Happy Caturday, my friend. The last of Connor’s seventh birthday celebrations is happening at the Marin Humane Society t-minus three hours, which means right after Saturday Surfing, I’ll be assembling cat-themed cupcakes.

A funny thing happened with the buttercream frosting, which I made from scratch using this recipe. Somehow it ended up the exact same shade as my sweatshirt…

Those cupcakes look beautiful Karen!! Happy 7th Birthday to Connor!!
Happy Happy Birthday to Connor! 💗 Those cupcakes look amazing! The frosting color would also make for a great lip gloss! Hope Connor enjoys her celebrations! 🎈
Those cupcakes are gorgeous! You’re a great mom! I usually just ordered cakes or cupcakes from the local bakery. Heck, one year when she was in high school I even picked up two dozen off the shelf at Safeway. And then got scolded for feeding her and her friends sugar.
Happy belated Birthday to Connor! And happy belated birthing day to you, too!
Did you get her a Caboodle? Did she like it?
I did not know you could do birthday parties at the humane society!
Aww, thanks for saying that. 🙂 She did get her Caboodle and she LOVED it. It’s now home to an eyeshadow and lipgloss palette from Claire’s because she refuses to use the “good stuff” I get for her to play with at Ulta, ARGH! She also stashed a lot of her jewelry in it, too.
So the birthday at the humane society was a BLAST! The girls got to learn more about it, and then they took a behind-the-scenes tour and even got to meet a few animals up close and personal. They also did an art project, too. It was the first time we experienced a party there, and I have to say, I’d do it again in heartbeat.
Jaw dropping-you made those cupcakes?! They are amazing. How did you get the tops to bake up to that perfect small dome? And good piping skills. Happy birthday to Connor.
I wish my aging dry eyes could handle concealer but I don’t bother. I need to find a cream that accurately provides enough moisture and gets rid of my very super dry skin.
Thanks for the fun blog. I don’t comment much, but so happy I found your blog many years ago. You have great content and a fun engaging way of writing. It’s a happy spot in my week to see what you have posted.
Hi CC!
So, to get the cupcakes evenly baked, it really helps to use a scale. You put your cupcake liner on the scale, tare it out to zero, then fill it up to about halfway and take note of what the number is in ounces or grams or whatever you’re using. Then, from that point on, you aim to hit the same number with the rest of your cupcakes! That way, each cupcake has the same amount of batter in the cup.
