Happy Saturday, friend. I hope your weekend is off to a great start.
I usually prefer making cookies from scratch (it’s tastier and more fun), but I couldn’t resist these premade Lisa Frank unicorn sugar cookies I saw at Tar-ghay. A buddy from my bakery days sent me a message saying these reminded her of me, so of course I had to grab a box!
Question for ya. Do you know your unicorn name? If you don’t, here’s a handy dandy chart for your edification!
Mine is Diamond Shimmer. Yup, that math checks out. Ha ha ha!

This week’s reading
- Derms say there’s pitfalls to a more-is-more skin care approach.
- I’ve used the Curél Makeup Cleansing Oil and liked it a lot; apparently they have a whole Japanese skin care line!
- A list for those who love spicy scents.
- I’m more of a citrus note kinda person.
- Scientists warn that UV-emitting nail polish dryers damage DNA.
- Red light therapy might help with hair loss.
- Speaking of hair, apparently Istanbul is the global capital of hair transplants.
Re: Red light therapy.
Note to self.
How long does it take before skin care actually works?
Saturday morning music.
I’m going to grab that Versed Retinol ASAP!
Flashback!
OK, now it’s time to dance…
What are your plans for the weekend? Besides the usual working out, tidying my house and hanging with my fam-bam, I’m going to prepare for two interviews I have next Wednesday. I’m also making a Filipino custard dessert called leche flan.
I bought these individual ramekins so I could steam them on the stove. Aren’t they cute?

Here’s my improv steam setup is going to look like!

I don’t what it is about bowls that can fit in the palm of your hand, but I just love ’em.
Enjoy the rest of your day, and have a wonderful weekend!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I braved the crowds at Trader Joe’s on a typical Saturday as my next work is super busy. I got some edamame to make some soup for lunch like you showed the other day (I had some of the Lotus rice noodles already), and salad stuff for dinner tonight. After that, chill with some peppermint green tea and wait for the snow. And my unicorn name. Dancing Cookie. It fits.
Hi Brigid,
I like my soup to be soupy, so be sure to add enough broth to your dish. I’ve noticed that when I’m chintzy with the broth that it ends up being more like a noodle dish rather than soup!
Enjoy the snow. Oh, and I love your unicorn name!
Have a great interview Karen!! That’s great!! And I love the pic of the leche flan. It looks yummy!! I don’t know if I mentioned it, but our friend Alma was visiting her son here in PA recently, and she made us the most wonderful Filipino meal. It was soooo good!! We had pancit, lumpia egg rolls, and chicken adobo. I was in heaven, because I hadn’t had Filipino food in a very long time, and my friend, Alma, was the one who made it, so many years ago. Happy Saturday!!
Thanks Sherry! So glad you were able to enjoy some yummy Filipino food with your friend. 🙂 Have a great rest of your weekend!
Sparkling Fairy! Lol. That’s fun. Those cookies are cute, not sure how they would taste.
I’m so tempted to buy the Omnilux red light face therapy masks. And one of the laser caps for my seriously thinning hair. But $$$. Ouch! I think that’s the major reason for trying to not buy any new makeup or back-ups to the back-ups on my skincare. Need to pare things down to the necesities these days.
You’ll do great with the interview! You’ve got this!
Thank you! 🙂
Cute unicorn name, by the way. I’m betting the cookies are going to be 100% gross for an adult palette but absolutely delightful for a six year old. Hahaha!
My unicorn name is Jolly Star! I want some of those cookies, I love Lisa Frank!
Good luck at your interviews, Karen! I am actually changing jobs soon and I’m kind of nervous about learning a new job. It’s a bit of a pay cut but the main reason I accepted is because I’ll get 10 weeks off in the summer to spend with the girls, and during that time my boyfriend can work because he’s in construction.
Good luck on your interviews, Karen!
