In a pinch, your face wash doubles as a brush cleanser!
I’ve been wearing makeup and cleaning brushes for a bazillion years and just figured this out, like, yesterday, so of course I had to tell ya. I wanted to wash my brushes and didn’t feel like digging through the mountain of boxes in my bedroom, so I tried this with a Korres face wash I had on hand, and it worked like a charm.
I do think this tip does have a small caveat, though. It should probably be a face wash that removes makeup, sunscreen and can cut through oil. I think something foamy is helpful, too, to remove any long-wearing bits and bobs of makeup from your brush bristles. I can’t imagine it working as well with something gentle, creamy and non-foaming, like Cetaphil cleanser, however if you try it and it works, you’ll have to let me know.
Building those muscles, day one
I watched this video about building your happiness muscles a while back, and so I’m trying a new exercise for the next two weeks.
Every day, I make a small note of two things I’m grateful for. No pressure at all to make it too deep, either. It can be as simple as being grateful for the sliced lemons in your water.
Anywho, today I’m grateful for YouTube workouts. It’s kind of mind blowing to push a few buttons and have access to any type of workout at any given time anywhere in the world. Back in the day I’d have to use DVDs, and my workouts would get so repetitive and boring. Not any more!
I’m also grateful for all the old trees in my neighborhood. They’re so beautiful.
If you feel like joining in, please feel free to jot down one or two things in the comments. It can be something as simple as your favorite socks. If it adds richness to your life in some small way, write it down.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Have a great day!

I am grateful for the few nice days we’ve been having since he rainy weekend. I saw an oriole and a blue jay on my walk yesterday. I don’t know what that means to this Yankee fan, but they are beautiful birds. I’ll see what happens on my walk today.
Be well.
I’m grateful for a refreshing trip to visit friends in Florida–we saw an ibis, a sunning turtle, and alligators while canoeing, and I got to talk girl-talk about makeup and flat irons. And for the delicious tacos we just happened across for lunch in Atlanta.
Grateful for Hettie. I love this dog so much. And I got to smell lilacs on our walk today!
Hahahaha there you are spoiling your brushes with the good Korres…all the while I’m using dish soap to get my brushes clean! 🤣 I’m finally back at the gym after over 2 years! It feels so good. I’ve missed it so much! And finally no YouTube ads anymore! I’m just thankful my family and me are all healthy.
I use dish soap too! I read that it’s good because it cuts through grease and grime and it’s inexpensive. Works for me!
If I try a new cleanser for my face and don’t like it, I’ll save it to use for my makeup brushes instead of trashing it.
Grateful for the time I got to spend with my mom this past weekend for Mother’s Day and for the fact that it’s finally supposed to hit 80 in western MA this week.
I make soap, from scratch with lye and oils and other additives like oatmeal, aloe, milk, avocado, etc. It’s fantastic at cleaning brushes and so easy, just rub the brush across the soap and you have bubbles and foam
I’m grateful for my new house, we are here for 6 weeks today. I just joined a new yoga class in my community and it was awesome.
I am thankful for makeup bloggers like you Karen who give me a nice pick me up when I see your blog!
And I am thankful to see have our 15 year old Greyhound dog. She is wonderful, kind and gentle.
I must add a third, I am thankful to have yummy coffee to wake me up each day!
Thanks for the tip! Sometimes I use sulfate free shampoo to clean my brushes especially some delicate.
