So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately?
Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara (eh, it’s just OK), Stila Liquid Liner Micro Tip (it’s pretty good) and good ol’ Anastasia Brow Pencil.
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well?
I used to be OK at it, but now, I don’t really enjoy in-person shopping as much as I used to, so I don’t spend the time that one really needs to find the things that fit great. There’s always something a little off with my clothes and I just kinda live with it. Blergh! On the bright side, at least my outfit is always ironed and somewhat matching.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases?
Pretty good!
4. Where do you usually have lunch?
At my house. I work close by, so I can easily pop in for a quick bite. Honestly, I just like going home so I can take off my shoes. FOOT FREEDOM!
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without?
Generally I tend to stay away from it. Super boring, I know… I need more disco in my life!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately? MAC Costa Riche and Maybelline Lash Sensational
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well? Meh😐. Depends on the day and the item and my mood🤪
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases? I have improved with this, but I love beauty products ❤️. Lately…the prices have increased so much, it’s alot easier to say no.
4. Where do you usually have lunch? I usually eat at my desk at work…I use my lunch hour to go home and let the dogs out
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without? Shimmer
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately?
Rare Beauty mascara and UD Naked2 Basics. For fun, I’ve been liking GXVE by Gwen Stephani’s Paint It Up cream eyeshadows in the shimmer finish. They’re very subtle. (The matte finish didn’t work for me.)
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well?
Decent, but it’s nearly a full-time job.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases?
So-s0.
4. Where do you usually have lunch?
At home. My mom and I do try to include a by-weekly brunch in our schedules.
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without?
Without.
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately? Doir Quads (well, they have a 5th color in the center – so I guess they’re technically not Quads) but love the Dior shadows. There are a lot of shimmers in there, but they’re very subtle.
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well? I’m full-busted with “booty” but not overweight – so why do clothes designers think that because of my bust or rear, I’m somehow 6 foot 4 inches tall with really long arms. I get tired of having to roll up my blouse sleeves or having a waist on my jeans that’s WAY too big if it’s going to fit me in the hips.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases? If beauty products – NOT good at all.
4. Where do you usually have lunch? Home—honestly, if I’m teleworking, I just have a KaChava shake and an apple most days.
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without? Without it, if I can find it.
My mother always felt her long-sleeved blouses indicated her arms were too short. She would roll up her sleeves to keep them from partially covering her hands. But I doubt that her arms were short. (A way to check that is to extend one’s arms straight out from the shoulder, and measure from the tip of the longest finger of one hand to the tip of the longest finger of the other. If this matches your height, then your arms are the “proper” length (See Leonardo’s Vitruvian Man image).) The clothing industry has been messed-up for a long time. I’ve had to hem my pants most of the time, because they seem to think “average” height in the US is 5 ft. 8 inches. I’m about 5 ft. 5 in.
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately?
Loreal Brow Lamination, Nars eyeshadow in adult
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well?
I am decent at it, it takes a lot time, ordering multiple items and then returning it.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases?
I am just alrite, depends on my mood
4. Where do you usually have lunch?
If working from home at home else at work
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without?
without, it is more versatile I feel
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately?
Lately I’ve been liking Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift, Revlon Brow Fantasy, and Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner.
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well?
I’m not always great at finding clothes that fit. Especially if I order online. It is hit or miss.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases?
I’d say I’m pretty good at resisting impulse purchases.
4. Where do you usually have lunch?
I usually have dinner leftovers at home.
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without?
It depends on what I feel on that day. 🙂
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately?
Not much, other than UD eyeshadow primer. I’m going through old samples and stuff that had been unused, to cull stuff because I’ll have to move.
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well? Well, I’ve almost always had to compromise at least a little on fit. I think for most people the only way to get near-perfect fit in clothes is to have everything custom-made, or make it yourself if you’re skilled with a sewing machine. But I never pull that trick of ordering 3 sizes in an item and returning the ones that don’t fit just because they offer free returns.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases? Pretty good. Though I find if I have a gift card in-hand I’ll probably use it sooner than I would have used my own money.
4. Where do you usually have lunch? At work because they discontinued the work-at-home program (though lawsuits might reinstate that). I heat frozen food in the microwave and take it to my desk, because the cafeteria no longer exists (they did away with it BEFORE the pandemic). 1/2 hour for lunch is not enough to eat at a restaurant; you can barely drive to the closest fast-food place and back in 1/2 hour, without even getting to eat your food.
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without? Without.
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately?
I’ve been skipping everything lately. Missing my eyeshadows ❤️
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well?
Not bad. Frankly at this point I’m mostly wearing athleisure so I just get something short with stretch. Sometimes I will order two of the same item to see which fits better, and return the dud.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases?
No good at alllll. I need that spark of joy in my days.
4. Where do you usually have lunch?
At home, with my dad.
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without?
A little shimmer.
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately? Just brow gel and an eyelash curler for now. I’ve been using the NYX, but on the switch away from Amazon, I’m trying the clear Cover Girl gel.
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well? OK at this point, but it’s a lot of trial and error and being willing to return anything that can’t be easily altered.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases? Very good, probably too good. I almost never splurge. I did recently, replacing my dying hair dryer with a Laifen. Of course the damn thing doesn’t even turn on and returning it is turning out to be a real bitch. Never again.
4. Where do you usually have lunch? Since the pandemic, at my desk/in my office.
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without? At this point, without. I used to wear some shimmer eyeshadows but my lids are way too crepey for it at this point.
This week almost got away from me, but better late than never.
1. What eye makeup products have been on repeat with you lately? I like to mix things up, but something I’ve worm on repeat this week has been Chanel’s Futura quad.
2. How good are you about finding clothes that fit you well? Terrible! I’m short legged and long waisted.
3. How good are you about resisting impulse purchases? Very good. At my age it’s not about acquiring more stuff. I can enjoy looking at beautiful things without needing to buy them—unless I’m in the mood to treat myself or someone else.
4. Where do you usually have lunch? I eat at home most of the time.
5. Pick one: with shimmer or without? I love a soft shimmer.
