful sweater? Back in the day, we used to buy white high heels (peau de soie or satin) and have them custom died to match our dresses. Once that fashion passed, I returned to neutral shoes and have worn neutrals ever since. As for sweaters, that’s a different story. I’ve always loved jewel toned sweaters. My sweater shelves look like a rainbow 🌈
2. Which would you rather never have to deal with again: nosy neighbors, parallel parking, burnt food or washing your makeup brushes? My husband and I are sociable, but private. Our business is our business. We both dislike nosiness.
3. Have you ever crimped your hair? No. My hair is pin straight.
4. Who does the grocery shopping in your household? I do the bulk of it, but my husband buys a lot of Middle Eastern savory specialties from an Armenian bakery near his offices.
1. Pick one: colorful shoes or a colorful sweater? Either. I have plenty of both.
2. Which would you rather never have to deal with again: nosy neighbors, parallel parking, burnt food or washing your makeup brushes? I first read that as “noisy” neighbors. But yeah, I’d rather not deal with bothersome neighbors again. I have one who uses a leaf blower for 3 to 4 hours a day, several times a week. He’s blown away my mulch at least three times. Not to mention how filthy my car is on only one side because of his blowing. Sigh. And the high pitched noise from that machine is the worst.
3. Have you ever crimped your hair? No
4. Who does the grocery shopping in your household? I do. Husband only does it if I’m in a pinch and I give him photos of what I want and how far down what aisle the item is.
5. Liquid eyeliner: yes or no? No. Give me a creamy pencil that I can smudge at first then sets, any day.
1. Pick one: colorful shoes or a colorful sweater?
Sweater. It’s hard for me to find colorful shoes as I have to wear a wide-width shoe. I already have a couple of colorful cardigans. I used to have some loafers with a lot of different colors on them, but I only bought them because they were a really good price from a good brand. It was a rare find.
2. Which would you rather never have to deal with again: nosy neighbors, parallel parking, burnt food or washing your makeup brushes?
I’ve already put parallel parking into that category. After all the stress about passing that part of the drivers’ license test*, I have literally NEVER needed to be able to parallel park. When I have to go downtown I take mass transit, and downtown is pretty much the only place I’d need that skill.
*I had to drive a really big Oldsmobile sedan in those days – my parents’ car.
3. Have you ever crimped your hair?
No. I thought about it when they came out with those crimpers in the ’80s but decided against it. I was working at that time, and only one person at my office ever showed up with her hair crimped. It didn’t look good, and she never did it again in the time we worked together. I can tell you that adults didn’t really go for that look in my area.
4. Who does the grocery shopping in your household? Me, as it’s a one-person household.
5. Liquid eyeliner, yes or no?
I’m still trying to do it, but I think what’s best for me is powder liner on an eyeshadow brush.
