So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. What would you rather do on a rainy day: go to the movies with a friend, cozy up at home with a good book and a cup of tea, or go on an adventurous and fun (and very wet) hike?
Right now movies with a friend sounds like it would be fun! Of course we’d have to have all the snacks – popcorn, M&Ms and bubbly water.
2. What game show would you absolutely dominate: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy or The Price Is Right?
I’d have the best chances at The Price Is Right. Can’t say I’d dominate it, though. Hahaha!
3. Do you wear more makeup now or less makeup than you did a year ago?
I wear a little less these days, but that’s mostly because of time constraints. I miss having a good 15 or 20 minutes to paint my face. Now I just kinda slap it on and hope for the best.
4. How’s your mental health these days?
I feel steadier than I’ve felt in a while, and I think I’m finally reaching the point where I can push myself to do a little more. Last year really kicked my butt (long story short, I had a health scare, and now things are better), and it’s been taking a long time to recover from living with that fear for over a year.
5. ‘80s colorful mascara or ‘80s style bold blush?
Um, both? They’re both so fun. I obvs wouldn’t rock it to work. Well, maybe I would. 🙂

Movie, if there was anything good playing. Most movies today are not of interest to me – not interested in superhero movies or “weird for the sake of weird” movies. Not interested in rom-coms featuring people over 50 still thinking they’re fooling people into thinking they are about 32. (This is why you don’t see Jennifer Aniston or Jennifer Lopez anymore – that was their world but it’s just too late now.) So I’d probably end up reading a book.

Probably Jeopardy because I have a wide-ranging knowledge base.

About the same. I’m too lazy to apply it often, and even if I did it perfectly no one would care or even notice,’
4. How’s your mental health these days?
I’ve been under tremendous stress my whole life, and it only got worse since 2016 (I think you can guess why). Also, I was caregiver to my father and mother for years before their deaths in 2018 and 2023, respectively. Plus my own cancer diagnosis in 2017. I’ve just about lost hope of ever being “happy.” As Paul Simon said in a song, “a good day ain’t got no rain; a bad day’s when I lie in bed and think of things that might have been.” It’s a testament to my low expectations of life that I’m even still alive right now.
5. ‘80s colorful mascara or ‘80s style bold blush? Probably mascara. Intense blush makes the wearer look like they’re crazy or have bad eyesight and don’t realize they resemble a clown.
I’m sorry it’s been so hard for you, CL. Hang in there. Sometimes just getting through the day is an accomplishment in itself.

With my anxiety, I don’t know about dominate, lol, but I could probably hold my own on Jeopardy.

2. What game show would you absolutely dominate: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy or The Price Is Right? The Price is Right. I tried out for Jeopardy and didn’t make it past the first round.
3. Do you wear more makeup now or less makeup than you did a year ago? About the same (very little). I wasn’t very regular with it before the pandemic and since I still mask, I would probably only do my eyes.
4. How’s your mental health these days? Not great, but not getting worse. I distract myself from politics with work and work with politics. It’s like the Simpsons doorway with all the diseases blocking each other so nothing gets through.
5. ‘80s colorful mascara or ‘80s style bold blush? Mascara for sure. I don’t think I’ve ever worn blush in my life.
Wow, that’s cool that you tried out for Jeopardy! I don’t think I’d have the guts to even try out.

2. What game show would you absolutely dominate: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy or The Price Is Right? I think I’d love Wheel of Fortune because I probably would forget to phrase my answer in a question format in Jeopardy although I might know the answer.

4. How’s your mental health these days? I’m choosing me more often so I think it’s better although it might feel really bad at times (the guilt!).
5. ‘80s colorful mascara or ‘80s style bold blush? Colorful mascara although I’m not sure how much you can see it on my black lashes. I still love it!

2. What game show would you absolutely dominate: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy or The Price Is Right? Jeopardy. Unless they have a category of “name ladie’s pants for work brands that fit”.
3. Do you wear more makeup now or less makeup than you did a year ago? MUCH less, I finally have skin that can go foundation free (Granola Mama skincare is working great for me – from southern CA).
4. How’s your mental health these days? Strong – I gave up caffiene and alcohol (except a big cup of Kona coffee on Monday mornings, and am sleeping so much better, makes my mental state so much more calm and focused)
5. ‘80s colorful mascara or ‘80s style bold blush? Mascara – with rosy Celtic cheeks I don’t do blush or I look like a clown.
Bravo for quitting caffeine! I did it once in my 20s but now there’s NO WAY, lol!
