So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Are you dressing up for Halloween this year?
All signs point to no at this point (haven’t really thought about it), but sometimes I manage to rally at the last minute to put something together, so you never know. I might default to my go-to, which is a makeup artist, if I’m feeling spunky!
2. A makeup look that you come back to over and over again?
Red matte lips and skinny black cat eyeliner, for sure. Never gets old!
3. When was a period in your life when you spent a lot of time on your hair?
The late ‘90s and early 2000s. Stick straight hair was the thing, so I was fighting my natural texture every day. Now that I think about it, I can’t believe I had that much patience to wrangle my hair into place!
4. Pumpkin carving: lots of fun or unnecessarily messy?
How about a little bit of both? Mostly lots of fun, though. I don’t mind the mess!
5. Best/worst Halloween candy?
Best are Albanese Gummy Bears (so good). Worst? Swedish Fish.

1. Are you dressing up for Halloween this year?
No, because I’m alone and I won’t open the door to trick-or-treaters when I’m by myself. (This is an area in which 6 ft. tall boys go trick-or-treating, which is something that would not have been looked kindly on when I was 11 years old).
2. A makeup look that you come back to over and over again?
Tinted moisturizer, powder, blush, and mascara. Simple and fairly natural-looking.
3. When was a period in your life when you spent a lot of time on your hair?
Not really. My hair was very thick and naturally wavy from the age of 12 to about 55. Believe it or not, in the 1970s conditioners were TERRIBLE. I had to go without conditioner to keep my hair from looking & feeling greasy. I hated hair dryers because of the noise and the heat. Hair straightening wasn’t much of a thing when I was in school. There were predominate 3 styles in my high school: Dorothy Hamill short (not common), long and naturally straight, and long and naturally wavy. Sometimes people used curling irons to enhance the wave.
4. Pumpkin carving: lots of fun or unnecessarily messy?
Fun if you’re using a fake pumpkin – no wet mess to deal with and you don’t have the problem of it shriveling and rotting on you. Plus you can use it again next year.
5. Best/worst Halloween candy?
Best – Caramello. Worst- Butterfinger. I’ve NEVER understood the popularity of Butterfinger.
1. Are you dressing up for Halloween this year?
I might wear a bat hoodie I got at CVS. It’s pretty cute.
2. A makeup look that you come back to over and over again?
Tinted sunscreen, powder foundation, mascara, lip gloss.
3. When was a period in your life when you spent a lot of time on your hair?
My teens and early 20s were full of attempts to make my hair do stuff it just didn’t want to do. Some experiments included Sun-In and a crimper.
4. Pumpkin carving: lots of fun or unnecessarily messy?
Better for someone else. I can’t tolerate my hands getting sticky.
5. Best/worst Halloween candy?
Best: Goldenberg Peanut Chews, when they’re fresh.
Worst: Anyone remember Mary Jane candy? Ugh, they were always hard as a rock and about as flavorful.
1. Are you dressing up for Halloween this year? No, but I always wear black and I have a long black and orange scarf that I drape around my neck.
2. A makeup look that you come back to over and over again? Emphasis on the eyes with a subtle cheek and lip. I used to try to copy Jean Shrimpton’s makeup. Nowadays, I do an updated version.
3. When was a period in your life when you spent a lot of time on your hair? It was the early 60’s: Curlers, setting gel, hairspray, and hair pieces. What a production!
4. Pumpkin carving: lots of fun or unnecessarily messy? It’s fun, but my arthritic hands can’t handle it anymore.
5. Best/worst Halloween candy? Best is Snickers. Worst is Smartees.
1. Are you dressing up for Halloween this year? I may just wear a witch hat and a witchy shirt with a little extra fun makeup. I love going all out on my eyes for Halloween.
2. A makeup look that you come back to over and over again? I don’t know. I guess I do the same look everyday and just swap out different shades.
3. When was a period in your life when you spent a lot of time on your hair? When I straightened my hair everyday. My hair is thick and wavy….it does not like being tamed🤣
4. Pumpkin carving: lots of fun or unnecessarily messy? Messy….I like fake pumpkins.
5. Best/worst Halloween candy? Worst: Any sour candy Best: Almond Joy (I love coconut)
Love the pictures of Marnie & Rosie for Halloween. And Tabs❤️.
