So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Do you keep backups of your favorite products?
These days, the only backups I buy are things I know I’ll finish on a regular basis (like shampoo and conditioner, or body lotion). I don’t even bother with makeup backups anymore, though. If I finish something like a blush or an eyebrow pencil, great, and if it’s still around when it’s time to restock, that’s even better. If it’s discontinued, I might mourn it a little bit, but there’s always something new coming out, and I don’t mind trying new things, so I don’t stress about it too much.
2. Something that you read/watched/listened to recently that was surprisingly great?
I watched “KPop Demon Hunters” on Netflix with Connor over the weekend, and I was surprised to enjoy it as much as I did. If you liked “Jem and the Holograms” back in the day, I think you’ll enjoy this movie, too.
3. Something beauty-related that you want to try?
The new tinted SPF by Merit seems intriguing!
4. Documentaries or TV shows about serial killers: yes or no?
Nope! Hard pass.
5. Something that you’re relieved to finally have gotten done?
GIRL. I finally did my nails. You don’t even want to know how tragic my pedicure has been for the last three weeks! But now everything is freshly polished and nice, and all is well with the world.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Here are the questions to copy/paste with your answers in a comment. Talk to ya soon.
1. Do you keep backups of your favorite products?
2. Something that you read/watched/listened to recently that was surprisingly great?
3. Something beauty-related that you want to try?
4. Documentaries or TV shows about serial killers: yes or no?
5. Something that you’re relieved to finally have gotten done?

1. Do you keep backups of your favorite products? Only sunscreen. And that’s because I go through a lot of it and I’m fickle about the formula. So every time Dear Husband goes to Japan for work I calculate how many tubes I’ll need to last until the next trip.
2. Something that you read/watched/listened to recently that was surprisingly great? We recently watched Department Q on Netflix. Parts of it were hard to watch, but I really loved the dialog and the bristly character DCI Morck.
3. Something beauty-related that you want to try? Can’t think of anything right now.
4. Documentaries or TV shows about serial killers: yes or no? Not really, sorta? As long as I can leave the room while Dear Husband fast forwards over any intense scenes, I’m ok.
5. Something that you’re relieved to finally have gotten done? I’m supposed to be getting things done? Lol.
1. Do you keep backups of your favorite products?
Very rarely. I have bought a second eyeshadow palette when it was greatly discounted, and I knew it was being discontinued.
2. Something that you read/watched/listened to recently that was surprisingly great?
Can’t think of anything recent. I truly spend too much time on the internet instead of reading books, and I don’t spend money on Netflix or any other streaming services.
3. Something beauty-related that you want to try?
PatMcgrath Mothership Rose Palette. The price just keeps me away and it’s never discounted enough.
4. Documentaries or TV shows about serial killers: yes or no?
Rarely. At my age I’ve seen about enough true crime stories. And since I live alone, watching them only makes it that much harder to sleep at night.
5. Something that you’re relieved to finally have gotten done?
I guess buying a new washer and dryer, but that was a few months ago. Nothing more recently. I am CONSTANTLY juggling a million things, and I don’t even have kids, grandkids, or pets! Right now I have a plumbing and A/C problem to deal with. Cheap, crappy building was responsible for this. NEVER, never, buy a tract house in TX (building standards are crap), especially one older than 30 years old.
1. Do you keep backups of your favorite products? I keep back-ups of shampoo, conditioner, & lotion. I also keep extras of makeup products that I use daily (foundation, eyeliner & mascara). I quit buying back-ups of lipsticks, blush, and eye shadows.
2. Something that you read/watched/listened to recently that was surprisingly great? I have been watching Young Sheldon. I usually hate spin-offs…but this show is really funny (if you loved The Big Bang Theory).
3. Something beauty-related that you want to try? Lip stains….I have not used any in a very long time and there are so many new options.
4. Documentaries or TV shows about serial killers: yes or no? Creepy….but yes!
5. Something that you’re relieved to finally have gotten done? My busy season at work🤪. And by Friday we will have finalized our land purchase….I will be super relieved to have that finished.
1. Do you keep backups of your favorite products? Yes, I’ve been using a line from Granola Mama in So. California that I just LOVE. She makes everything fresh, but just in case something is out of stock for a few days, I always have a backup of my favs, the Bare Bontical Tallow Oil (smells like vanilla and cardomom), Chamomile Bliss Vitamin C Cream, and their rose mist and mask.
2. Something that you read/watched/listened to recently that was surprisingly great? Not surprising that it was great, the author is gifted, but rather, how much it resonated with me – the book Daylight Saving Time – the Power of Growing Older by David W. Berner.
3. Something beauty-related that you want to try? 5 Sens fragrance collection.
4. Documentaries or TV shows about serial killers: yes or no? Yes, I was a dual major through my doctorate – criminal justice and forensic anthropology. Criminal psychology has always been fascinating to me.
5. Something that you’re relieved to finally have gotten done? My social security stuff – finally got my first check post retirement (and happy I saved and invested for the last 30 years because, I would NOT want to have to live on this amount alone).
