Good morning and meow-za! Happy Caturday to ya. I hope you have toasty toes and that someone is baking you biscuits, be they of the glutinous or the feline variety.
I’m busting out the creams today because January is Crazy About Creams month here on MBB (as in cream makeup products), and it occurred to me last night that I have yet to ask you about YOUR favorite cream products. What are they? Inquiring minds want to know.
On that note, here’s some light reading for your Saturday Surfing time today…
- Yet another sign that Lady Gaga is coming out with a beauty line…
- Did you know there’s a wage gap between hairstylists and makeup artists working in the television and movie industries? I didn’t. Hollywood stylists are currently fighting for pay equity.
-
Chanel is betting big that 2019 will be THE YEAR for men wearing makeup.
Also, Pharell wearing eyeliner = kind of genius.
- I love reading about entrepreneurial women working in the beauty biz. Annie Lawless is the founder of a clean makeup line called Lawless. She also founded Suja Juice and sold a minority stake in the company to Coca-Cola for $90 million!!!
- Fave read of the week: When technicolor film debuted in the 1930s, two beauty behemoths, Elizabeth Arden and Max Factor, battled for dominance in the movie makeup market in “the Hollywood Powder Puff War.”
- BREAKING NEWS: Potatoes ? can be glamorous. Watch this potato (yes, as in the vegetable) get a full glam beat.
- Vehicles may someday come equipped with rose-scented steering wheels to help people avoid accidents.
- French fragrances for kids! (Of course I would want the one decorated in cat heads for myself.)
- Anyone wanna go to the mall? The Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Sale is happening now.
- If you happen to 1) be in Moscow and 2) have a nose for obscure fragrance, the Tretyakov Gallery, home to one of the world’s largest collections of Russian fine art, is currently selling perfumes inspired by the museum’s most famous paintings.
- Michael B. Jordan is the new face of Coach, and all I have to say is YES, PLEASE.
- This retired social worker rescues cats from trees.

Mother Nature is the BOMB DOT COM.
I hope your 2019 got off to a good start. You have a great weekend, k?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hi!! Happy Saturday!
Current cream product favs are the Nudestix burnished metallic eye shadow pencil (looks so good and is not too much and is bomb smudged on the undereye). I also love the Daniel Sandler watercolor blushes and the Becca poured creme highlighter (when I remember to put it on before powders) and am super sad it’s discontinued!
Hi Jade,
Apparently BECCA is also phasing out their eye tints, too (the ones in the tubes). I saw them on the website for a super discounted price. 🙁
Happy Saturday Y’all!!! I always love your Saturday Surfing articles Karen – so interesting. While not makeup related, I loved the article about California becoming the first state to pass a law regarding pet stores only being able to sell recuse animals. Bravo…hope more state follow California on this front.
Hi Vanessa,
I’m glad you enjoy the series. 🙂 It’s fun for me to do! And yes, I’m very happy about the new law!
Yup, being rich takes care of everything.
I like the workout video, perfect short piece, and it led me to another which looks even more fun and not hard.

Thank you for the link to that video! I can’t wait to try it. 🙂 Looks fun!
Oooh I love cream products. I have a gel blush by Chantecaille I absolutely love. It only comes in two shades but it’s really good. I also have the Clinique Chubby Stick blush which is pretty good. I think my normal highlighter is discontinued by Nyx, but I really want the new Chanel highlighter that’s in a stick.
I love the guy rescuing kitties ??
GIRL. I know the Chantecaille blush you’re talking about and yes it’s a revelation! I wish it came in more colors. You’re one of many people raving about the Clinique stick blush, so I officially need to add it to my list.
what are those wonderful lip pencils? did i miss something?
Hi Judyo,
They’re by Nudestix. I’ll be covering them soon as part of the cream products series!
My favorite cream product: a tie between the MUFE Aqua XL eyeshadow and the Clinique Chubby Stick blush. Good stuff!
I’m betting a Lady Gaga beauty line is going to be the absolute bomb. If anyone knows makeup, she does.
If you’re in a Taylor Swift mood, have you seen her new thing on Netflix? My girls aren’t fans, so I haven’t heard how it is.
Hi Suzanne,
Funny that you should mention her tour on Netflix because that’s what got me in the mood. 🙂 I quite enjoyed it!
So that MUFE Aqua XL eyeshadow you mention is sooo good. Which color do you wear the most?
Please do tell what company makes the top photo of Lip/Cheek pencils??
I have 2 favorites: (1) NYX Bright Idea Illuminating Sticks (affordable, useable, and wearable); and (2) Sephora Collection Colorful Shadow & Liner in Lilac Shimmer !
Melissa Bender (benderfitness.com) is a boss lady when it comes to da kine home workouts for any goal/fitness level. 😉
Happy CaSaturdayMBB ohana!
Girlfriend! Did I mention I’m gonna be in Hawaii next month?!
ERMAGERD. If you have time for meet ups on Oahu, send an email and/or I’ll keep watching this space. xo
Also, thank you so much for your cream shadow recommendations. And the brand of the liners at the top is Nudestix! Will be covering it in the next week. 🙂
I don’t really know my reasons, but I LOVE that men are wearing makeup! I mean, this is so great. Why does it have to be only women that are allowed to wear makeup, you know? Why can’t men have a little fun too? So what if a guy wants to add himself some cheekbones. I hope this becomes a thing, and I only feel sorry for the ignorant attitudes who will attack them for it. You do you bro!
Am I wrong in thinking that makeup is bit more work than hairstyling, and I’m not exactly upset by the disparity in pay? (Honestly, I could be ignorant in this respect).
OMG clap clap clap! Way to go California, that is so great! I only do rescues. I love that. And hopefully this cuts down on puppy mills.
Hi Miki,
I love it too. I remember about 10 years ago when guys wearing concealer was considered revolutionary, and I’m like… Let the dudes rock the tinted moisturizer, concealer and whatever they wanna wear. I swear Pharrell is selling that graphic liner!
Hi! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I can’t wait to see the Lady Gaga makeup line. It’s got to be incredible.
I hope Chanel is right. Guys wearing makeup needs to become accepted and mainstream. And guyliner is sexy as hell.
Props to CA. I hope other states will soon follow suit.
