So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Something on your nightstand?
A big ol’ stack of books that are about to fall over, LOL!
2. Something funny your pet does?
If Marnie likes you and walks past you, she’ll quickly lick your knee or your leg if you’re wearing shorts or a dress. We call it “drive-by lickies.”
3. Something you’d like to do today?
Cook some late summer veggies that I’ve had since Tuesday. I wish all those lovely string beans, squash and zucchini would saute themselves in olive oil and a little salt, but alas, that’s not happening.
4. Something you’re trying to let go of?
UGH, the clutter. I always think to myself, “I might need this someday,” but honestly, 99 percent of the time, I don’t even use whatever I was hoarding.
5. Something you absolutely love?
That feeling after a good eight hours of sleep! My body wakes up on its own, and I don’t have that tired feeling in my eyes. Love, love, love it.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

1. Something on your nightstand?
My trusty sleep mask.
2. Something funny your pet does?
Rosie has to sniff every package that comes in the house like she’s a bomb-sniffing dog at the airport.
3. Something you’d like to do today?
Sit and read quietly for a few minutes.
4. Something you’re trying to let go of?
Having so many clothes. Most of them don’t fit my lifestyle any more.
5. Something you absolutely love?
That first day when you go outside and, while it might not actually be cooler weather, it finally feels like summer might not last for all eternity.
1. Something on your nightstand?
A combination digital clock, calendar, thermometer, humidity meter, and alarm clock that resets itself automatically using the “atomic clock.”
2. Something funny your pet does?
I don’t have a pet at the moment. My late Sheltie would occasionally vocalize in a way known to Sheltie owners – not a bark, not a whine, just a sound to try to communicate. Neither my Sheltie nor my Collie were lickers.
3. Something you’d like to do today?
Plant my periwinkles in larger pots. They’ll be blooming into November, probably, if we have no really cold weather in Oct. (and we usually don’t).
4. Something you’re trying to let go of?
A lot of stuff my parents owned that isn’t of any great value now.
5. Something you absolutely love?
I’d love to get that 8 hours of sleep. Enjoy it while you can; as you get older, sleep becomes more fragmented, and it’s even worse if you develop aches and pains from aging. Right now I’d say, like Suzanne C. above, the first day it really feels like fall. That will probably be around Oct. 28th around here. That would be a day when it’s lower than 75 degrees, and the humidity is low. Humidity is the bane of my existence – I could never live in Florida because of that. North Texas is bad enough.
1. Something on your nightstand? My kindle and my glasses
2. Something funny your pet does? I have two labradoodles. Ollie likes to show everyone his stuffed animals. He prances around with them in his mouth. Barry will keep knocking your arm with his nose if you ignore any of his requests (belly rub, walk, treat).
3. Something you’d like to do today? Dry & straighten my hair tonight
4. Something you’re trying to let go of? Stress & anxiety 🤪
5. Something you absolutely love? Halloween 🎃. Decorations were up September 1st.
1. Something on your nightstand?
Hand cream and foot cream.
2. Something funny your pet does?
Felix will fish an ice cube out of his water bowl if you put one in there for him!
3. Something you’d like to do today?
Chop up some fresh garden tomatoes for fresh salsa and bruschetta.
4. Something you’re trying to let go of?
I agree about the clutter! Feels so good to get rid of it, but why is it so hard to do?!
5. Something you absolutely love?
Like you said, lots of sleep!
