Hello, friend. Greetings from rainy Northern California.

For some reason rainy days like this make me think of Connor’s toddler days, and how it felt like we had countless time to splash in puddles together. Le sigh!

Anywho, as you know, I’m a bonafide coffee enthusiast, but lately with the cold and wet weather, I’ve been drinking loads of tea.

Do you have a favorite flavor/brand of tea? I’m on a mission to find my favorites. So far I’ve been really into this green tea by Starbucks called Teavana Jade Citrus Mint (I buy it at Target). I like it because it’s mild and not too bitter! I also really love Earl Grey, especially with cream and sugar. 🙂
This week’s reading
- Pat McGrath digs “Star Wars.”
- If your skin care tingles, does that mean it’s working?
- Deep thoughts — Should cats be allowed on airplanes?
- The YSL lipstick gadget, an at-home machine that can create 4000 different shades of lipsticks, uses an AI powered app to help find your perfect shade. Go science!
- Well, this is new: NARS launched a lipstick collab with virtual brand ambassadors.
Pretty!
Can someone please let me know how these dogs get such shiny coats?
How interesting!
Please show me the way.
LOVE.
What are you up to this weekend? I’ve got a host of dance mom things involving driving Connor to and from various rehearsals and performances. Christmas shopping is also on my to-do list.
Take it easy and talk to ya soon.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hello,
Lady Grey is a favorite tea. A more delicate Earl Grey.
I also miss splashing in puddles with my son. He is 26 now and remembers his rain gear (yellow slicker with had an froggy boots).
Best,
MVP
I drink a lot of Kona Coffee and Tea Co. Mamaki Mint Tea – very soothing and no caffiene so I can enjoy it late day.
As to cats on planes – I was an airline pilot for 16 years, I’m not a big fan of animals other than service animals on board because it’s very stressful for your furry friend (and don’t even THINK about shipping the pet as cargo – I could tell you horror stories about that). But allergies are a real issue and sitting a few feet away doesn’t help that much. The way the air circulates in an airliner is such that EVERYONE shares the same air. We used to see a passenger boarding with a headcold for a long flight and within days the entire crew, flight attendants, and pilots would have it.
I’m enjoying this rain, although I realized being in the car in the rain has recently made me a bit nervous/anxious. Went to the pet store in the rain today to pick up more canned food for Nibbler. She seems to be enjoying it more than her kibble lately. I remember when Dear Daughter used to get on the plane to college with her every year. Glad Dear Daughter decided Nibbler was getting too old to be cooped up in a carrier under an airplane seat for several hours, so I get to keep her.
There was a pretty tortoise shell kitty at the pet store up for adoption. She came up to the glass and gave it head butts where my hand was. I was so tempted to adopt that one. Not sure how Nibbler or Dear Husband would have handled it.
Been making masala chai for breakfast these days. Assam tea with cardamom, star anise, ginger, cinnamon and milk. Sometimes I switch the spices up, but those are my go-to spices. I also have containers of Earl Gray, PG Tips and Yorkshire tea, always with milk or cream. Not a lover of sugar in my tea.
Hope you are cozy and comfy this rainy weekend.
Well I’ve been in bed and or the bathroom tmi I know with a tummy flu for a few days. I’ve been keeping myself busy with going over alllll your Unsung Hero’s. Just love that you do that! Tea? I’m ashamed to say I love Liptons Cold Brew. And yes, cats on planes for sure! All Tabby’s need a vacay too❤️🎄🎄
Thank you for putting up the Triggering article. Throughout the year, but I fear this time of year can trigger good feelings and sad feelings, hence possibly overspending or idealizing others possessions rather than exhaling and enjoying what we have. It’s to me rather like shopping my stash, only emotionally/mentally. It’s a tough time of year for many, please reach out, call someone, you’re not alone. You aren’t 🙏🙏
Stay with me here…but I suggest a combo of mint and licorice tea (the Stash brand carries licorice). I know it sounds crazy but it is so so good! Lately I have almost a dozen teas in rotation but the mint and licorice is my favorite rn!
Favorite tea – Harney & Sons Peppermint & I brought a box of Harrod’s Moroccan Mint home from London. I would not subject my cats to anyone on a plane – 2 of them howl non stop in the car and one gets so upset she pees in the carrier. If we ever move across the country, it’s going to be a long ride. This week I have to get the last of the decorations up. Usually I do it all the Sunday after Thanksgiving but I’m still recovering from surgery so everything takes longer. My shopping is done since I did everything online this year. I had plenty of time to browse.
