Well, hey there. How are ya doing? Welcome to Caturday and the weekend. WE MADE IT!
I’m about to embark upon another couple days of packing and moving. To say that I’ve been getting my squats in for the last couple weekends is an understatement, ha! Almost there, though. Hopefully the construction will be done mid-next week, either by Wednesday or Thursday.
After the work is done comes the really hard part — organizing all the stuff that’s currently into boxes! I’m on a mission to declutter everything before summer starts, so I’ve been researching different methods. I’m very interested in this strategy called “quieting,” which involves emptying everything out of a room (which I’ve already done, yay), and then only moving back items that you want, miss or need.
If you’ve had any success with decluttering or organizing a jam-packed space, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Love me some braids and some JVN!
Oui, oui.
Someone make this for me, please.
Our lips are sealed!
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I highly recommend The Minimal Mom on YouTube. She’s really encouraging and relatable and not at all judgemental, and I find her really inspirational for decluttering, even though I’m not interested in becoming a minimalist.
Awesome, thanks Eileen. I’ll look up some of her videos!
What are you up to this weekend?
We put in a new closet system last fall and we both were ruthless purging our clothes. Since then I’ve been doing every drawer, closet and shelf in the house and I’ve gotten rid of so much stuff I’m not following any sort of plan just found it one space at a time
I just ordered that K18 mask from the mothership while the sale is still going on.
Have you tried it yet?
I shall report back.
My hair has been such a dumpster fire the past year that anything will probably make it look better.
I keep telling you: Marie Kondo is the magic!!!
Good luck
We’re at the new place getting cable installed (I also went to the grocery store and Target) but the big move day is tomorrow. We moved Jiji in so he could have some cat time to get used to it and not risk getting hurt when we’re moving big items. Hettie is with us today but is going back to the other place tonight.
Oh by the way, Ulta, Sephora, and Target are all less than two miles from the new place. Dangerous!
We did a lot of purging with our move because who wants to move more stuff, LOL! I donated a ton of books to the Free Little Libraries in our old neighborhood, donated a ton of clothes, etc.
I love Shereene Idris, her videos are so good and her voice is nice and calming.
This sounds like the perfect time to try quieting, so I’d go for it. Emptying my rooms sounds daunting, so not sure I’d do it unless they were emptied for another reason like yours are.
You might want to check out Fly Lady at http://www.flylady.net/ One of the things she talks about setting a timer for 15 minutes to declutter or do other tasks, which I find helpful.
I too recommend The Minimal Mom. Another good one is The Clutter Bug.
Getting things tidy feels so darn good 😃
I agree with Jennifer – I’ve used Marie Kondo and it really works. My socks are all neatly folded and have been for four years because what you do with her really lasts – and who doesn’t want that?!
BTW have you heard of Jones Road beauty and what do you think of it?
I’ve been using Marie Kondo for a few years now and love it. Lately though I’ve discovered Dana K. White and have made some major decluttering progress in the last 3 weeks. She has some videos on youtube that are really helpful. Even if I only have time to do 10 minutes or so, the results are awesome!
I have no tips on decluttering, my main issue is that I get a good start and then stop around halfway. Not because I am done, but because life gets in the way and next thing I remember it has been sitting half finished for months and I can start over.
