You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.

Yes, please!But seriously, warm most of the time, in particular warm-toned golden and reddish browns, yum!
I mean, I won’t say no to a sparkly cool-toned taupe, though. Not ever.

Food and kittens. Of course. 🙂A baguette, a wedge of brie, sunscreen, water and a trio of well-behaved kittens wearing Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses (because this is my answer we’re talking about here, and crazy cat lady talk is totally acceptable).

Why do I keep coming up with these “or” questions? They’re just so cruel…Mint, I guess. I’m mad about mint at the moment. Mint shoes, clothes, accessories, nail polish…
- One thing that makes you happy?
The green Zella sweatshirt up there at the top of this post.OK, so, one of the many Liz Lemon-esque things I do (shout-out to the 30 Rock fans!) is fall asleep with that sweatshirt next to me on the bed, because that way if I’m cold when I wake up the next morning — and I’m always cold in the mornings — the sweatshirt is already warm from my body heat, and I don’t have to venture beyond the covers to grab it.
I just roll over, slip my arms into it, zip it up and bam! — instant warmth.
Tabs likes it, too. It’s one of his favorite places to sleep (on top of the sweatshirt) during the day…so I guess it’s our sweatshirt now.

Hey, friend!
It’s back to the grind again today. You know what, though? I feel pretty good, despite the technical difficulties we experienced this morning (the blog had bad gas).
I think it’s because of how much I’m enjoying that 100 Happy Days challenge I started doing last week.
I mean, I realize that over the course of 100 days (here’s more info about it on their website), chances are good that I won’t be giddy with joyous happiness every single day, but even when I wake up feeling kind of blah — like I did yesterday, when I got up tired and anxious about the coming week — the minute it takes to snap a quick pic of something fun/uplifting with my phone and sharing it helps. And then when you do it over and over for days and see a record of those fun/uplifting moments, it helps even more.
Try it! Snap a pic, share it on Instagram or something, or perhaps write it down on a Post-it, and add that same hashtag to it, #100happydays. I think it’s just the act of doing something fun and frivolous like this over and over that works like a powerful mood booster.

They are a pair of pink flats I’ve had for a couple of years. I love ’em because they’re very comfortable! I’ll have to post a pic, b/c I found Ella cuddling with them. Like me, she’s a shoe lover. 🙂

Did you do any shopping over the weekend? I went to Old Navy and picked up some cute tanks for $6 a pop!
Oh yeah, Ella’s all about the stinky shoes. 🙂 She acts like they’re covered in catnip! I only did grocery shopping this weekend, no fun shopping. I’ve been meaning to check out Old Navy and Target for some casual summer stuff. They usually have cute stuff at good prices.
Does she every hang out in sock drawers? We purposefully leave ours open so Tabs can hang out in there if he wants. He never wants to stay in mine though. He’s all about stinky boy socks!
So I’m with you on Old Navy and Target for fun summer clothes. I figure they’re just going to get all sweaty and dirty anyways so might as well not spend too much! I’m all about stuff on sale at Old Navy. 🙂
Sometimes if I leave a drawer open, she’ll hop in, but I think she prefers dirty clothes! When I’m sorting laundry, I can usually find her laying in a pile of clothes. She also loves plastic and paper bags. If I leave either of those on the ground, she’s guaranteed to plop down and claim it for her own!
Nina loves paper bags too. I bought a cat bed, but no one would use it. Then I put a paper bag in there and now Nina will sleep in it. Cats are so funny!
How funny! I read somewhere that cats enjoy different textures, which is why they like to lay down on bags and papers and whatnot.
I’ll have to try putting a paper bag in the next cubby I make for Tabs. That’s a genius idea! 😀
Ah, that’s interesting! Mingy’s favorite textures seem to be grass and dirt. He loves rolling around outside. Ella also loves to crawl inside paper bags. I would love to see some pics of Tabs in his bag fort. 🙂
Awww, Mingy is a nature boy through and through. I can see him rollin’ around in his leash in the dirt, and perhaps flashing some tum, aww!
Next time I build a box/bag fort for him I’ll keep the camera nearby. You know he’s always ready to strike a pose.

My Chen wasn’t a rescue, but I wasn’t looking for him when he found me. He’s changed everything. He’s the gentlest, most loving creature I’ve ever been around – and he always brings a smile and makes me laugh. BTW, I love that pic that cycles through up at the top with Tab lying on your chest. Isn’t kitty love the best?

Aww, and thank you re: the pic at the top. Tabs is quite the loverboy, believe it or not. He loves to crawl on my chest or in my lap and just hang out and purr. When he was a younger cat, he’d sit on my lap for hours as I wrote. I can’t believe he’s turning 8…the time goes by so fast!

1. Cool- or warm-toned eyeshadows? Cool toned for sure 🙂 Since I am approximately the colour of a cool-toned sheet of paper, really warm shades tend to look odd, especially if they’re ‘neutrals’ like browns or golds. They make nice accents though!
2. We’re going for a bike ride down to the beach. What’s in your bike basket? A picnic blanket, fish and chips (I am a Kiwi, after all), and a bag for collecting sea glass and interesting (empty) shells.

My cat Jack. He’s a domestic long hair, and he’s probably the best friend I have (even if he did finally lose his temper and growl at me last night to make me stop baby talking to him). He’s named after an uncle who passed away from cancer a couple of years back – the story goes that my aunt always told my uncle that after he passed, she would get a cat and name it after him (he disliked cats). Unfortunately, she moved into a place that didn’t allow pets, so I said I’d do it. Best decision ever.
